A modern raised-relief world globe

A globe is a three-dimensional scale model of Earth (terrestrial globe) or other spheroid celestial body such as a planet, star, or moon. It may also refer to a spherical representation of the celestial sphere, showing the apparent positions of the stars and constellations in the sky (celestial globe). The word "globe" comes from the Latin word globus, meaning round mass or sphere.

Contents

Terrestrial and planetary[link]

A globe is the only representation of the earth that does not distort either the shape or the size of large features; flat maps are created using a map projection that inevitably introduces an increasing amount of distortion the larger the area that the map shows. A typical scale for a terrestrial globe is roughly 1:40 million.

Sometimes a globe has surface texture showing topography; in these, elevations are exaggerated, otherwise they would be hardly visible. Most modern globes are also imprinted with parallels and meridians, so that one can tell the approximate coordinates of a specific place. Globes provide the best view of Earth today.

Celestial[link]

A German celestial globe c.1770

Celestial globes show the apparent positions of the stars in the sky. They omit the Sun, Moon and planets because the positions of these bodies vary relative to those of the stars, but the ecliptic, along which the Sun moves, is indicated.

A potential issue arises regarding the "handedness" of celestial globes. If the globe is constructed so that the stars are in the positions they actually occupy on the imaginary celestial sphere, then the star field will appear back-to-front on the surface of the globe (all the constellations will appear as their mirror images). This is because the view from Earth, positioned at the centre of the celestial sphere, is of the inside of the celestial sphere, whereas the celestial globe is viewed from the outside. For this reason, celestial globes may be produced in mirror image, so that at least the constellations appear the "right way round". Some modern celestial globes address this problem by making the surface of the globe transparent. The stars can then be placed in their proper positions and viewed through the globe, so that the view is of the inside of the celestial sphere, as it is from Earth.

History[link]

The "Erdapfel" of Martin Beheim is the oldest surviving terrestrial globe. The Americas are not yet included. 1491-1493. Germanisches Nationalmuseum Nuremberg

The sphericity of the Earth was established by Hellenistic astronomy in the 3rd century BC, and the earliest terrestrial globe appeared from that period. The earliest known example is the one constructed by Crates of Mallus in Cilicia (now Çukurova in modern-day Turkey), in the mid-2nd century BC.

No terrestrial globes from Antiquity or the Middle Ages have survived. An example of a surviving celestial globe is part of a Hellenistic sculpture, called the Farnese Atlas, surviving in a 2nd century AD Roman copy in the Naples Museum, Italy.[1]

Early terrestrial globes depicting the entirety of the Old World were constructed in the Islamic world.[2][3] According to David Woodward, one such example was the terrestrial globe introduced to Beijing by the Persian astronomer, Jamal ad-Din, in 1267.[4]

The oldest surviving terrestrial globe is the Erdapfel, created by Martin Behaim in Nuremberg, Germany, in 1492.[1] A facsimile globe showing America was made by Martin Waldseemueller in 1507. Another early globe, the Hunt-Lenox Globe, ca. 1507, is thought to be the source of the phrase "Here be dragons". Another "remarkably modern-looking" terrestrial globe of the Earth was constructed by Taqi al-Din at the Istanbul observatory of Taqi al-Din during the 1570s.[5]

An unusually high proportion of vintage 20th century world globes feature the Australian town of Birdum, which no longer exists but once held an important position at the end of the Northern Australian Railway.

Globus IMP electro-mechanical devices including five-inch globes have been used in Soviet and Russian spacecraft from 1961 to 2002 as navigation instruments. In 2001, the TMA version of the Soyuz spacecraft replaced this instrument with a virtual globe.[6]

Manufacture[link]

A short, 1955, Dutch film showing the manufacture of globes

Traditionally, globes were manufactured by gluing a printed paper map onto a sphere, often made from wood.

The most common type has long, thin gores (strips) of paper that narrow to a point at the poles,[7] small disks cover over the inevitable irregularities at these points. The more gores there are, the less stretching and crumpling is required to make the paper map fit the sphere. From a geometric point of view, all points on a sphere are equivalent – one could select any arbitrary point on the Earth, and create a paper map that covers the Earth with strips that come together at that point and the antipodal point.

A thermoplastic globe hemisphere, before the excess plastic has been trimmed off.

