Paul Lambert Post Match Interview - Chelsea 2-1 Aston Villa [21.08.2013]
21.08.2013 Chelsea 2-1 Aston Villa: Paul Lambert on 'unpunished' incidents: Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert says that his side did not "deserve to lose" 2-1 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. An own goal by Antonio Luna saw Chelsea take the lead in the match, before Christian Benteke's precise equaliser. A second-half header from Branislav Ivanovic secured all three points for the blues. But the Villa boss claimed that two big moments "went unpunished", believing that his team should have had a penalty and that Ivanovic should have been sent off, prior to scoring the winning goal.- published: 21 Aug 2013

Paul Lambert laughs off Gabriel Agbonlahor tackle on One Direction star Louis Tomlinson - Aston Villa, Premier League Subscribe to PA: http://bit.ly/XmEY05 News, Sport and Entertainment videos: http://www.youtube.com/pressassociation Follow PA on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/pressassoc The Press Association: http://www.pressassociation.com In-form Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor will continue to shrug off his ongoing England snub, according to his club manager Paul Lambert. The Birmingham native appears no closer to breaking into Roy Hodgson's team despite a consistent run of form in the Premier League dating back to the middle of last season. While the likes of Rickie Lambert, Daniel Sturridge, Wilfried Zaha and Raheem Sterling have all been given opportunities to prove themselves recently, Agbonlahor has been in the cold since he picked up the last of his three caps in 2009. Lambert would surely like to see his forward's run of form rewarded by Hodgson but sees no cause for consternation should a recall fail to materialise. "I'm not going to tell Roy Hodgson how to do his job," the Scot said. "That's his prerogative, to pick the national team. It's hard enough to pick any team. "From my own point of view he's been playing fantastically for me, he really has. "In the last three games he's been excellent. He's been at the top of his game against the best teams in the land in Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. "To be fair to Gabby he hasn't let it bother him; he's just got on with it. You can't influence somebody to pick somebody. But for me and this football club, he's playing really well. "The England players are really top players anyway. England are still in the driving seat so the point was a really good result. People said 'they didn't do X, Y and Z but it was a fantastic result for them to go there and get something. "They're still in the driving seat so there's no problem there. "But in terms of Gabby and this football club, he's been excellent." It was somewhat harshly suggested in the past that the 26-year-old was not overly committed to international duty after he was ruled out with injury on occasions but Lambert has not sensed a lack of interest from his forward. "Who said that?" he said. "I don't know. That's something in the past. When I've spoken to him he has never indicated that he wouldn't like to play for his country. "He's never once been anything other than 'if it happens, it happens'. What can you do? All he can do is keep playing for us and if he keeps playing well, he might get a chance." Agbonlahor may have more pressing concerns this week in the form of thousands of angry teenage girls. The Villa striker incurred their wrath after a crunching challenge on Louis Tomlinson which left the singer vomiting at a charity game in Scotland last week. Lambert, who also took part in the game for former Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov's cancer charity, said: "He's taken the pressure off me, that's what he's done. "There was nothing in it, nothing at all. It was a great occasion and it wasn't about the game or who was playing, it was about Stiliyan and the charity. That was the most important thing about the occasion. "It was brilliant, Celtic's fans were absolutely fantastic and football is a contact sport, regardless of whether it's a friendly or whatever. There was nothing in it. "The lad from One Direction was good, really good. "I've not heard Gabby's singing so I can't comment on how the two compare. "But with a game like this you are taking somebody out of their comfort zone, taking a singer and putting him in a football environment so credit to him."- published: 12 Sep 2013

Man City 2-3 Aston Villa 2013 - Paul Lambert Post Match Interview :Outstanding Effort
Aston Villa stun Manchester City with a 3-2 win over Manchester City Aston Villa twice came from behind to earn an unlikely 3-2 win over Manchester City after a thrilling encounter at Villa Park Goals from Karim El Ahmadi and Leandro Bacuna cancelled out efforts from Yaya Toure and Edin Dzeko with Andreas Weimann popping up with the winner for Paul Lambert's men The home side found themselves outplayed for long periods of the game, but somehow managed to take all three points to leave City still looking for their first win away from home this season. Manchester City started brightly and created their first chance of the game after just three minutes when Edin Dzeko dummied Aleksandar Kolarov's cross inside the box for James Milner and the former Villa man flashed his shot just wide of the target. Goals from Karim El Ahmadi and Leandro Bacuna cancelled out efforts from Yaya Toure and Edin Dzeko with Andreas Weimann popping up with the winner for Paul Lambert's men The visitors were dominating possession in the early stages and Samir Nasri created a chance for Dzeko on eight minutes when he slipped in the striker inside the box and his shot brought a smart save from Brad Guzan. Villa's only effort of note in the first half was a free-kick from Karim El Ahmadi which sailed well over the crossbar as Paul Lambert's men struggled to get hold of the ball. Ciaran Clark had a lucky escape on 39 minutes when he hacked Kolarov's dangerous cross just over his own crossbar and from the resulting corner City went close to breaking the deadlock when Dzeko headed down into the path of Toure and he saw his shot knocked off the line through a combination of Clark and Libor Kozak. Toure was inches away from scoring a minute before the break when his deflected shot from the edge of the box flew just wide of the far post with Guzan well beaten in goal. However, from the resulting corner City finally made the breakthrough when Villa failed to clear Nasri's delivery and Toure was on hand to volley the ball through the legs of Guzan. Villa stunned City six minutes into the second half when they equalised with their first attack after the break with a controversial goal from El Ahmadi. Leandro Bacuna slipped in El Ahmadi inside the box with the midfielder appearing to be marginally offside, but there was no offside flag raised and he drilled his shot low into the corner past Hart. The goal stung City into action and they restored their lead five minutes later when Dzeko rose highest to meet Nasri's in-swinging corner. Villa dragged themselves back into the game on 73 minutes when Andreas Weimann won a free -kick 25 yards from goal after a foul by Matija Nastasic and Bacuna stepped up to curl a superb free-kick over the wall and past a stranded Hart. Two minutes later Villa turned the game on its head with a real route one effort from Weimann after some comical defending from City. Guzan pumped a long goalkick straight down the middle and Vincent Kompany and Nastasic both left the ball to each other allowing Weimann to go clear on goal and he managed to beat the onrushing Hart to the ball to poke it past the keeper and into the empty net. City threw everything at Villa in the closing stages, but Villa held to claim a memorable win and their first home victory in the Premier League this season.- published: 29 Sep 2013

Aston Villa 0-1 Liverpool - Paul Lambert Post Match Interview
Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert says he is happy with the progress his side are making despite a 1-0 home to Liverpool. Daniel Sturridge was the match-winner for Liverpool, but Reds keeper Simon Mignolet was in fine form to twice deny Villa's Christian Benteke. Lambert adds that had he been offered three points from the opening three games against Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool at the start of the season, he "would have taken it". Don't forget to like!!!
