The Lancet Series, funded through a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, was led by Aga Khan University in collaboration with SickKids, Johns Hopkins University, Boston University, UNICEF and the WHO. The Series reviewed the epidemiology and burden of disease along with the evidence base of interventions to alleviate the burden of childhood pneumonia and diarrhea worldwide. The Series concludes that, while daunting, virtually eliminating childhood deaths from pneumonia and diarrhea is achievable through collaboration from multi-level stakeholders. This event will present key findings from the Series and explore Canada's role in eliminating preventable deaths from childhood pneumonia and diarrhea, globally.- published: 20 Aug 2013