Modern globes are often made from thermoplastic. Flat, plastic disks are printed with a distorted map of one of the Earth's Hemispheres. This is placed in machine which molds the disk into a hemispherical shape. The hemisphere is united with its opposite counterpart to form a complete globe.

A globe is usually mounted at a 23.5° angle on a meridian. In addition to making it easy to use this mounting also represents the angle of the planet in relation to its sun and the spin of the planet. This makes it easy to visualize how days and seasons change.

  • Eartha, currently the world's largest rotating globe (41 ft or 12 m in diameter), at the Delorme headquarters in Yarmouth, Maine
  • The Mapparium, three-story, stained glass globe at the Mary Baker Eddy Library in Boston, which visitors walk through via a 30-foot (9.1 m) glass bridge.
  • The Babson globe in Wellesley, Massachusetts, a 26-foot-diameter (7.9 m) globe which originally rotated on its axis and on its base to simulate day and night and the seasons
  • The giant globe in the lobby of The News Building in New York City.
  • The Hitler Globe, also known as the Führer globe, was formally named the Columbus Globe for State and Industry Leaders. Two editions existed during Hitler's lifetime, created during the mid-1930s on his orders. (The second edition changed the name of Abyssinia to Italian East Africa). These globes were "enormous" and very costly. According to the New York Times, "the real Columbus globe was nearly the size of a Volkswagen and, at the time, more expensive." Several still exist, including three in Berlin: one at a geographical institute, one at the Märkisches Museum, and another at the Deutsches Historisches Museum. The latter has a Soviet bullet hole through Germany. One of the two in public collections in Munich has an American bullet hole through Germany. There are several in private hands inside and out of Germany. A much smaller version of Hitler's globe was mocked by Charlie Chaplin in The Great Dictator, a film released in 1940.[8]

In 1991, she starred in The Silence of the Lambs as Clarice Starling, a gifted FBI trainee, assisting in a hunt for a serial killer. Early life[link]

Foster was born in Los Angeles, California. She is the youngest of four children born to Evelyn Ella "Brandy" (née Almond) and Lucius Fisher Foster II. Her father, a decorated U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel turned real estate broker, came from a wealthy background and left his wife before Jodie was born.[2] Evelyn supported Jodie by working as a film producer.[3] Jodie has an older brother, Buddy, and two older sisters, Lucinda and Constance.[4] After appearing as a child in several commercials, Foster made her first credited TV appearance on The Doris Day Show. Her first film role was in the 1970 television movie Menace on the Mountain, which was followed by several Disney productions.

Foster attended a French-language prep school, the Lycée Français de Los Angeles, and graduated in 1980, as the valedictorian.[5] She frequently stayed and worked in France as a teenager, and still speaks the language fluently.[6] She attended Yale University, and was a member of Calhoun College and Manuscript Society.[7] She graduated magna cum laude,[8] earning a bachelor's degree in literature in 1985. She was scheduled to graduate in 1984, but the shooting of then-President Ronald Reagan by John Hinckley, Jr., in which Hinckley's fascination with Foster created unwanted adverse publicity for her,[9] caused her to take a semester's leave of absence from Yale.[10][11] She later gave the Class Day speech at her alma mater in 1993, and received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from the university in 1997.[8]

Fluent in French, Foster has dubbed herself in French-language versions of most of her films.[12][13] In 2004, she took a minor role in the French WWI film, A Very Long Engagement. She also understands German,[14][15] Spanish and can converse in Italian.[16]

Career[link]

Child star[link]

Jodie Foster with Christopher Connelly in Paper Moon, 1974.

