Richard Dormer (born 11 November 1969) is a Northern Irish actor, playwright and screenwriter.

He was born in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. An artist, musician and actor; after to being accepted to the Royal College of Art he accepted a scholarship at the prestigious RADA school of acting in London where he trained. After living and working in London he returned to his native Ireland and currently lives in Belfast and is married to Director Rachel O'Riordan.

Dormer is perhaps best known for his performance as Alex Higgins in Hurricane, which he wrote and starred in. The production received praise from critics and even from Higgins himself. He is currently the bookie's third favourite to play Higgins in the scheduled film of his life behind Cillian Murphy and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Richard completed a season with Sir Peter Hall at the Theatre Royal and performed Bath in the George Bernard Shaw play, You Can Never Tell, William Shakespeare's, Much Ado About Nothing, Noël Coward's play, Private Lives, and in a production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot.

Alexander Gordon "Alex" Higgins (18 March 1949 – 24 July 2010), also known by his nickname of Hurricane Higgins, was a Northern Irish professional snooker player who was twice World Champion and twice runner-up. Higgins earned the nickname The Hurricane because of his speed of play. Higgins was also a former World Doubles champion with Jimmy White and won the World Cup three times with the All Ireland team. He also came to be known as the People's Champion because of his popularity.

Higgins is often credited to have brought the game of snooker to a wider audience and contributing to its peak in popularity in the eighties.

Higgins had a reputation as an unpredictable and difficult character. He was a heavy smoker, struggled with drinking and gambling, and admitted to using cocaine and marijuana. Diagnosed with throat cancer in 1998, Higgins was found dead in his Belfast home on 24 July 2010.

Alex Higgins was born in Belfast and had three sisters. He started playing snooker at the age of 11, often in the Jampot club in his native Sandy Row area of south Belfast and later in the YMCA in the nearby city centre. At age 14 and weighing seven and a half stones (47.6 kg), he left for England and a career as a jockey. However, he never made the title because, in his youth days, he drank a lot of Guinness and ate a lot of chocolate which made him too heavy to ride competitively. He returned to Belfast and by 1965, aged 16, he had compiled his first maximum break. In 1968 he won the All-Ireland and Northern Ireland Amateur Snooker Championships.

Owen Teale (born 20 May 1961) is a Welsh actor.

Trained at the Guildford School of Acting, Teale made his television debut in The Mimosa Boys in 1984. He later appeared in Knights of God (1989), Great Expectations (1989), Waterfront Beat (1990) and Boon (1990) before being cast as Will Scarlet in the 1991 TV movie Robin Hood. He went on to appear in such series as Dangerfield, Ballykissangel and the long-running Belonging, and later Spooks and Murphy's Law. In 2005, he played a lead role in Marian, Again—opposite Stephen Tompkinson, Samantha Beckinsale and Kelly Harrison—in which he was the abusive husband of Harrison's eponymous character.

His film debut was in War Requiem in 1989. He later appeared as Lophakin in the 1999 adaptation of The Cherry Orchard, opposite Charlotte Rampling as Ranevskaya and Alan Bates as Gayev. His appearance in King Arthur, as Pelagius, was relegated to the DVD extended edition. He played infamous Nazi judge Roland Freisler in the HBO film Conspiracy. In 2006 he appeared in the Torchwood episode "Countrycide"; in 1985, he had appeared in the Doctor Who serial Vengeance on Varos as "Maldak". In 2006 he had a role in the HBO UK TV movie Tsunami: The Aftermath. In 2007, he guest-starred in the Doctor Who audio drama The Mind's Eye. In the same year, he starred in The Last Legion. In 2011, appeared as Ser Alliser Thorne in the HBO TV adaptation of George R. R. Martin's novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, called Game of Thrones.

Kate Dickie (born in 1971 in East Kilbride, Scotland) is a Scottish actress who has appeared in television series, stage plays and films. She is best known for her portrayal as the security camera operative Jackie in her starring debut Red Road, directed by Andrea Arnold, and for which she was given several awards as best actress, among other things at the BAFTA Scotland Awards and the British Independent Film Awards in 2006. Dickie also supports the theatre company Solar Bear, which is known for its collaborations with deaf people, in part in her role as the patron.

Dickie was born in East Kilbride but spent part of her childhood in different parts of Scotland (Dumfries and Galloway, Perthshire and Ayrshire) owing to frequent moves by her family. From an early age she discovered her passion for acting, which her parents also supported. But coming from a working class family (her father was a farmer and gardener) in which no family member had been in the arts before, she was embarrassed to call herself an actress since she was afraid to be named as pretentious. Her desire for drama classes supported her to overcome her insecurities that appeared through the frequent school changes and helped her dealing with adjusting to new people and surroundings. After leaving school she went to college in Kirkcaldy to study for a national certificate in drama. In 1990, she won a place at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and decided to stay in Glasgow. Dickie started to work in theatre and had the opportunity to perform with some of Scotland's best companies. She finally achieved her breakthrough in 2000 when she played a role in an episode of the BBC Scotland series Tinsel Town.

Clive Russell (born 7 December 1945) is a British actor.

Clive was born in Reeth, England and brought up in Fife, Scotland.

He is a familiar face on British television and has appeared in numerous television series including Boys from the Blackstuff (as a policeman), Hope and Glory, Neverwhere, Great Expectations, The Mists of Avalon, Heartburn Hotel, Roughnecks, Monarch of the Glen, Waking the Dead, Silent Witness, Rockface, Spaced, Still Game, Cracker as Robbie Coltrane's brother, Happiness and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet. From 2005 - 2006 Russell played Phil Nail in ITV's Coronation Street.

In Margaret's Museum, a highly acclaimed motion picture, Clive starred opposite Helena Bonham Carter as the Gaelic-speaking Neil Currie. His other film credits include Festival, Ladies in Lavender and The Wolfman.

Recently he has been seen playing Jock in the third series of the BBC's Jam and Jerusalem, in Merlin as 'Bayard, King of Mercia' and Hotel Babylon as an artist forced to fake his own death when he is in debt.
