Mykel "Myke" Hawke (born November 29, 1965) is a retired U.S. Army Special Forces officer. He is best known for his role in the Discovery Channel series Man, Woman, Wild, where he co-stars with his wife, Ruth England, a British television presenter and actress. He is the author of several books, most recently Hawke's Green Beret Survival Manual. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from New York University and a Master of Science degree in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. As a combat veteran Hawke was an enlisted Green Beret and later commissioned as a captain in special forces. He fought rebels and trained UN peacekeepers in war torn Africa and did combat search and rescue during the drug war in Colombia. Also of note he has earned black belts in Aikido and Judo.
Mykel Hawke also hosts the Discovery Channel show, One Man Army, in which personnel from backgrounds such as special operations, military, law enforcement, and extreme sports, compete in three areas of speed, strength, and intelligence to win prize money.
Thomas "Rico" Oller (born July 16, 1958) is a Republican U.S. politician from California. He served in the California State Assembly, representing the 4th District from 1996 to 2000, and the California State Senate, representing the 1st district from 2000 to 2004. In 2004, Oller ran for Congress in California's 3rd congressional district, but lost the election to former California Attorney General Dan Lungren. On January 10, 2008, Oller again ran for Congress, this time in California's 4th congressional district, for a seat being vacated by retiring Congressman John Doolittle. He faced opposition from former Congressman Doug Ose. On March 4, 2008, Oller dropped out of the race when California State Senator Tom McClintock (R-Thousand Oaks) announced that he was running for Doolittle's seat. In a statement, Oller said his decision was "a bitter pill indeed for me to swallow." But, he said he was endorsing McClintock to prevent the election of Ose, whom he labeled as "an unarguably liberal Republican."
Richard Williams (born February 1, 1950) is the guitarist for the rock band Kansas, and has been with them since their 1974 self-titled debut album. Williams lost his right eye in a childhood fireworks accident. He wore a prosthetic eye for many years, but now wears an eye patch instead.
In the beginning, Williams shared guitar duties with keyboardist/guitarist Kerry Livgren. In the late 1980s, he shared the stage with guitar virtuoso Steve Morse instead. Years later, after some personnel changes in Kansas, Williams found himself as the only guitar player. While Livgren's sound could be described as virtuosic and bright, Williams' style was well balanced with his melodic and mellow sound. Williams and Phil Ehart are the only two members of Kansas who have never left the band, and have been present for all Kansas albums to date.
Among the songs he co-wrote with the band are "Can I Tell You", "No Room for a Stranger", and the hit "Play the Game Tonight".
Dave Pratt is an American radio personality, known to his fans as the "Morning Mayor," as well as a humanitarian and author. At KUPD, he was one of the original shock jocks. His show Dave Pratt in the Morning became the longest running rock and roll morning show in the United States. Pratt has sold more than 100,000 albums with his band (Sex Machine Band), headlining sold-out shows in major venues throughout Arizona.
The sobriquet "Morning Mayor" was given to him by Attorney General Terry Goddard.
Pratt began his career at the age of 16 on KELK in his hometown of Elko, Nevada. He subsequently worked at 98 KUPD where he stayed for 20 years. Pratt keyed much of his persona around underwear, a schtick he borrowed from Phoenix radio legend Jonathon Brandmeier. Brandmeier also had a band he toured Arizona with. Brandmeier rose to fame in Phoenix BEFORE Pratt did, so it would seem Pratt is a bit of a Brandmeier clone.
In January 2002, Pratt joined Howard Stern on CBS Radio’s alternative rock station KZON. Switching from rock to country in 2003, he hosted Dave Pratt in the Morning on KMLE Country 108 until he was retrenched by the network in 2008 Pratt's time slot was given to "Tim and Willy." In May 2011, Dave Pratt started webcasting "Dave Pratt Live". His no-format show can be heard on 103.9 FM and DavePrattLive.com weekday mornings from 5:30 AM to 9 AM. iPhone, Blackberry, and Android apps are also available.
Tim Palmer is a British music producer, audio engineer, guitarist and songwriter of rock and alternative music.
In the early 1980s Palmer was an assistant engineer at Utopia Studios in London where he worked with musicians such as Mark Knopfler and Dead or Alive. Later in the 1980s he produced acts such as Robert Plant, The Mighty Lemon Drops, The Mission, Gene Loves Jezebel, Texas and The House of Love. In 1989, Palmer produced Tin Machine's debut LP.
In the 1990s, Palmer turned his attention to mixing and remixing, working with bands such as Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam, Blue October, Sponge, Wire Train, James, Catherine Wheel, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, The Cure, and Concrete Blonde. He also produced Tears For Fears' Elemental (1993) and Raoul and the Kings of Spain (1995) albums.
Palmer moved to Los Angeles, CA to build his own mixing facility. He mixed several tracks on U2's 2000 album, All That You Can't Leave Behind and produced the albums Dark Light and Venus Doom by HIM as well as Switchfoot's Oh! Gravity. He also co-wrote and produced Ozzy Osbourne's 2001 album Down to Earth, and mixed Porcupine Tree's album In Absentia in 2002.