Foster made nearly 50 film and television appearances before she attended college. She began her career at age three as a Coppertone Girl in a television commercial and debuted as a television actress in a 1968 episode of Mayberry R.F.D.[18] She was managed by her mother.[19] In 1969, she appeared in an episode of Gunsmoke, where she was credited as "Jody Foster". She is also credited as "Jodi Foster" for her 1970 Daniel Boone role and credited as "Jodie Foster" for her 1970 Adam-12 role. Although not a regular on The Courtship of Eddie's Father, she appeared from time to time as Eddie's friend Joey Kelly.[20] She made her film debut in the 1970 TV movie Menace on the Mountain and was featured as Tallulah in Bugsy Malone in 1976. As a child, Foster made a number of Disney movies, including Napoleon and Samantha (1972) and One Little Indian (1973), and she continued to star in Disney films into her early teens. On television, she appeared in an episode of The Partridge Family titled "The Eleven-Year Itch", co-starred with Christopher Connelly in the 1974 TV series Paper Moon and alongside Martin Sheen in the 1976 cult film The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane. As a teenager, Foster made several appearances on the French pop music circuit as a singer. Commenting on her years as a child actress, which she describes as an "actor's career", Foster has said that "it was very clear to me at a young age that I had to fight for my life and that if I didn't, my life would get gobbled up and taken away from me."[21] She hosted Saturday Night Live at age 14, making her the youngest person to host at that time until Drew Barrymore hosted at the age of seven.[citation needed] She also said,

I think all of us when we look back on our childhood, we always think of it as somebody else. It's just a completely different place. But I was lucky to be around in the '70s and to really be making movies in the '70s with some great filmmakers – the most exciting time, for me, in American Cinema. I learned a lot from some very interesting artists – and I learned a lot about the business at a young age, because, for whatever reason, I was paying attention; so it was kind of invaluable in my career.[22]

Foster made her debut (and only official) musical recordings in France in 1977: two seven-inch singles, "Je T'attends Depuis la Nuit des Temps" b/w "La Vie C'est Chouette"[23] and "When I Looked at Your Face" backed with "La Vie C'est Chouette". The A-side of the former is sung in French, the A-side of the latter in English. The B-side of both is mostly spoken word and is performed in both French and English. These three recordings were included on the soundtrack to Foster's 1977 French film Moi, fleur bleue.

Foster starred in three films in 1976: Taxi Driver, Bugsy Malone, and Freaky Friday. She was nominated for the Academy Award For Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Taxi Driver. She won two British Academy Film Awards in 1977: the BAFTA Award for Best Newcomer and the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her performances in Bugsy Malone opposite Scott Baio and Taxi Driver opposite Robert De Niro. She received a nomination for Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her performance in Freaky Friday. As a teenager, she also starred in the Disney adventure Candleshoe (1977) and the coming-of-age drama Foxes (1980).

Target of fan obsession[link]

John Hinckley, Jr., became obsessed with Foster after watching Taxi Driver a number of times,[24][25] and stalked her while she attended Yale, sending her love letters to her campus mail box and even talking to her on the phone. On March 30, 1981, he attempted to assassinate U.S. President Ronald Reagan (shooting and wounding Reagan and three others) and claimed his motive was to impress Foster, then a Yale freshman. The media stormed the Yale campus in April "like a cavalry invasion," and followed Foster relentlessly.[26][27]

Another man, Edward Richardson, followed Foster around Yale and planned to shoot her, but decided against it because she "was too pretty."[28] This all caused intense discomfort to Foster and reporters have constantly been warned in advance not to bring up the subject in front of her, as she has been known to walk out of interviews if Hinckley's name is even mentioned.[28] In 1991, Foster canceled an interview with NBC's Today Show when she discovered Hinckley would be mentioned in the introduction.[28] Foster's only public reactions to this were a press conference afterwards and an article titled "Why Me?" that she wrote for Esquire in December 1982. In that article she wrote that returning to work on the film Svengali with Peter O'Toole "made me fall in love with acting again"[29] after the assassination attempt had shaken her confidence. In 1999, she discussed the experience with Charlie Rose of 60 Minutes II.[30]

Adult career[link]

At the 61st Academy Awards Governor's Ball, March 29, 1989.

Unlike other child stars such as Shirley Temple or Tatum O'Neal, Foster successfully made the transition to adult roles, but it was not without initial difficulty, as several of the films in her early adult career were financially unsuccessful. These included The Hotel New Hampshire,[31] Five Corners,[32] and Stealing Home.[33] She had to audition for her role in The Accused. She won the part and the first of her two Golden Globes and Academy Awards and a nomination for a BAFTA Award as Best Actress for her role as a rape survivor. She starred as FBI trainee Clarice Starling in the 1991 thriller The Silence of the Lambs, for which she won her second Academy Award and Golden Globe, and won her first BAFTA Award for Best Actress. This is the film for which Foster has won the most awards. This "sleeper" film marked a breakthrough in her career, grossing nearly $273 million in theaters[34] and becoming her first blockbuster.[35]

