Snowden used coworkers' passwords to get NSA info
Former government contractor Edward Snowden persuaded 20 to 25 colleagues to give him their login information, including passwords, so that he could do his job as a computer systems administrator, a new report by Reuters says. Snowden used the information he gained through those coworkers to gather the information on the National Security Agency that he then leaked to newspapers starting in June. Last month, Reuters also reported that the NSA had failed to install the most up-to-date anti-leak software at the site in Hawaii where Snowden worked. Also last month, Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder asking that Glenn Greenwald, the reporter who broke the NSA scandal stories, be able to enter the US to meet with Grayson without being arrested. RT's Ameera David takes a closer look at why Grayson wants to meet with Greenwald. NSA meltdown: Utah data compound suffers power surge damage
According to the Wall Street Journal, the National Security Agency's massive spy center in Utah is literally melting. Since August, the $2 billion NSA compound has experienced ten electrical surges that have resulted in electrical components melting down causing approximately $100,000 in damage each time. RT's Meghan Lopez joins Sam Sacks to discuss the NSA's surveillance and how Edward Snowden's revelations are hindering the agency. What We Saw At The Anti-NSA "Stop Watching Us" Rally
On October 26, 2013, protesters from across the political spectrum gathered in Washington, D.C. to take part in the Stop Watching Us rally, a demonstration against the National Security Agency's domestic and international surveillance programs. Reason TV spoke with protesters - including 2012 Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson and former Congressman Dennis Kucinich - to discuss the rally, why people should worry about the erosion of privacy, and President Barack Obama's role in the growth of the surveillance state. Correction: Laura Murphy, Director of the ACLU Washington Legislative Office, was incorrectly identified as Susan N. Herman, ACLU President. Produced by Joshua Swain, interviews by Todd Krainin. About 3 minutes long.
