Il croissant in Italia comunemente chiamato brioche nelle regioni settentrionali e cornetto in quelle centro-meridionali, è una pasta tradizionalmente dolce, ma esiste anche la versione salata, a forma di mezzaluna. La sua composizione è a base di: farina, burro, uova, acqua e zucchero,lievito con l'aggiunta di tuorlo d'uovo spalmato sulla superficie per ottenere una colorazione più dorata. Il nome di questo dolce trae origine dal fatto che la sua particolare forma ricorda quella della mezzaluna, in francese chiamata proprio «croissant», ossia «crescente». Dalla particolare forma deriva anche il termine «cornetto» con cui il dolce è conosciuto in molte zone d'Italia.. Il croissant può essere vuoto oppure farcito con marmellata, crema, cioccolata, miele, oppure nella versione salata con formaggio e salumi. In Italia, il croissant viene tradizionalmente consumato al bar per colazione insieme al cappuccino. La versione italiana del dolce, pur essendo pressoché identica nella forma, differisce tuttavia per il tipo di pasta, generalmente meno friabile e più dolce di quella utilizzata oltralpe.

I show how to make them from scratch. I explain the method of making puff pastry step by step Croissant & Petit-Pain-Au-Chocolat are a typical French pastry. They are usually served for breakfast but they also make a great snack for adults and younger children. This recipe is my own. There are different ways of making the pâte feuilletée (puff pastry) but this is how I found it works best. When placing the cold butter in the dough it shouldn't fall in pieces like it did in this video. But for some reason this recipe gave me a harder time making it when I tried to record it. Enjoy!!
