Spyro (series)

Spyro is a series of platform games which primarily features the protagonist Spyro the Dragon and his friend, Sparx the Dragonfly. Since its introduction in 1998, there has been a complete reboot to the series called The Legend of Spyro trilogy, making it a total of ten Spyro games and three Legend of Spyro games. The Spyro series has sold more than 20 million units worldwide. After The Legend of Spyro series concluded, a spin-off franchise under the name of Skylanders was made where Spyro and other related characters were included in.

Spyro the Dragon

Spyro the Dragon was first released in North America on 11 September 1998, for the PlayStation. It was released in Europe on 23 October 1998, In Australia on 15 November 1998 and in Japan on 1 April 1999. It is a platform game that placed the player as Spyro, a small, purple dragon set with the task of freeing his fellow dragons from crystal prisons, which are scattered around their world. Each level is accessed through 'portals' from a main world. The game concludes with a fight between Spyro and the primary antagonist, Gnasty Gnorc. The game sold well, most critics giving it favorable reviews. It also received acclaim for its musical score by Stewart Copeland.

Blink (band)

Blink are a pop rock band from Ireland. They are noted for their mixture of humour and melancholy. They have released three albums to date: A Map of the Universe by Blink (1994), The End Is High (1998) and Deep Inside the Sound of Sadness (2004). "A Map of the Universe by Blink" was an Irish top ten album. "The End is High" was a Billboard album of the week and "Deep inside the Sound of Sadness" was nominated as Best Irish Album of the Year in the 2005 Meteor Music Awards.

The band are also notable as being the first band to be pictured on a telephone card.

The San Diego, California based pop punk band now known as Blink-182 was originally also called Blink, but a legal dispute with the Irish Blink resulted in their name change to Blink-182.

Biography

Blink was formed in the early 1990s by Dermot Lambert (vocals/guitars), Robbie Sexton (keyboards), Brian McLoughlin (bass) and Barry Campbell (drums). Blink's inclusion on a CD for a trade festival in New York generated a positive review, which ended with the band signing with EMI for their debut release.

Blink is a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) client distributed under the Blink license (GNU GPLv3 with the exception of possibility to include Proprietary software modules for commercial purpose)

The software is written in Python for Cocoa. and lately it was ported to Qt for supporting Microsoft Windows and GNU/Linux platforms.

Features

Blink is based on the Session Initiation Protocol, and beyond voice over IP, its features also include video, instant messaging, file transfer and multi-party conferencing sessions based on MSRP protocol, remote desktop sharing using RFB protocol (VNC), and SIMPLE presence using XCAP protocol.

Privacy and Security

The Mac OS X version of Blink implements end-to-end encryption and peer verification for chat media using OTR protocol, audio and video media using ZRTP protocol (all versions).

Monk (comics)

The Monk is a fictional character in the DC Comics universe. He appeared as one of Batman's earliest foes.

Fictional character biography

The Monk first appeared in Detective Comics #31 in 1939. He is one of the earliest significant villains of the series, his battle with Batman being one of the Dark Knight's first multi-part adventures. The Monk is a vampire who wears a red, monk-like outfit, with a hood that bears a skull and crossbones. The Monk hypnotises Bruce Wayne's fiancee, Julie Madison, into trying to kill a man. Batman stops her and next day as Bruce Wayne takes her to a Doctor, who has also been hypnotised and tells them to go on a cruise. Batman uses the Batgyro to get to the ship Julie is on and meets the Monk who is after Julie. The Monk tries to use his hypnotic powers on Batman, but Batman uses a batarang to escape his trance. The Monk lures Batman to his base in Paris, and Batman defeats a giant ape set on him. However the Monk succeeds in catching Batman in a net and tries to lower it into a den of snakes, but using the Batarang for the first time, Batman knocks the lever up, breaks a glass chandelier, and uses the glass to cut through the net. He has an assistant named Dala who lures Batman to his lair using Julie Madison as bait.

Monk (Montreal Metro)

Monk is a station on the Green Line of the Montreal Metro rapid transit system operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM). The station is located in the Ville-Émard district of the borough of Le Sud-Ouest in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Art and Architecture

The station structure was designed by Blais & Bélanger and features many works of art, including the large sculpture Pic et Pelle by artist Germain Bergeron. Monk also features many balconies that overlook the main station below, however they have been closed for the safety of the visually impaired.

Germain Bergeron considered many different ideas for the public art for this station. His first concept was to create a series of flying saucers that were suspended from the roof of the station, and were to move with the wind generated by passing trains. However, this was deemed too dangerous by authorities, and the idea was cancelled.

The current two giant statues of workers constructing the Metro were to have been accompanied by a third, representing a foreman, but this idea was judged superfluous and scrapped.

Monk (Berkshire cricketer)

Monk (dates unknown) was an English professional cricketer who made 10 known appearances in major cricket matches from 1792 to 1795.

Career

He was mainly associated with Berkshire.
