World Cup 1970 Final - Brazil 4:1 Italy
1:0 Pelé (19.) 1:1 Roberto Boninsegna (37.) 2:1 Gerson (65.) 3:1 Jairzinho (70.) 4:1 Carlos Alberto Torres (86.) In the 1970 World Cup Final, Brazil struck first, with Pelé heading in a cross by Rivelino at the 18th minute. Roberto Boninsegna equalized for Italy after a blunder in the Brazilian defence. In the second half, Brazil's firepower and creativity was too much for an Italian side that clung to their cautious defensive system. Gérson fired in a powerful shot for the second goal, and then helped provide the third, with a long free kick to Pelé who headed down into the path of the onrushing Jairzinho. Pelé capped his superb performance by drawing the Italian defence in the centre and feeding captain Carlos Alberto on the right flank for the final score. Carlos Alberto's goal, after a series of moves by the Brazilian team from the left to the centre, is considered one of the greatest goals ever scored in the history of the tournament. A total of 8 outfield players from Brazil passed the ball until Captain Carlos Alberto hammered the ball into the corner of the Italian goal following an inch perfect pass across the Italian 18 yard box from Pelé, prompted by the intelligent Tostão, who, with his back to the goal, told Pelé that Alberto was steaming in on the right flank. Tostão started the move 5 yards from the left of the Brazilian 18 yard box, then ran the length of the field to the Italian box without touching the ball again to tell Pelé to lay it off for Alberto. The players involved in the passes in order were Tostão, Brito, Clodoaldo, Pelé, Gérson, defender Clodoaldo beat 4 Italian players in his own half before passing to Rivelino who hit a perfect pass down the wing to Jairzinho. Jairzinho crossed from the wing to the centre of the box to Pelé who held the ball up to play a pass for Alberto to smash it home. The only outfield players not involved in the move were Everaldo and Piazza. The full team was Carlos Alberto, Felix, Piazza, Brito, Clodoaldo, Everaldo Antonio, Jairzinho, Gérson, Tostão, Pelé and Rivelino. Brazil won the World Cup with 19 goals scored by 7 players, all of whom featured in the Carlos Alberto goal. Before the finals in Mexico, Brazil had to play the qualifying rounds against Colombia, Venezuela and Paraguay. Brazil was far superior winning all 6 games, scoring 23 goals and conceding only 2. In the last match of the qualifying rounds Brazil beat Paraguay 1-0 and had the largest official audience ever recorded for a football match, with 183,341 spectators in Brazil's Maracanã Stadium. In total the Brazilian team won all 12 games , scoring 42 goals and conceding only 8. This victory consecrated the first tri-campeão (three-time champions) in football history. With this third win after 1958 and 1962, Brazil earned the right to retain the Jules Rimet Trophy permanently. (Ironically, it was stolen in 1983 while on display in Rio de Janeiro and never recovered.) Brazilian coach Mário Zagallo was the first footballer to become World Cup champion as a player (1958, 1962) and a coach, and Pelé ended his World Cup playing career as the first (and so far only) three-time winner. http://www.wikipedia.org/- published: 19 Feb 2014

GOLAZO RONALDO !! Luis Figo Edgar Davids Zinédine Zidane Claude Makelele !!!
