Robert LeBlanc of ICS talks about how they are able to grind and polish a concrete floor with almost no dust fallout. ICS uses its proprietary dust collection and filtration to achieve this at Green Mountain Coffee Roaster's industrial facility. Concrete grinders come in very large assortment of options. I am going to try and give you a quick synopsis of all the options and choices. But first, let me tell you why ICS is uniquely qualified to give you advise about concrete grinders. In addition to owning about 20 of them from medium size to very large in size, we also have built our own from scratch. Concrete grinders can be broken into two categories either wet or dry and then either walk behind or ride on. Each has its place on the right job site. Some jobs are so dust sensitive you are virtually forced to grind wet. Some jobs have nowhere to dispose of water and need to be done dry. Most jobs today are performed dry with special hepa vac systems. We have designed and built our own hepa vac system that will be featured on a separate video. Concrete grinders come in 3 or 4 head designs, as well as, orbital or planetary platforms. Some are powered by propane but most are powered by three phase electric in either a 240 or 460 volt systems. Hand grinders, small vacs and power sources come into play when deciding which grinder best suites a contractors or a projects needs. Diamond tooling and densifiers are also key components when choosing the right concrete grinder and systems for any job. ICS has upwards of 10-12 grinders out in the field working every week and we have designed, built or retrofitted almost every piece of equipment we operate.
