A Circular Country Walk Around Cookridge & Horsforth (Leeds) - 4th June, 2012
A circular country walk on Diamond Jubilee Monday from Cookridge up to the lighting pylons to the South East of Leeds Bradford Airport (Runway 32 approach). The walk begins and ends at the top of Moseley Wood Bank, before going along the following streets: Moseley Wood Gardens, Green Lane and Moseley Wood Croft. From the end of Moseley Wood Croft a small woodland path took us on a pedestrian bridge over Moseley Beck, and the Harrogate Line - upon which a Northern Trains Northbound Knaresborough service passes. From the we walked passed a pond and up the meadow hills towards stables and onto Scotland Lane. Here we turned right along Scotland Lane, and then took the public footpath on the left of the road up to the guiding light pylons at the end of Runway 32 at Leeds Bradford Airport - this is a public right of way and not trespassing. From there I filmed a number of aircraft approaching including Jet2, Ryanair, KLM and FlyBE services. We then made our way back to Scotland Lane and walked for a further 700 metres, taking the second right hand side rough track marked 'Public Bridleway' to Cookridge. We walked the length of the track through farm building and across the Harrogate Line, where again we saw a Northbound Northern Train. We then continued up the path past farm houses and farm buildings until we reached Smithy Lane, before walking down Cookridge Avenue to Moseley Wood Avenue, then onto Moseley Wood Gardens, right up Moseley Wood Grove, and left along Moseley Wood Drive until we returned to out starting point at the top of Moseley Wood Bank. The walk distance was between 4 and 5 miles, and the terrain was a combination of easy and moderate with some more challenging parts due to mud. Along this walk we passed two Geocash locations - although I'm keeping there whereabouts quiet so as not to spoil the game!

Early Morning Snow, Cookridge, Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK: 04:00 - 06:30 on 21st January, 2013
It was 04:00 on the 21st January 2013, not unusually for me, I was up late editing video, when I went to look out of the window and was amazed at the deep thick covering of snow that I saw. It had been snowing on and off for a few days and there was a thin covering, but it then began snowing the night before at 20:00 and didn't stop, with a strong Easterly breeze this resulted in drifts up to a foot deep, and flat coverings of around six inches.
I grabbed my snow boots, hat, gloves, hoodie, coat and camcorder and left the house at 04:00 to walk the deserted streets of Cookridge and film the magical snowscape that was developing around me. I began on Moseley Wood Drive, then walked along Green Lane, where I bumped into a resident local fox, and a stranded van driver who was making his way home on foot. I carried on to Cookridge Lane, and turned left up to Otley Old Road and beyond to Tinshill Recreation Ground behind the fire station. I filmed the ground, Cookridge Towers, passing motorists, a cyclist, gritters and lots of deep, deep snow.
I walked back and down Tinshill Drive, Kirkwood Way and Moseley Wood Drive. I managed to get some zoomed shots of Leeds Bradford Airport, before going home to warmth, breakfast and sleep. I hope you enjoy this video it was a pleasure to make, and lovely being so, so quiet out there.

Walk to Breary Marsh and Paul's Pond, Cookridge, Leeds, UK - 24th June, 2012 (1080 HD)
Footage taken on a beautifully scenic 3 mile / 4.5 kilometre circular walk from Pinfold Lane in Cookridge, Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK to Breary Marsh and Paul's Pond also within Cookridge. The journey begins at the top of Pinfold Lane and features scenery of the surrounding farmland and countryside, including views towards Old Modernians Sports and Social Club and Cookridge Scout Hut. Beyond this there are views of planted and very wet farm fields, and views back towards Cookridge including the communications tower. Marshes Plantation is passed and the walk goes along Leeds Country Way into the Woodland for Breary Marsh Nature Reserve. Heavy rain has saturated the ground, and the going is muddy. Through the woodland, Paul's Pond is reached which is a lovely tranquil fishing pond surrounded and hidden by woodland. We walk the whole way around the pond where ducks and geese are swimming and feeding, before re-entering the woodland. Along the way we found two Geocaches, and whilst the video shows the approximate locations, this is not highlighted so is not a 'spoiler'. From here we take a naughty short cut through a broken fence around the edge of Cookridge Hall golf course, which is fairly busy on a sunny Sunday afternoon, before heading back into the bush and woodland, before arriving back near our starting point on Pinfold Lane. This was a lovely Sunday afternoon walk that I would recommend to others in the Cookridge area.
