Um grupo de portugueses reuniu-se esta quarta-feira em frente ao Museu Histórico Nacional no centro do Rio de Janeiro, em protesto contra à homenagem do ministro demissionário Miguel Relvas que abandonou o Governo em Abril deste ano, após uma polémica envolvendo a sua licenciatura. O evento que celebrava o 102º aniversário da Câmara Portuguesa de Comércio e Indústria do Rio de Janeiro, teve como mestre de cerimónias o actor português Ricardo Pereira e que segundo a organização, homenageou "empresários e personalidades que se destacaram no incremento das relações bilaterais ao longo deste ano", homenageou igualmente o presidente da Cimpor - Ricardo Lima, o presidente executivo da EDP - António Mexia, o presidente do Banco Caixa Geral Brasil - Nuno Fernandes Thomaz, e o presidente do concelho administrativo do Banco BIC Português S.A. - Fernando Teles. Também na lista de personalidades homenageadas constava o presidente da GestiFute - Jorge Mendes e a cantora de fado Mariza. Além da entrega de prémios, foram exibidos vídeos com breve trajectória dos homenageados. Os portugueses que se manifestavam e se viram impedidos de entrar na cerimónia, distribuíram panfletos com "o curriculum verdadeiro" de Miguel Relvas. Ao tentarem congratular o ex-ministro "pelo bem estar que trouxe ao país" os manifestantes foram imediatamente afastados do recinto pelos elementos de segurança que o rodeavam. Os manifestantes prosseguiram com o protesto já fora do recinto, abordando os convidados que chegavam e entregando o "curriculum" de Miguel Relvas. De recordar que Miguel Relvas foi nomeado para Alto Comissário da Casa Olímpica da Língua Portuguesa no Brasil em Agosto deste ano, a partir do convite (entre outros) do presidente do Comité Olímpico de Portugal, José Manuel Constantino e pelo actor Ricardo Pereira, cargo para o qual Miguel Relvas foi escolhido pelo "conhecimento da realidade dos países de língua portuguesa".