Foster made her directorial debut in 1991, with Little Man Tate, a critically acclaimed[36] drama about a child prodigy, in which she also co-starred as the child's mother. She also directed Home for the Holidays (1995), a black comedy starring Holly Hunter and Robert Downey Jr.[22] In 1992, Foster founded a production company called Egg Pictures in Los Angeles. It primarily produced independent films for distribution by other companies until it was closed in 2001. Foster said that she did not have the ambition to produce "big mainstream popcorn" movies and, as a child, independent films had made her more interested in the movie business than mainstream ones.[22] She played Laurel Sommersby in Sommersby opposite Richard Gere, who would comment that "She's very much a close-up actress, because her thoughts are clear."[37]

Foster starred in two films in 1994, first in the hugely successful western spoof Maverick[38] and later in Nell, in which she starred as an isolated woman who speaks an invented language and must return to civilization. Her performance earned her nominations for her fourth Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and an MTV Movie Award, and won her a Screen Actors Guild Award and a People's Choice Award. In 1996, Women in Film awarded her the Crystal Award for outstanding women who, through their endurance and the excellence of their work, have helped to expand the role of women within the entertainment industry.[39] In the same year, Foster was awarded with the Berlinale Camera award at the 46th Berlin International Film Festival.[40]

In 1997, she starred alongside Matthew McConaughey in the science-fiction movie Contact, based on the novel by scientist Carl Sagan. She portrayed a scientist searching for extraterrestrial life in the SETI project. She commented on the script that "I have to have some acute personal connection with the material. And that's pretty hard for me to find."[citation needed] Contact was her first sci-fi film, and her first experience with a bluescreen. She commented, "Blue walls, blue roof. It was just blue, blue, blue. And I was rotated on a lazy Susan with the camera moving on a computerized arm. It was really tough."[41]

The film was another commercial success[42] and earned Foster nominations for numerous awards, including a Golden Globe. In 1998, an asteroid, 17744 Jodiefoster, was named in her honor.[43] In 1999, she starred in the non-musical remake of The King and I titled Anna and the King, which became an international commercial success.[44]

Foster at the 62nd Academy Awards ceremonies in 1990.

In 2002, Foster took over the lead role in the thriller Panic Room after Nicole Kidman dropped out due to a previous injury.[45] The film costarred Forest Whitaker, Jared Leto, Dwight Yoakam and Kristen Stewart and was directed by David Fincher. It grossed over $30 million in its opening weekend in the United States, Foster's biggest box office opening success of her career so far.[22] She then performed in the French-language film Un long dimanche de fiançailles (A Very Long Engagement) (2004), speaking French fluently throughout. She returned to English-language films with the 2005 thriller Flightplan, which opened once again in the top position at the U.S. box office and was a worldwide hit.[46] She portrayed a woman whose daughter disappears on an airplane that her character, an engineer, helped to design.[47]

In 2006, Foster co-starred in Inside Man, a thriller directed by Spike Lee and starring Denzel Washington and Clive Owen, which again opened at the top of the U.S. box office and became another international hit.[48] In 2007, she starred in The Brave One directed by Neil Jordan and co-starring Terrence Howard, another urban thriller that opened at No.1 at the U.S. box office.[49] Her performance in the film earned her a sixth Golden Globe for Best Actress nomination and another People's Choice nomination, for Favorite Female Action Star. Commenting on her latest roles, she has said she enjoys appearing in mainstream genre films that have a "real heart to them."[50]

In 2008, Foster starred in Nim's Island alongside Gerard Butler and Abigail Breslin, portraying a reclusive writer who is contacted by a young girl after her father goes missing at sea. The film was the first comedy that Foster has starred in since Maverick in 1994, and was also a commercial success.[51]

Foster was set to direct, as well as reunite with actor Robert De Niro, for the film Sugarland; however, the film was shelved indefinitely in 2007. Foster is developing a biographical film of Leni Riefenstahl. She directs and stars opposite her Maverick co-star Mel Gibson in a black comedy titled The Beaver, out in April 2011.[52]

Foster provided her voice for Maggie in a tetralogy episode of The Simpsons titled "Four Great Women and a Manicure."[53]

