Rafi & Asha - Dil Use Do Jo Jaan De De - Andaz [1971]
"Andaz" (Hindi: अन्दाज़, Persian, Urdu: اَنداز) is a 1971 Hindi romantic movie starring Shammi Kapoor, Hema Malini, Rajesh Khanna, Simi Garewal, Aruna Irani and Achala Sachdev. The film was directed by Ramesh Sippy.
Andaz was one of the last movies for which the great music directors duo, Shankar- Jaikishan composed music together. Jaikishan died of cirrhosis of the liver on September 12, 1971 at the young age of 42. Coincidentally, one of the most popular songs from this film - Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana, Yahaan Kal Kya Ho Kisne Jaana ( Life is a beautiful journey, One never knows what's going to happen tomorrow) turned out to be the last song that Jaikishan recorded before his untimely death.
Andaz also proved to be the last hit for Shammi Kapoor as a lead hero. Even the success of this movie is credited to the Rajesh Khanna Mania of the 70's, as Rajesh Khanna only appeared for five minutes in the movie, and still created a stir. However, Shammi Kapoors performance was well received and it has been one of his most uncharacteristic roles of his career.....

Andaz is a 1971 Hindi romantic movie starring Shammi Kapoor, Hema Malini and Rajesh Khanna. The film was directed by Ramesh Sippy.Andaz was one of the last movies for which the great music directors duo, Shankar- Jaikishan composed music together. Jaikishan died of cirrhosis of the liver on 12 September 1971 at the young age of 42.
Rajesh Khanna (born Jatin Khanna on 29 December 1942 in Amritsar) is an Indian Bollywood . He married Dimple Kapadia, a Gujarati, in 1973 and has two daughters from the marriage. Khanna and Dimple Kapadia separated in 1984, as his schedule kept him away much of the time and she became interested in pursuing an acting career.
After the separation, he was romantically involved with Tina Munim for a period of time. Following a few years of separation, the relationship between Kapadia and Khanna blossomed once again, and remained that of close friends. He made his film debut in the 1966 film Aakhri khat, followed by Raaz opposite heroine Babita, but neither was a major success. He was noticed for his performance in his next film Baharon Ke Sapne which was followed by box office successes like Aurat (1967), Khamoshi, and Aradhana (1969). Established as a popular protagonist, he appeared in many romantic, melodramatic and social films, often appearing with the same actresses - such as Sharmila Tagore, Mumtaz, Hema Malini and Asha Parekh.
During the peak of his career he would be mobbed during public appearances. Fans kissed his car, which would be covered with lipstick marks, and lined the road, cheering and chanting his name. Female fans sent him letters written in their own blood.
Several songs sung by Kishore Kumar in the 1970s were based on Rajesh Khanna.during the filming of the song 'mere sapnon ki rani' aradhana sharmila tagore was shooting for a satya jit rai film and the director shakti samanta had to shoot their scenes separately and then join the scenes together. needless to say this was the the most popular song of its generation and went on to become the biggest attraction of the movie aradhana.
Rajesh Khanna had 15 consecutive hits between 1969 to 1972, which is still an unbreakable record in Indian film. His success began to diminish in terms of box office results of his films in the mid 1970s (1976-78) to some extent owing to various factors, including internal politics against him in film industry, his sudden marriage with Dimple Kapadia, emergence of action oriented masala films and young generation heros like Rishi Kapoor, the introduction of video (VCR) in India and its resulting decrease in number of family audiences at Cinema halls.Post-1976,
Khanna had a string of box office flops, including Aaina and Mehbooba. Media reports in the late seventies suggested that success had perhaps caused Khanna to be complacent, often turning up late for shoots and throwing tantrums, as well as having a whole entourage of sycophants accompany him for his shoots. This behaviour coupled with the changing trend from romantic and social movies to action oriented multi-star films in the late-1970s and early-1980s caused the decline of Khanna's career in terms of box office ratings to some extent. However, he continued basically in solo hero social sober household meaningful films during multistar masala films' era.
Khanna met with more success in challenging roles with critically acclaimed box office hits such as ,Amardeep,Thodi Si Bewafai, Dard, 'Dhanwaan' 'Avtaar' 'Agar Tum Na Hote, Souten,Red Rose etc. (1979 onwards to end of 80s). He also performed in few multistar films with central characters such as Kudrat, Rajpoot, Dharam Aur Kanoon, and Ashanti. He shared a very close relationship with R.D.Burman and Kishore Kumar. The trio were very close friends and have worked together in more than thirty films. Several actors who were part of the cast of most of his films included Sujith Kumar, Prem Chopra, Madan Puri, Asrani, Bindu, Vijay Arora and A K Hangal, who remained part of his "team" until the late eighties.
From the early nineties onwards he stopped acting and served as M.P. of New Delhi Constituency from 1991 to 1996. During that period, he returned to acting, appearing in Khudai (1994). He made a come back as a NRI in Aa Ab Laut Chalen (1999), and Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa (2002). In September 2007, he officially announced his planned return to the big screen, signing a contract for several new films, including some TV serials.

