Le vieillard (The old man) is a 1894 painting by Léon Pourtau in the collection of the Museo Soumaya, Mexico City.
This work represents an old man in a deserted French street, during a curfew of Prussian occupation. The man walks with crutches, probably with a physical wound. The scene is illuminated by the explosion of a bomb that produces an intense yellow colour that breaks the darkness of the night.
This work was produced in the context of the defeat of the French Republic to the German Empire after the Franco-Prussian War. Pourtau was a student of Georges Seurat and this work shows influence of pointillism and divisionism. The technique employed by Pourtau to achieve a contrast between the dark and the distinct colours in the work is impasto oil-painting which involves applying thick layers of paint. It is close in style to German Expressionism.

John Cameron Fogerty (born May 28, 1945) is an American musician, songwriter, and guitarist, early in his career best known as the lead singer and lead guitarist for the band Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) and later as a successful solo recording artist. Fogerty was listed on Rolling Stone magazine's list of 100 Greatest Guitarists (at number 40) and the list of 100 Greatest Singers (at number 72).
Fogerty was born in Berkeley, California and grew up in El Cerrito, California in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is the younger brother of Tom Fogerty. He attended El Cerrito High School along with the other members of CCR and took guitar lessons from Berkeley Folk Festival creator/producer Barry Olivier. He spent summer vacations at Putah Creek, near Winters, California, which became the subject of the Creedence Clearwater Revival song "Green River".
Inspired by rock and roll pioneers, especially Little Richard and Bo Diddley, John and his brother Tom Fogerty joined Doug Clifford and Stu Cook in the late 1950s to form the band Tommy Fogerty and the Blue Velvets in El Cerrito, California. After signing with the jazz label Fantasy in 1965, they became The Golliwogs and released a few singles that were largely ignored.

First of many taken off Phil's 'Live Experience DVD'. This was a concert performed in Limerick on the 20th August 1996. Nothing needs to be said about the piece; as I'm sure your all familiar with the history of it. I do apologise for the watermark, part way through, but I've had to re-build my laptop and lost all my video copying/editing software, so I'm reduced to using an unlicensed version *shush, don't tell anyone LOL*. Enjoy GC88.

Written by Ernest Hemingway in 1951, I uploaded this version as I especially like it, Listened to it one night in Australia on my friends ipod while sleeping on the couch and it is a somewhat torturous yet exciting and beautiful story, this reading I think is very special..made me think of my dad...and his dad.. the picture is of grandad barry who passed away recently. Hope you will enjoy it,.
The tears, have all been shed now, we’ve said our last goodbye.
His souls’ been blessed, he’s laid to rest, and it’s now I feel alone.
He was more than just my father, my teacher, my best friend.
And he'll still be heard, in the tunes we've shared, when I play them on my own.
I never will forget him, for he made me what I am, though he may be gone, memories linger on,
And I miss him, the old man.
As a boy, he’d take me walking, by mountain, field and stream.
And he’d show me things, not known to kids, and secret, between him and me.
Like the colors, on the pheasant, as he rises, in the dawn.
Or how to fish, or make a wish, beside a faerie (fairy) tree.
I never will forget him, for he made me what I am, though he may be gone, memories linger on,
And I miss him, the old man.
I thought he’d live forever, he seemed so big and strong.
But the minutes fly, and the years roll by, for a father and a son.
And suddenly, when it happened, there was so much left unsaid.
No second chance, to tell him,
Thanks.
For everything he’d done.
Oh, I never will forget him, for he made me what I am, though he may be gone, memories linger on,
God I miss him,