In March 2011, Foster said she planned to direct a family-oriented science-fiction thriller. At that point, she said, the project remained in the scripting stage.[54]

Personal life[link]

Foster has two older sisters, Lucinda "Cindy" Foster (b. 1954) and Constance "Connie" Foster (b. 1955), and an older brother, Lucius Fisher "Buddy" Foster[55] (b. 1957). During the filming of both Taxi Driver and The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane, Connie was her stand-in. Buddy Foster had his own career for several years appearing in regular spots on television shows such as Hondo and Mayberry, R.F.D. Foster and her brother have been estranged for many years. In 1997, he wrote a book titled Foster Child in which he stated, "I have always assumed Jodie was gay or bisexual."[55] In the book, he writes that she was conceived in her father's office three years after their parents divorced, when their mother went to him for child support. He also claims that her name was changed from "Alicia" to "Jodie" because it was a code "Jo D" for their mother's partner, Josephina Dominguez. Jodie Foster called the book "[a] cheap cry for attention and money filled with hazy recollections, fantasies and borrowed press releases. Buddy has done nothing but break our mother's heart his whole life."[56]

Foster has two sons: Charles "Charlie" Foster (b. July 20, 1998) and Christopher "Kit" Foster (b. September 29, 2001).[57] Foster gave birth to both children, but has not revealed the identity of the children's father(s) or the method(s) by which they were conceived.[58]

Foster is intensely private about certain aspects of her personal life, notably her sexual orientation, which has been the subject of speculation.[59] In December 2007, she made headlines when, during an acceptance speech at Hollywood Reporter's "Women in Entertainment" event, she paid tribute to film producer Cydney Bernard,[60] referring to her as "my beautiful Cydney, who sticks with me through the rotten and the bliss." Some media interpreted this as Foster coming out, as Bernard was believed to be her girlfriend since the two had met in 1992, during the filming of Sommersby.[60][61][62] Foster and Bernard never attended premieres or award ceremonies together, nor did they ever appear to be affectionate with each other, though Bernard has been seen in public with Foster's children on many occasions. On May 15, 2008, several news outlets reported that Foster and Bernard had "called it quits."[63][64]

Foster is an atheist [65] and does not follow any "traditional religion." She has discussed the god of the gaps.[66][67] Foster has "great respect for all religions" and spends "a lot of time studying divine texts, whether it's Eastern religion or Western religion."[37][68] She and her children celebrate both Christmas and Hannukah.[69] Some sources claim that Foster is a member of Mensa,[70][71] but Foster stated that she is not a member during an interview on Italian TV network RAI.[72]

Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.
Occupation Actress
Years active 2006–present

Jennifer Shrader Lawrence[1] (born August 15, 1990) is an American film and television actress. She had lead roles in TBS's The Bill Engvall Show and in the independent films The Burning Plain and Winter's Bone, for which she received nominations for the Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, Satellite Award, and the Screen Actors Guild Award. At age 20, she was the second youngest actress ever to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She is also known for playing Mystique in X-Men: First Class. In 2012, Lawrence achieved wider recognition starring as the heroine Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, an adaptation of Suzanne Collins' best-selling novel of the same name. Her performance in the film garnered her notable critical praise and marked her as the highest grossing action heroine of all time.[2][3] Lawrence's performances thus far have prompted Rolling Stone to define her as "the most talented young actress in America."[4]

Contents

Early life[link]

Lawrence was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, and has two older brothers. Her parents are Karen (née Koch), who runs a children's camp, and Gary Lawrence, who once owned a concrete construction firm, Lawrence & Associates.[5][6][7] She acted in local theater[8] and, by the age of 14, had decided to pursue an acting career, persuading her parents to take her to New York City to find a talent agent. Prior to finding success in Hollywood, Lawrence attended Kammerer Middle School. She graduated from high school two years early with a 3.9 average in order to begin a career in acting.[5][9] While growing up and in between acting, Lawrence served as an assistant nurse at the children's summer day camp that her mother ran.[10]

Career[link]

Early work[link]

Lawrence had never taken any drama classes/lessons for acting.[5] She started out her acting career in the TBS comedy The Bill Engvall Show, playing the eldest daughter of Lauren Pearson. Written and created by Bill Engvall and Michael Leeson, the show is set in a Denver suburb and follows the life of 'Bill Pearson' (played by Engvall), a family counselor whose own family could use a little dose of counseling. The series went on the air in September 2007 and was canceled in 2009 after three seasons. Lawrence received the Young Artist Award for Outstanding Young Performer in a TV Series for her role in the show.

