FLOOD THREAT ADVICE
Issued by the BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY, DARWIN
at 1102 CST Thursday 13 FEBRUARY 2014

AREA INVOLVED
Barkly and Alice Springs Districts.

RAINFALL SUMMARY
In the 24 hours until 9am today, there were scattered falls 10 to 20mm with
isolated falls 25 to 50mm.

WEATHER SUMMARY
The tropical low that was over the far northwest Alice Springs District
yesterday, moved across the WA/NT border overnight and weakened. A warm, moist
northerly flow now prevails over the southern half ahead of a trough approaching
from WA. The trough will move through the southern half during the weekend.
Isolated showers and storms over most places, increasing in the south and
eastern parts during the weekend.

FORECAST for the rest of today and Friday
Isolated showers and storms, tending scattered with some rain areas near the
southwestern border today. Scattered falls 5 to 15mm. Isolated falls to 30mm
near the southwestern border. These falls are unlikely to contribute to further
flooding.

OUTLOOK for Saturday and Sunday
Isolated showers and storms continuing over most areas with rainfall totals 10
to 20mm, increasing to 20 to 40 mm over the southern and eastern Alice Springs
and eastern Barkly Districts on the weekend. These falls are unlikely to
contribute to further flooding.

Rainfall over the southern Darwin-Daly, Victoria River and Roper-McArthur
Districts, from mainly isolated showers and storms, is not expected to add to
current flooding levels, but note that Flood Warnings remain current for the
Daly, Victoria and McArthur Rivers.

No further advices will be issued unless the situation changes.
