'SNL' flashback: Catching up with the Coneheads
Saturday Night Live
The Conehead family -- the lovable but weird aliens "from France" -- are iconic characters from "Saturday Night Live" in the '70s. Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin and Laraine Newman played Beldar, Prymaat, and Connie. Here, an an IRS agent, played by Steve Martin, conducts an audit on the suspicious family.
Jane Curtin was a staple on the show from 1975-1980, with impressions ranging from Ann Landers to Betty Ford to Dolly Parton. Since then, she's found plenty of work on both the big and small screens. She spent six seasons as Allie on CBS's hit show "Kate & Allie," voiced a wasp in DreamWorks "Antz," took the Coneheads to theaters in 1993, played opposite a few other TV aliens in "3rd Rock from the Sun," and recently played Melissa McCarthy's mom on "The Heat." Funnylady McCarthy told The New York Times that she broke down in tears trying to tell Curtin that she was her idol: “She was really nice about it." Curtin can also be found on CBS's "Unforgettable," and don't miss more iconic "SNL" sketches — Matt Foley living in a van down by the river and John Belushi's samurai deli.
