A garment worker in Haiti was beaten up by a factory manager for demanding to be paid the (inadequate anyway) minimum wage of 300 goud per day ($7.06 US). Then he was fired. This factory produces goods for Gildan, one of the largest clothing companies in the world. The organizers in the factory call on international allies to express solidarity and to demand that Leo be given his job back, for the workers to be paid according to their rights, and for the manager who hit him to be fired. read full story / add a comment

La tattica dell'azione diretta con le tendopoli continua insieme agli internazionali, ma con appoggio israeliano solo tramite i media e la solidarietà. La dura intensificazione della repressione si esprime più tramite la demolizione delle case che negli scontri diretti, ma anche nelle manifestazioni del venerdì abbiamo potuto sperimentare un inasprimento delle violenze da parte delle forze di stato. Il est important aujourd’hui que toute la Colombie et le monde sachent ce qui se passe à La Marina. 2012 is the centenary of the African National Congress (ANC). The party that started out as a small coterie of black businessmen, lawyers and chiefs is today the dominant political formation in South Africa. It was founded by the black elite who were marginalised by the united South Africa formed in 1910, and who appeared at its Bloemfontein inauguration “formally dressed in suits, frock coats, top hats and carrying umbrellas”.[1] Today it is allied via the Tripartite Alliance to the SA Communist Party (SACP) and the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu).
Can the ANC be a vehicle for fundamental, progressive, social change in the interests of the black, Coloured and Indian working classes (proletariat), still mired in the legacy of apartheid and racial domination? This is what Cosatu (and the SACP) suggest. read full story / add a comment

Οι στιγμές που ζούμε είναι ιστορικές. Εάν δεν ξεπεράσουμε τον καπιταλισμό θα ξεπεράσει αυτός το στάδιο που χρειάζεται πλέον τους ανθρώπους και θα τους μετατρέψει σε εξαθλιωμένα και απελπισμένα δίποδα. Αν επιλέξαμε τον όρο αποανάπτυξη, το κάναμε συνειδητά γιατί θέλουμε να πλήξουμε το κεντρικό φετίχ αυτής της κοινωνίας, να αποδομήσουμε το εννοιολογικό υπόστρωμα του καπιταλισμού και να αποαποικίσουμε το κεντρικό φαντασιακό του ανθρωπολογικού τύπου του καπιταλισμού που είναι η πρόοδος μέσω της ανάπτυξης, της κατανάλωσης με τη χρήση της επιστήμης και της τεχνολογίας. read full story / add a comment

El pasado 30 de noviembre y 1º de diciembre (de 2012) se realizó el XV Congreso de la Federación Uruguaya de Empleados del Comercio y Servicios (FUECYS) conjuntamente se llevaron adelante las elecciones del Consejo Directivo Nacional, instancia compuesta por 43 integrantes. Por primera vez en los 82 años que tiene el gremio, la militancia libertaria consigue uno de los dos lugares que obtiene, con la lista 5, la Corriente Sindical Espartaco. The harsh escalation of suppression is expressed more in house demolitions than in direct action clashes, but even in the Friday demos we experienced an escalation of harassment by the state forces. Both in the Israeli media and the public arena the mounting international pressure and the stubborn refusal of the ruling elite to yield is bringing the aura of imminent disaster. The cracks within the ruling elite are expanding and threatening efforts to invest an increasing part of the national product in the settler colonialist project while recruiting the support of the organized orthodox Jewish parties by increasing benefits to their communities.