He is also widely regarded as the most versatile singer in the history of Indian cinema and a maverick of sorts for lending his voice to songs that did not conform to the norms of the day.
In October 1987, he died following a massive heart attack. He had been married four times and is survived by his two sons Amit Kumar, who made his career in playback singing in Bollywood and Bengali films, and Sumit Kumar.

Mohammed Rafi (Hindi: मोहम्मद रफ़ी, Urdu: محمد رفیع; December 24, 1924 July 31, 1980), often addressed as Rafi Sahib, was an Indian playback singer whose career spanned four decades and is one of the most versatile male singers in the history of Indian cinema. Rafi sang in many Indian languages including Hindi, Urdu, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Sindhi, Kannada and Telugu. He also recorded English and Persian songs. He is primarily remembered, however, for his Hindi songs, which still remain very popular in India today and also among the Indian diaspora. He dominated the Bollywood music industry from the 1950s to the 1970s along with Mukesh, Manna Dey, and Kishore Kumar.
Between 1950 and 1970, Rafi was one of the most sought after singers in Bollywood.
In 1965, he was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Sri award.
On Thursday, July 31, 1980, Rafi died at 10:50 p.m., following a massive heart attack. His last song was "Shaam phir kyun udaas hai dost" (Aas Paas), which he had recorded with Laxmikant-Pyarelal couple of days before his death. He was survived by four sons (Saeed Rafi, Khalid Rafi, Hamid Rafi, Shahid Rafi), 3 daughters (Parveen, Nasreen, Yasmin) and 18 grandchildren. Naushad wrote on Rafi's Death- " Goonjte hai teri awaz ameero ke mahal me. jhopro ki gharibon me bhi hay tere saaz, yu to apne mousiki par sab ka fakr hota hai magar ay mere saathi mousiki ko bhi aaz tujh paar naaz hai "
Rafi's funeral procession was recorded on a very rainy day in Mumbai. A portion of that same recording has been used in one of the Hindi movie released later. It was one of the biggest funeral processions mumbai had ever witnessed, with over 10,000 people attending.
The Padma Shri Mohammed Rafi Chowk in the Bandra suburb of Mumbai is named after Rafi. Lata Mangeshkar quotes on Rafi- " saral man ke insan Rafisab, bahut suriley the, yea meri khus kismati hai ke maine unke saath sabse jada gana gaye. gana kaise bhi wo aise ga lete the ke gana na samajhne wale bhi bah bah kar utht te the. Aise gayak bar bar janam nahi lete."
A documentary about Rafis life is under production by The Films Division of India.
On September 22, 2007 a shrine to Rafi designed by artist Tasawar Bashir was unveiled in Birmingham. Bashir is hoping that Rafi will attain sainthood as a result.

Kishore & Asha - Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana - Andaz [1971]
Kishore Kumar ( Hindi: किशोर कुमार) (August 4, 1929 October 13, 1987) was Indian film playback singer and actor. Along with Mukesh and Mohammed Rafi, he dominated Indian film playback music from the 1950s to the 1970s. Kumar also achieved notable success as a lyricist, composer, producer, director, screenwriter and scriptwriter.
Kishore Kumar was a prolific vocalist and sang in many Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malayalam and Oriya.

Asha Bhosle (Marathi: आशा भोंसले) (born September 8, 1933) is an Indian singer. She is best known as a Bollywood playback singer, although she has a much wider repertoire. Her career started in 1943 and has spanned over six decades. She has done playback singing for over 1000 Bollywood movies and sold many records. She is the sister of the equally accomplished Lata Mangeshkar.
Asha Bhosle has won seven Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards out of 18 nominations. She won her first two awards in 1967 and 1968, when Lata Mangeshkar still used to accept the award (Mangeshkar asked not to be considered for the award nominations after 1969 to promote new talent). After receiving the award in 1979, Bhosle emulated her elder sister and requested that her name not be considered for the nominations hereafter. Despite this, Bhosle is the most frequent winner of this award to date, tying with Alka Yagnik. She was later given a Special Award for Rangeela in 1996, and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.
* In 1997, Asha became the first Indian singer to be nominated for the Grammy Award, for Legacy, an album with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. * She was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan by the Government of India.
Asha Bhosle received Padma Vibhushan from President Pratibha Patil on Monday May 5, 2008.
