Plot
In the back streets of a tourist town in present-day Southeast Asia, we find a filthy cinder block room; a bed with soiled sheets; a little girl waits for the next man. Alex ('Dermot Mulroney' (qv)), a human trafficking investigator, plays the role of her next customer as he negotiates with the pimp for the use of the child. Claire ('Mira Sorvino' (qv)), Alex's wife, is caught up in the flow of her new life in Southeast Asia and her role as a volunteer in an aftercare shelter for rescued girls where lives of local neighborhood girl's freedoms and dignity are threatened. Plot
In the near future when people become uninterested in boxing and similar sports, a new sport is created - Robot boxing wherein robots battle each other while being controlled by someone. Charlie Kenton, a former boxer who's trying to make it in the new sport, not only doesn't do well, he is very deeply in the red. When he learns that his ex, mother of his son Max, dies, he goes to figure out what to do with him. His ex's sister wants to take him in but Charlie has first say in the matter. Charlie asks her husband for money so he can buy a new Robot in exchange for turning Max over to them. He takes Max for the summer. And Max improves his control of his robot. But when the robot is destroyed, they go to a scrap yard to get parts. Max finds an old generation robot named Atom and restores him. Max wants Atom to fight but Charlie tells him he won't last a round. However, Atom wins. And it isn't long before Atom is getting major bouts. Max gets Charlie to teach Atom how to fight, and the father and son bond strenghtens.

Mark Unwin is one of four employees of Krielsen International oil company captured by militant group MEND whilst they are working in Nigeria. His wife Claire flies out with Alice Onuko, Nigerian-born,British-raised P.R. for Krielsen. When the women arrive in Port Harcourt they are told a ransom has been agreed - as is the norm since MEND depends on ransoms to fund itself. However when civil rights worker Keme, acting as go-between, escorts the women to the handover place they find only the corpses of Mark and his co-workers. Next day Claire meets a journalist who tells her the men were killed by the Nigerian government after their release by MEND and he is himself later found dead. She also learns that he was having an affair with Angel, a prostitute,whom she confronts but who is whisked away in a car before she can say anything. Alice is equally shocked to find that her father has made his money less than scrupulously from oil. Keme is jailed but Alice levers Tunde,the police chief, into releasing him despite Tunde's efforts to silence her. Keme takes Alice and Claire deep into the jungle to meet MEND leader Ebi who swears that Mark's murderers were Nigerian officers under Tunde,who staged the massacre to blame MEND. Mark and his dead colleagues were being recruited as mercenaries against the government, a fact Claire does not reveal in her press statement when she returns to England. Keme continues to canvass for equality in Nigeria,with a new recruit - Alice.

Life Corp, a leader in the technology field, is working on ground breaking technology to makes people happy. The company's CEO, Sir John Chris, argues this is coming at a time when people are angry and need a change. Ben Lau, a software engineer, has dedicated the last three years of his life on the Life Corp project trying to make a difference. Together with Raj, his fellow software engineer, and Liz, his project manager, they conduct their final experiment which would actually make an unhappy person happy. The experiment takes an unexpected turn for the worse. Instead of the intended outcome, the test subject becomes a zombie. To resolve the crisis, Sir John Chris hires his friends to consult on the project. His friends only make things worse, and their experiment starts the zombie epidemic infecting the entire building. Ben, Raj and Liz, escape the initial outbreak, but realize they are the key to reversing the effects of the infection. So they fight and at times crawl through the various departments of the Life Corp building, meeting the surprisingly good looking marketing department, the executive CEO staff, and some old friends, who are now brain dead. Along the way, Ben realizes how he really feels for his project manager and ex-girlfriend, Liz. In the end, Ben reverses the effect of the infection, gets the girl, and saves the office.