Zidane and Retired Ronaldo held their annual UN match against poverty, this time playing on the same side (along with the likes of Luis Figo, Edgar Davids, Fabio Cannavaro and Claude Makelele) against a Hamburg old boys team. The game was, predictably, a goalfest. Ronaldo and Zidane's team won 5-4, thanks in part to a goal from the legendary Brazilian himself. With an ambitious run in the first half, Ronaldo (who only just retired earlier this year) didn't quite move with the grace for which he was known, but after making a move/stumbling at the top of the box and passing back and forth with Didier Drogba, he snuck an effortless shot just inside the post. He may not have his fitness anymore, but he still has his scoring touch.- published: 19 Feb 2014

Franco Baresi - The Italian Legend
Franco Baresi - The Italian Legend
Franco Baresi is a giant in the history of Italian Football, one of the greatest defenders ever. In Italy, they call them 'giocatori bandiera', or 'flag players', the footballers who devote their careers to one club, to one flag. For A.C. Milan, Franco Baresi is the supreme 'giocatore bandiera'. In 1980, while Baresi was still a teenager, Milan were relegated to from Serie A in disgrace for fixing a match with Lazio. In 1982, with Baresi already appointed team captain at the age of 22, Milan were back in Serie A but the team was so poor they were relegated again, this time for legitimate reasons. Despite these setbacks, Baresi made a commitment to stay at Milan and help the get the club back into the top division. Even in a relegation season, the young central defender had stood out as an exceptional footballer, and Milan's neighbours Internazionale were keen to sign him (Baresi's brother Giuseppe, an Italian international, was Inter's rightback at the time). But Baresi stayed with Milan, where he helped them rise from Serie B to become the undisputed champions of Italy and of Europe. In a career spanning 716 games for the 'rossoneri', he won 6 Italian titles. His achievements in Europe were even more impressive: Baresi provided the defensive bedrock to the great Milan team of Gullit, Rijkaard and Van Basten, bringing the European Cup back to the San Siro in 1989, 1990 and 1994. Baresi, it is said, never even considered playing for another club, and he wept as he waved farewell to the fans after his final appearance in 1997. The club recognised his loyalty by retiring his number 6 jersey and putting it on display in the club museum. George Weah Goal AC Milan vs Verona
George Weah Goal AC Milan vs Verona
At the pinnacle of success, Weah moved to Europe in 1988 when he was signed by Arsène Wenger,[5] the manager of Monaco, who Weah credits as an important influence on his career.[6] At Monaco, Weah was a member of the team that won the French Cup in 1991. In the 1990s Weah subsequently played for Paris Saint Germain (199295), with whom he won the French league in 1994; and AC Milan (19951999), with whom he won the Italian league in 1996 and 1999, and became the top scorer of the UEFA Champions League 199495. In 1995 he was named European Footballer of the Year and FIFA World Player of the Year. After leaving Milan in January 2000 Weah moved to Chelsea, Manchester City and Olympique Marseille in quick succession, before leaving Marseille in May 2001 for Al Jazira FC, in the United Arab Emirates. Weah's time in England was deemed a success, especially at Chelsea where he instantly endeared himself to their fans by scoring the winner against rivals Tottenham Hotpsur on his debut,[7] and scored further league goals against Wimbledon[8] and Liverpool.[9] He also scored twice in Chelsea's victorious 1999/2000 FA Cup campaign, netting crucial goals against Leicester City[10] and Gillingham.[11] This led to him starting in the final, which Chelsea won 1-0. At Manchester City he scored once in the league against Liverpool again,[12] and three times against Gillingham again, this time in the League Cup, once in the first leg[13] and twice in the second.[14] As successful as he was at club level, Weah was not able to bring over that success to the Liberian national team. He has done everything with the squad from playing to coaching to financing it, but failed to qualify for a single World Cup, falling just a point short in qualifying for the 2002 tournament. This has all led to Weah being known as one of the best footballers never to have played in a World Cup. World Fifa Player 1995 Weah was named world Fifa for 1995, becoming the only African player to win the award. He was the fifth recipient of the award. The Silver trophy was won by Paolo Maldini, and the Bronze by Jürgen Klinsmann. The other four recipients were: Lothar Matthaus '91, Marco Van Basten '92, Roberto Baggio '93, and Romario in '94. Weah also won the silver trophy the following year which was won by Brazilian striker Ronaldo. [edit]African Player of the Year 1989, 1994 and 1995 Weah won the African player of the year in 1989 when he was with AS Monaco and 1995 with AC Milan. That year he won almost every award a footballer could win. When he won the award in 1989, it was his first major award and he took it back home for the entire country to celebrate, similar to what he did when he won the world best title and the Onze Mondial title. And was a great and wonder ful player at that time in the world of football. [edit]European Player of the Year 1995 Weah won the European Player of the Year in 1995, becoming the only African to win the award. Sports writers from all over Europe voted and awarded Weah as the best player in Europe for the year. [edit]Onze Mondial 1995 The French Magazine name Weah as the top player in Europe for 1995 Fifa Fair Play Award 1996 African Player of the Century Weah was voted the African player of the Century by sport journalists from all around the world. This award puts Weah in the company of some of the greatest players to have ever played the game. Pelé won the same award as the South American player of the Century and Johan Cruijff as the European player of the century. [edit]Controversy Weah was banned from six European matches for breaking the nose of the Portuguese defender Jorge Costa on November 20, 1996 in the players' tunnel after AC Milan's draw at FC Porto. Weah said he exploded in frustration after putting up with racist tauntings from Costa during both of the teams' matches that autumn in the Champions League. Costa, who underwent facial surgery and was sidelined for three weeks, has avoided punishment by the UEFA. Despite the incident Weah still received the FIFA Fair Play Award in 1996.- published: 19 Feb 2014