Lawrence had guest-roles in the television series The Devil You Know, Cold Case, Medium, and Monk.[11]

In 2008, she appeared in a small role in the film Garden Party as Tiff. It was directed by Jason Freeland. The same year, Lawrence appeared on the big screen in Guillermo Arriaga's film directorial debut The Burning Plain, opposite Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger. Her performance in the film earned her the Marcello Mastroianni Award for best young emerging actor/actress at the Venice Film Festival in 2008.[12]

Still in 2008, Lawrence had the lead role in another film director's debut, Lori Petty's family drama The Poker House, opposite Selma Blair and Chloë Moretz, where she starred as Agnes, a young girl victim of abuse.[13] Lawrence was awarded the Los Angeles Film Festival for Outstanding Performance for her role in the film. She appeared in the music video for the song "The Mess I Made", from the 2009 album Losing Sleep by Parachute.

2010–present[link]

Lawrence's lead role in Debra Granik's Winter's Bone, which won best picture at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010, is generally cited as a breakout performance for her.[14] She portrays Ree Dolly, a seventeen-year-old in the Ozark Mountains who cares for her mentally ill mother and her younger brother and sister. Ree then discovers that her father put their house and land up as a bond for a court appearance before he disappeared, and the family now faces eviction.[15] The performance was highly acclaimed by film critics. David Denby, writing in The New Yorker, said "the movie would be unimaginable with anyone less charismatic playing Ree."[16] Peter Travers from the Rolling Stone also spoke highly of her and noted that "her performance is more than acting, it's a gathering storm. Lawrence's eyes are a roadmap to what's tearing Ree apart".[17] Receiving accolades for her performance, Lawrence was awarded the National Board of Review Award for Best Breakthrough Performance. She received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress on January 25, 2011, becoming the second-youngest actress to date to be nominated for the category,[18] and also accrued nominations from the Golden Globe Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, and the Satellite Awards among others.

Lawrence had a role in The Beaver, a dark comedy starring Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson that was filmed in 2009, but which spent an extended period of time stalled due to controversies surrounding Gibson. It was released on May 6, 2011. Lawrence co-starred in the independent film Like Crazy, which premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and received a wider release by Paramount Pictures.[19]

On June 18, 2011, it was announced that Lawrence was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

In June 2011, she starred as shape-shifting villain Mystique alongside James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender in X-Men: First Class,[20] a prequel to the rest of the X-Men film series and will be reprising this role again in the sequel. Lawrence's Mystique is a younger version of the character played by Rebecca Romijn in earlier X-Men films.

She is also set to star alongside Elisabeth Shue in Mark Tonderai's thriller House at the End of the Street,[21] which completed filming in 2010 and is in post-production.[22]

Lawrence was cast in David O. Russell's The Silver Linings Playbook, opposite Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro. She was originally cast to play "O" in the film Savages directed by Oliver Stone, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.

In 2012, Lawrence replaced Angelina Jolie in Susanne Bier's period thriller, The Falling, based on the novel Serena by Ron Rash.[23][24] She will be playing the role of Serena who learns that she can never bear her husband children and is set out to murder the woman who bore her husband an illegitimate son before their marriage.

[edit] The Hunger Games

In March 2011, Lawrence was offered the part of Katniss Everdeen in the film The Hunger Games, based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins. Despite being a fan of the books, Lawrence took three days to accept the role because she was initially intimidated by the size of the movie and what it may mean for her fame.[25] She underwent extensive training to get in shape for the role, including stunt training, archery, rock and tree climbing, combat, running, parkour, pilates, and yoga.[26][27] The film was released on March 23, 2012, and set the record for the third-largest opening weekend of all time, making a record-breaking $152.5 million in three days for a non-sequel film.[28]

The fact that The Hunger Games emerged as a big box office hit with a female lead represents a dramatic shift for the action film genre because historically, among the "top 200 worldwide box-office hits ever ($350 million and up), not one has been built around a female action star" and for the first time ever, Lawrence contradicts that.[29] She is currently the highest grossing action heroine.

