My first steps in type design
I would like to speak about my personal story in type design. I grew up in a nonartistic home. I took my steps in art thanks to my talent to draw. I met appreciation in that field. That’s why I started to think about the graphic design department. There I discover typography and totally fall into. I decided to become a professional typographer and type designer. To make it happen I had to solve many problems I meet on my way. Face critique and the fact that typography contains many rules I didn't know at that time. I also struggle with that I wasn’t skilled at the beginning. I didn’t have anyone around to help me with advice on how to exactly do a good font. So I had on my own check what works and whatnot. I want to describe my attempts and show some examples. I did around 10 fonts. Some o...

Some of them were rather bad but I learned thanks to them. Some finally started to look good. I will show you some of my fonts from the beginning and tell a few words about them.

A lot of people have asked how to go about creating their own font. This isn't exactly I do it (see my stuff at http://www.finck.co ) but it is cheaper, and in some ways simpler/quicker/easier.
In less than 20 minutes you'll learn a few different ways to make glyphs, some kerning, and general practices. Enjoy.
* Note, this is an unsolicited view made using Glyphs Mini. They did not contact me or give me free software/money to make the video. I'm just impressed with the app (bugs and all).
