Shithead (also known as Karma, Palace, Shed, Three Card Game and by many other names) is a card game similar to the Finnish game Paskahousu. In the game the object is to lose all of one's cards, with the last player to do so being the "shithead", who must deal the next game and may be subject to some minor forfeit of the group's choice, such as fetching the next round of drinks.
The game, and variations of it, is popular in many countries amongst backpackers, and as a result is widespread. Although the basic structure of the game generally remains constant there are often regional variations of the game's original rules.
There are many variations of the rules, and there is no universally accepted set. A common set of rules is listed here.
From a standard, shuffled deck of 52 cards, each player is dealt three face-down cards in a row. Players are not allowed to see or change these cards. On top of the face-down cards, they are dealt the same number of face-up cards. Three cards are again dealt to each player (face down), and this becomes the player's hand.
"Drugs" is a song by Ammonia, released as their debut single from their debut album Mint 400 in 1995, however two songs had been released prior as EPs, In A Box and Sleepwalking. The song was an instant hit and is still regarded as one of the band's most recognized songs.
Lead singer Dave Johnstone is quoted as saying 'There isn't really that much of a message, "Drugs" is about apathy towards drugs'. The song was written in five minutes during a rehearsal and peaked at #32 on the Australian Singles chart and came in at #27 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 for 1995. In North America, it reached #29 on the Billboard's Hot Modern Rock Tracks and #22 on the Canadian rock/alternative chart.

A COM file is a type of simple executable file. On the Digital Equipment operating systems of the 1970s, .COM
was used as a filename extension for text files containing commands to be issued to the operating system (similar to a batch file). With the introduction of CP/M (a microcomputer operating system), the type of files commonly associated with COM extension changed to that of executable files. This convention was later carried over to MS-DOS. Even when complemented by the more general .exe file format for executables, the compact COM files remain viable and frequently used in MS-DOS.
The .COM
file name extension has no relation to the .com (for "commercial") top-level Internet domain name. However, this similarity in name has been exploited by malicious computer virus writers.
The COM format is the original binary executable format used in CP/M and MS-DOS. It is very simple; it has no header (with the exception of CP/M 3 files), and contains no standard metadata, only code and data. This simplicity exacts a price: the binary has a maximum size of 65,280 (FF00h) bytes (256 bytes short of 64 KB) and stores all its code and data in one segment.
JPEG (/ˈdʒeɪpɛɡ/ JAY-peg) is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital images, particularly for those images produced by digital photography. The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality. JPEG typically achieves 10:1 compression with little perceptible loss in image quality.
JPEG compression is used in a number of image file formats. JPEG/Exif is the most common image format used by digital cameras and other photographic image capture devices; along with JPEG/JFIF, it is the most common format for storing and transmitting photographic images on the World Wide Web. These format variations are often not distinguished, and are simply called JPEG.
The term "JPEG" is an abbreviation for the Joint Photographic Experts Group, which created the standard. The MIME media type for JPEG is image/jpeg, except in older Internet Explorer versions, which provides a MIME type of image/pjpeg when uploading JPEG images. JPEG files usually have a filename extension of .jpg or .jpeg.
Some people are will to try to tell you this card game is called Palace, but I'm sorry, if you call it Palace no one is going to know what you are talking about. The goal is to not be the last person with cards or you'll be "The Shithead!" This is a modern card game that comes from Europe. It is wildly popular, especially with young backpackers who travel around while teaching it to their new friends. --------- Thanks to all the Instagrammers that contributed photos and clips for this video! • Never played 'Shithead'? • Need to explain this great game to another? • Can't remember the special cards? This video shows you all you need to know to play the most common variant: you will need: • Between 2-5 players • About 5-10 minutes per game • 52 normal playing cards (no jokers) Optionally: • This video as reference • Something to keep score with • Imagination for additional rules (3's invisible, 8's ignore, 9's change direction...) Want to play with 6? - Use the jokers (decide before what they're worth) Want to play with up to 10? Use two packs (no jokers) and 6 cards the same on top of each other burns the pack... Let me know how you get on, and other variants you know. ***Language teachers*** Why not get your students to crowd source a translati...
This video is about my variation of Shithead. It covers the basics of play and the power cards that are used. This is the first video that covers how the game is played out and I am posting a second video that will cover some of the other little nuances that I didn't get a chance to cover. If anyone has questions or needs clarity on any of the rules, please leave a comment or message me directly. I'll leave the link to Twitter until I get a better set up. Mobile.twitter.com/ShitheadCards As someone pointed out, I goofed. This was a stacked deck for demonstrable purposes and I didn't cover what happens if you don't have a card that can be played from your hand. If you cannot make a legal play, you have to pick up the entire pile of cards so far. Since I'm here, I made this for people wh...
Tutorial on how to play this popular card game. Looking back at the final six cards now, player 2 could have played both kings down. (An alternative way to play the end 6 cards is that you can only play one card at a time regardless of the value)
This is of course just one way to play, there are many others, with completely different power card rules. Why not make up your own?! An 8 could be a ‘see through’ card, a King could reverse the order of play, or the Ace of Spades could mean everyone has to sing the entire Motörhead song at the top of their lungs. I left this out but a scoring system based on whoever lost or whoever went out first on each round might add extra value for longer sessions... However you play I hope you have fun!! Thanks to Pub of the Week ‘Fox and Crown’ in Newark, Nottinghamshire for letting us film and drink all of your beer.
