Marcia Wallace, Star of 'The Simpsons' and 'Bob Newhart Show,' Dies at 70
msalam at Yahoo TV7 hrs agoMarcia Wallace, an Emmy-winning character actress on two of TV's most enduring shows, has died. She was 70.
Wallace passed away Friday in Los Angeles. Her cause of death was not immediately announced, but Cathryn Michon, who co-wrote and directed Wallace's final movie, "Muffin Top," gave this statement to Deadline: "She passed at 9 p.m. last night due to complications from breast cancer of which she was a long and proud survivor and advocate for women and healing. Ironically it was during breast cancer awareness month during which she was always a funny ray of hope for so many. I’m devastated."
Wallace rose to fame in the 1970s as joke-cracking receptionist Carol Kester on "The Bob Newhart Show." The role of Kester was written specifically for Wallace after producers took note of her many appearances on "The Merv Griffin Show."
'Breaking Bad' Stays Super Cool on Ice
msalam at Yahoo TV1 day agoIs there such a thing as too much "Breaking Bad"? Nope! Sure, the addictive AMC hit show has been over for nearly a month, but fans are still fiending for the meth-fueled drama. One way to cool off devotees (at least temporarily): Put the action on ice. That's exactly what "Breaking Bad" assistant editor Sharidan Williams-Sotelo did, shooting a pretty dramatic Ice Capades-inspired homage appropriately titled "Breaking Ice."

Halloween POPsessions: Which Horror Movie Does 'The Munsters' Star Butch Patrick Find Too 'Gross and Violent'?
kimp at Yahoo TV1 day agoInstead of a teddy bear he carried a toy werewolf named Woof-Woof, he had the most memorable widow's peak in the history of primetime (and hair), and he was the sole offspring of Herman and Lily Munster … yes, of course, we're talking about Butch Patrick, the actor who beat out more than 500 other kid actors to win the role of Edward Wolfgang "Eddie" Munster on the classic CBS comedy "The Munsters."
Patrick — real name Patrick Alan Lilley — also starred in the Sid and Marty Krofft Saturday morning series "Lidsville," guest starred on series like "Bonanza," "Rawhide," "Family Affair," "Adam-12," "Ironside," and "My Three Sons," and even performed a song about his "Munsters" alter ego — "Whatever Happened to Eddie?" — with his band Eddie & the Monsters.
With all this monster fun on his résumé, we asked the TV legend to share his cool ghoul favorites with us, from what scares him the most and the first horror flick he ever saw to who he thinks is the scariest real-world monster ever and the horror flick he'll never watch again.
How Rob Corddry Gets Big Stars to Check Into 'Childrens Hospital'
rchan at Yahoo TV2 days ago“If you had asked me that question eight months ago, I would have said we were done. After shooting this current season, I finished the last day with a fever of 102 and stayed in bed for a week.”
The question was, “Is 'Childrens Hospital' on its last legs?” Yahoo TV talked with Rob Corddry, creator and star of the Adult Swim show that has garnered two Emmys in its first four seasons; the Season 5 finale airs October 24 at midnight.
Corddry already gets a lot of work in film and television; his most recent film, “Hot Tub Time Machine 2," is due out in 2014. So why is he driving himself past the brink of exhaustion to make such a small show for almost no money? “When doing sketch, I didn't get paid for anything until I started doing commercials in '96 or '97, and even then I still had to have a temp job. So it never felt like anything I was doing for money.”
'Murder, She Wrote' Rebooted ... With a Twist
daven at Yahoo TV2 days agoJessica Fletcher is digging her typewriter out of storage... and she looks a lot different this time.
NBC announced today it is rebooting "Murder, She Wrote," with Oscar winner Octavia Spencer in the lead role. The original series, of course, starred Angela Lansbury as mystery writer-turned-detective Jessica Fletcher (a role that earned her a whopping 12 Emmy nominations — but no wins), and was a staple of CBS's primetime lineup from 1984 to 1996.
The 14 Weirdest FCC Complaints About 'The Simpsons'
rchan at Yahoo TV2 days agoThe Freedom of Information act is a valuable tool for exposing corruption and keeping our government honest. Also, you can use it to see what ordinary folks are complaining to the FCC about, which is way more fun. They run the gamut from reasonable to absolutely bonkers.
Here are some of the silliest and/or saddest complaints from the last three years of "The Simpsons."
1. "One line was about whipping someone's toosh."
What? No! Shocking! "Toosh whipping" is right up there with "peeping at your tinky-winky" and "patting your bum bum" in terms of unacceptable vulgarities!
2. "Mr. Simpson was in his house totally nude & went outside naked while his neighbor was watering her grass."
Frankly, we've seen Homer Simpsons butt more than we've seen our own butts and it's been on TV for 25 years, so it's a little late to start complaining now.
3. "There's a scene were homer is in a meth lab and about to hit the merge pipe."
"Merge pipe"? Did we miss that episode of "Breaking Bad"?
Sarah Silverman Posts Her Failed Pilot Online, Plus Where to See Other Dead Pilots
kellywoo at Yahoo TV3 days agoEvery pilot season, TV fans hear about intriguing pilots featuring their favorite stars. When those pilots don't get picked up and made into series by networks, they disappear into the Graveyard of Failed Pilots, never to be seen again.
But that was then; more and more, producers and stars are starting to release these unseen-by-the-public pilots. Sarah Silverman did just that with "Susan 313," the semi-autobiographical comedy that she did for NBC last year.
Silverman recently posted the pilot on YouTube (with permission from the studio, 20th Century Fox) with an intro noting she held no grudges against NBC for not picking up the show. "They probably did the right thing," she said.

Fans Not Quite in Love With Colorized 'I Love Lucy' Christmas Special
tryder at Yahoo TV3 days agoCBS is taking some heat from "I Love Lucy" fans for messing with perfection.
On Tuesday, the network announced it would air "The I Love Lucy Christmas Special," made up of back-to-back colorized episodes of the beloved show, on December 20.
The episodes picked include the show’s little-seen Christmas clip show along with the fan favorite "Lucy's Italian Movie" (aka The One With the Grape-Stomping). According to CBS, each will be "colorized with a vintage look." Flashbacks in the "Christmas Episode" will remain in black-and-white to emphasize the time lapse, the network explained.
This isn't the first time CBS has tested the "I Love Lucy" colorized waters … but first, a little background on the rarely seen "Christmas Episode." It originally aired in December 1956, midway through the show's sixth and final season. However, since it was mostly made up of long flashback sequences from previous episodes, it was not included in the syndication package.
