They call this the rebound effect or 'dielectric absorption'. The question is, is that what it really is? Could this be a polarization of the Zero Point Energy Field. If so, then it is in my opinion that Tesla exploited this concept to harness free energy as he discharged very high voltage, low capacitance capacitors all the time in his coils. In all my research with Tesla Coils I have never seen a voltage gain in Tesla Coils, unless it's from a transmitting coil high above the earth in which it captures atmospheric charge and sends it to multiple receiver coils. So perhaps there is a type of anomaly going on with the discharge of capacitors alone. RECAP: 1. A capacitor is kept shorted for a while to keep the voltage at a voltage of zero and completely at rest. 2, The short is removed and the voltage remains at zero. 3. The capacitor is charged to a high voltage. 170V in this case, plus current leakage found in all caps especially the lower capacitance ones. 4. The cap is discharged from the high voltage back to 0V again. The cap is kept shorted on 0V for a much longer time it took to charge it. Time is usually equated with wattage (watt hours, seconds, whatever.) At this point I would like to say that if a capacitor is charged to a certain voltage then it's safe to say it has received a certain amount of current as well. Therefore a certain amount of WATTAGE has entered into the cap and this is 100% of the energy we are working with now. Now for the interesting part. If we discharge that 100% WATTAGE by shorting it, haven't we done just that? Whatever we charge it with we have now discharged. From 0V to 170V then from 170V to 0V. Yet when we release the short there appears to be an extra 10% voltage of the original voltage that we started out with and to further this argument it is kept on 0V as the meter displays for a much longer time than when it was charged. If it takes longer to discharge than what it takes to charge it, aren't we making sure that we have discharged all 100% of the energy that we started out with? If so then where and why is there and extra 10% of the voltage? The effect is much more noticeable with much higher voltages. For instance if a 500V was charged into a cap, then shorted to zero, then the short released you would see the capacitor shoot back up to 50V or more very rapidly. Just a bit strange don't you think?
