New Review Update: The World Is A Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid To Die; Radioactivity

Posted by bryne on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 6:00 PM (EST)
The World Is A Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid To Die Today's first new review is Renaldo Matadeen's take on The World Is A Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid To Die's Whenever, If Ever:

The multiple vocalists and intricate guitar-picking add so much dissonance while keeping a steady melody. Fusing such a fuzzy pop feel with fits of indie and even screamo may seem overreaching, but to this band, it's not a difficult task at all.

Read the review here.

Then, Matthew Bentel checks out the latest Marked Men-related project Radioactivity and their new album, also called Radioactivity:

Contributing both reworked Novice tracks and original material, the end result is the eponymous Radioactivity – 13 songs built on '60s garage rock aesthetics, '70s power pop themes, and an unrelenting bent toward infection. Radioactivity sounds like the Marked Men because it is the Marked Men – back from the dead, an evanescent manifestation offering a mix of relief and closure for those still reeling from the Men’s absence.

Ronnie Radke (Falling In Reverse) planning rap mixtape

Posted by bryne on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 2:30 PM (EST)
Falling in Reverse After displaying some of his newfound rapping "skills" on Falling In Reverse's new album Fashionably Late — and claiming he'd "been in rap since I was shitting in Pampers" — frontman Ronnie Radke is taking it a step further, telling Loudwire about plans for a mixtape that will also feature Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria, Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach, Andy Biersack of Black Veil Brides and others:

Well, I’m doing a mix tape right now with everybody on the scene that’s doing well. Danny [Worsnop] from Asking Alexandria, Andy [Biersack] from Black Veil Brides is singing on it. It’s all rap, but they’re singing all the choruses on it. There’s Jacoby [Shaddix] from Papa Roach. There’s Deuce, and we’ve got Craig Mabbitt [from Escape the Fate] singing on it. There’s more too, but every track is going to be someone.

Bomb The Music Industry! to play final show Jan. 19

Posted by bryne on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM (EST)
Bomb the Music Industry! Bomb The Music Industry! will be playing their final, final show on Jan. 19 at Warsaw in Brooklyn. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at noon ET here; the group are offering a free live recording of the show (once mixed) to each ticket buyer. Cheap Girls will support, and other bands are expected to be announced soon. Here's what BTMI had to say about it:

Over the past eight years this band has taken us to three continents, countless houses, basements, bars, venues, a few backyards, a lot of tasty restaurants and introduced us to most of our best friends in the world. We'd like to have one last big "fuuuuuuck yeah!" with everybody who has made the past eight years so special for us. We're doing this on a Sunday of a four-day weekend while college is not in session, with the hopes that anyone who would like to make the trip will be able to do so. Or if you think we're like the worst, then, y'know, just stay wherever you are.

It's kind of crazy to think of when this project first started. The major label excess, the RIAA suing students & grandparents for downloading music, releasing music for free or suggested donation being a laughable idea. It's really great to see how the landscape has changed to a much more level playing field - where everyone has the ability (and is encouraged) to share their music with the world. We've been lucky to be part of a wonderful group of bands, and watch a handful of buddies transcend what is thought to be possible by kids in basements jamming. To have a band called Bomb the Music Industry! seems anachronistic. That boring greedy shit monster has been in its death shakes for years.

Bomb announced their breakup in August of 2012, and toured the eastern US and Australia after that announcement. Their last album Vacation was released in 2011.

Arcade Fire tell fans to “please relax” over formal dress code at shows

Posted by bryne on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 12:00 PM (EST)
The Arcade Fire Wildly popular Canadian indie rockers Arcade Fire have come under some scrutiny as of late for suggesting a formal dress code to attending fans of their world tour, which mostly includes large arena shows, in 2014. The band posted this statement to their Facebook page:

To everyone really upset about us asking people to dress up at our shows… please relax. It's super not mandatory. It just makes for a more fun carnival when we are all in it together. So far these have been the best shows we have ever played.

No word on whether or not the band will be taking their own advice. Arcade Fire released Reflektor earlier this year; you can see those tour dates by clicking below.
