To create a Facebook ad or sponsored story:
- Go to the ads create tool
- Choose an advertising objective. Depending on the results you want from your ad, you can choose what advertising objective you want to create an ad for.
- Type in what you want to advertise and click Continue
Once you choose what you want to advertise, you're going to select images for your ad.
You can choose the location, gender, age, likes and interests, relationship status, workplace and education of your target audience. If you are the admin of a Facebook Page, event or app, you can also target your ad to people who are already connected to you.

The cost of your ads on Facebook is up to you. You can choose between a daily or a lifetime budget, as well as a cost per thousand impressions bid (CPM) or cost per click bid (CPC). You'll only pay for the clicks or impressions you receive, up to the amount you set for your budget, and can view the cost of your ads in real time from your ads manager.
Find out what works in your ad text and for your audience by experimenting with a variety of ads and reviewing your performance reports on a regular basis. To get started, use some of these tips:
- Include a clear action you want your audience to take in the body text of your ad
- Highlight any benefits, sales or similar specials that your business is offering
- Use a simple, eye-catching image that is related to your ad text
- If you’re advertising a website, include your business name or other key information in the headline
