Brian Griffin At least for now, it wasn't an alternate reality or a strange dream sequence. On this week's episode of "Family Guy," Quahog lost one of its own, and it ripped the Griffins to the core. While trying to play street hockey with Stewie, Brian was hit by a car. A short time later, with the family around him, he passed away. Brian's final words to his family were, "You've given me a wonderful life. I love you all." After about a month, the Griffins decided to get a new dog, and they chose Vinny, voiced by Tony Sirico ("The Sopranos"). Hollywood Life's Andy Swift described both the death and new addition to the family "super-ridiculous." But executive producer Steve Callaghan defended the decision. "It seemed more in the realm of a reality that a dog would get hit by a car, than if one of the kids died," he told E! Online. "As much as we love Brian, and as much as everyone loves their pets, we felt it would be more traumatic to lose one of the kids, rather than the family pet ... We always make choices that always work to the greatest benefit of the series." Will Brian stay dead? Stewie had just dismantled his time machine, so an easy fix is out of the question. Viewers will just have to tune in to see. "Family Guy" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on Fox. He was an Iraq War veteran and one-time police dog, served with the Peace Corps, and was a colorful character who enjoyed women, wine (or rather, a perfectly-concocted dry martini), and the occasional recreational refreshment (OK, he was a recovering coke addict). He and Stewie shared many adventures, including a penchant for time travel, thanks to Stewie's DIY time-travel machine. Optimistic fans of Brian and "Family Guy" hold out hope that the canine could make a comeback at some point in the future, if Stewie ever gets the part to recreate the machine. This whole project has been an amazing experience. The two of us became friends through Vimeo and explored a shared interest in timelapsing Yosemite National Park over an extended period of time. Finally my 2nd Calarts film is completed! It feels really great to make a more personal film this year, now that I know the ropes of filmmaking a bit better. I wanted to make something that focuses on how meaningful it is to make food for someone you love. My family's lives practically revolve around cooking for each other, so it's a theme that I'm deeply attached to. I hope you enjoy it!
