PEACEFIELD - LOVE ETCETERA
PRESENTED BY LAUREN PETREE
This Texas-based band began in suburban Pittsburgh, with Jeff and Don Glatz, singer/songwriter brothers and pals, raised in a big family full of cops, comic books, the love of music (lots of music) and classic TV. With their harmonious blend of roots rock and alt/folk, Peacefield built a loyal following, playing shows in Pittsburgh, and receiving positive feedback and encouragement from local entertainment writers. After a four-song demo EP quickly sold out, Peacefield recorded their first full-length CD, Narragansett (Green Sun Records). Critics praised the indie endeavor, and a song from the album was selected for Guide Wire Radio, which featured unsigned artists and was broadcast nationwide.
The CD opened some doors, and Peacefield played shows with 10,000 Maniacs, early Goo Goo Dolls, and Vigilantes of Love, receiving airplay on radio stations in Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Cleveland and New York, to name a few.
Peacefield's follow up, Curses & Calamity (King Mouse Records), was produced by Mike Ofca and Greg Joseph of The Clarks. The song "Warmer Side Of The Street" was featured in the major motion picture Kingpin, and their track "Little Mistress" was featured in the PBS documentary The Class of 2000.
In late 2006, Peacefield founders, Jeff and Don, loaded up their bags and moved to the Hill Country, just outside of San Antonio, Texas. With a new lineup of seasoned, backing musicians, they began playing some live shows, and released the melodically-quilted, 6-song EP, Feeling Dull, which met with local success and great reviews.
With that momentum, Peacefield got started on a new, full-length record. The band chose acclaimed producer, Bill Palmer, of Frogville Records (www.frogvilleplanet.com), to take the reigns on the project. The result is their latest, Stars Away, a sweet, heady mix of tunes that Robert Bartosh, of Roots Music Report, calls "unblemished" and "ingeniously performed" with "a new feel that is unconventional and captivating."
With the new CD ready for launch (and already available for downloading), Peacefield has been busy with a healthy schedule of both acoustic and full-band live shows. These melodic adventurers -- Jeff Glatz (vocals, acoustic guitar), Don Glatz (vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica), all-around crowd-pleaser Paul Manz (lead electric and acoustic guitars), the classically-trained, multi-instrumentalist Mark Utter (bass), and Brent "The Hitman" Martin (drums) -- are ready for liftoff!

Peacefield
Peacefield, also called Old House, is a historic home formerly owned by the Adams family of Quincy, Massachusetts. It is now part of the Adams National Historical Park.
History
Peacefield was the home and farm of John Adams (1735–1826), author of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, contributing author of the United States Declaration of Independence, first Vice President of the United States, and second President of the United States, and his wife, Abigail Smith Adams (November 11, 1744 – October 28, 1818), who is famous for her independence of thought and her correspondence with John Adams while he attended the Continental Congress in Philadelphia.
Peacefield was also the home of John Quincy Adams (July 11, 1767 – February 23, 1848), the 6th United States President, his wife Louisa Catherine Adams, their son Charles Francis Adams (ambassador to the United Kingdom during the American Civil War), and Charles' sons, historians Henry Adams and Brooks Adams.
The oldest portion of the house was built in 1731 by Leonard Vassall, a sugar-planter from Jamaica, and acquired by John and Abigail Adams in 1787 after its loyalist owners had abandoned Massachusetts during the Revolutionary War. The Adams were at that time still resident in London, but returned in 1788 to occupy the house and its 40 acres (16 ha) of farmland and orchards. They were disagreeably surprised by the house, however, after their years in England. The house at that time consisted of only two low-ceilinged rooms on the ground floor, two bedrooms, and an attic. Abigail Adams wrote "it feels like a wren's nest."

PEACEFIELD - LOVE ETCETERA
PRESENTED BY LAUREN PETREE
This Texas-based band began in suburban Pittsburgh, with Jeff and Don Glatz, singer/songwriter brothers and pals, raised in a big family full of cops, comic books, the love of music (lots of music) and classic TV. With their harmonious blend of roots rock and alt/folk, Peacefield built a loyal following, playing shows in Pittsburgh, and receiving positive feedback and encouragement from local entertainment writers. After a four-song demo EP quickly sold out, Peacefield recorded their first full-length CD, Narragansett (Green Sun Records). Critics praised the indie endeavor, and a song from the album was selected for Guide Wire Radio, which featured unsigned artists and was broadcast nationwide.
The CD opened some doors, and Peacefield played shows with 10,000 Maniacs, early Goo Goo Dolls, and Vigilantes of Love, receiving airplay on radio stations in Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Cleveland and New York, to name a few.
Peacefield's follow up, Curses & Calamity (King Mouse Records), was produced by Mike Ofca and Greg Joseph of The Clarks. The song "Warmer Side Of The Street" was featured in the major motion picture Kingpin, and their track "Little Mistress" was featured in the PBS documentary The Class of 2000.
In late 2006, Peacefield founders, Jeff and Don, loaded up their bags and moved to the Hill Country, just outside of San Antonio, Texas. With a new lineup of seasoned, backing musicians, they began playing some live shows, and released the melodically-quilted, 6-song EP, Feeling Dull, which met with local success and great reviews.
With that momentum, Peacefield got started on a new, full-length record. The band chose acclaimed producer, Bill Palmer, of Frogville Records (www.frogvilleplanet.com), to take the reigns on the project. The result is their latest, Stars Away, a sweet, heady mix of tunes that Robert Bartosh, of Roots Music Report, calls "unblemished" and "ingeniously performed" with "a new feel that is unconventional and captivating."
With the new CD ready for launch (and already available for downloading), Peacefield has been busy with a healthy schedule of both acoustic and full-band live shows. In addition to Peacefield, home to four generations of the Adams family, the park's main historic features include the John Adams Birthplace (October 30, 1735), the nearby John Quincy Adams Birthplace (July 11, 1767), and the Stone Library (built in 1870 to house the books of John Quincy Adams and believed to be the first presidential library), containing more than 14,000 historic volumes in 12 languages.
There is an off-site Visitors Center less than a mile away. Regularly scheduled tours of the houses are offered in season (April 19 to November 10), by guided tour only, using a tourist trolley provided by the Park Service between sites. Access to United First Parish Church, where the Adamses worshipped and are buried, is provided by the congregation for which they ask a small donation. The church is next to the street from the Visitors Center.