Though the film generally received positive reviews, Lawrence's strong portrayal of Katniss Everdeen was the most highly praised with Todd McCarthy from The Hollywood Reporter saying Lawrence embodies Katniss, "just as one might imagine her from the novel" and "anchors" the whole film "with impressive gravity and presence", ultimately calling her "the ideal screen actress".[30] Kenneth Turan from the Los Angeles Times stated that Lawrence is the "best possible performer as Katniss and is the key factor in making 'Hunger Games' an involving popular entertainment with strong narrative drive that holds our attention".[31] Chicago Sun-Times film critic Roger Ebert also agreed that "Lawrence is strong and convincing in the central role".[32]

Lawrence will start filming the film adaptation of the second novel in the The Hunger Games trilogy, Catching Fire, this summer, which is scheduled to be released on November 23, 2013.[33]

Personal life[link]

Lawrence lived in New York City for the first few years of her career, but now resides in Santa Monica, California.[5] She likes to paint, knit sweaters and scarves, surf, and play the guitar.[34][35] She has been dating English actor Nicholas Hoult since 2011.[36]

This ya thing I wanna say
Wouldn't throw my love away
I'm coming with the tide
So I never gonna ride off on a side
This is my chariot
My lonely days are gone
This is my chariot
I never gonna blow it once again
Or twice, no nice, cause your eyes is my price
I'm coming with the autumn
I'm coming with the autumn wind
I'm coming with the autumn
I'm coming with the autumn wind
Pick down the apple from the tree
It's charity for you and me
The autumn wind blow chilly and cold
And you are the one that I wanna hold
Please take your stand and come with me
Cast your spell and set us free
From ball and chain
And then we know which way to go
I'm coming with the autumn
I'm coming with the autumn wind
I'm coming with the autumn

You are my angel and you light up
You are the queen in all the race
You are my angel and you light up
You are the queen in all the race
Me no bad bad one all of the time
Me no sad sad one when I drink up the wine
I gonna dress me up, go looking for fun
I gonna change my name to Don Juan
Me no shilly shally, I know what I want
Me no shilly shally, I know what I need
Me no shilly shally, I know what to say
Me no shilly shally, I'm gonna take you away
You are my angel and you light up
You are the queen in all the race
You are my angel and you light up
You are the queen in all the race
I gonna ring your bell and ask for a date
I gonna run like hell not to be late
I gonna swing your legs up in the sky
I gonna strip off your clothes and give you a try
Now I'm ringing your bell and you want me to tell
Come out for a ride, I'm your midnight guide
We gonna find some place under the sun
And run a bed race till the morning come
You are my angel and you light up
You are the queen in all the race
You are my angel and you light up
You are the queen in all the race
Angel sugar in a friday night, In a saturday night
In all long nights, you are my sexy daughter

Dom vilda vindarna
Det kommer vilda vindar
Dom kommer ifrn sterland
Det kommer vilda vindar
Dom kommer ifrn vsterland
Nr dom vilda vindarna mter varann
Orkanen r hr frintelsen ett faktum
Ver dig, ver mig, ver alla
Ver hela universum
Ver hela universum
Nr armarna p Gedion lyfter
D slutar klockan andas

Ugly girls beckon to me
Oh no, I don't care
Like a rose waiting for a bumblebee
Me no wanna go in there
In my life, I've everything
In my life, where there once was a ring
In my life, there was glitter and gold
In my life, I've never foretold that the glitter and gold
Were so heartless and cold, In my life
In my life, where there once was a song
In my life, now that is gone
In my life, nothing is clear
In my life, will you help me from fear
Me no wanna go there, I've got no point on my spear
Ugly girls beckon to me
Oh no, I don't care
Like a rose waiting for a bumblebee
Me no wanna go in there
In my life, all my colour is grey
In my life, night will never be day
In my life, there's no nightingale
Cause my life's like a jail
No one to go my tail, ugly girls on my trail
Ugly girls beckon to me
Oh no, I don't care
Like a rose waiting for a bumble bee

In every human being there's a beating heart
One of them beat for you
But you'll never find the answer If you
But you'll never find the answer If you
Coming In the same way like I do
Running around In circles, In a human market place
I can not move easily to the monotonous base
Maybe It's to late, I'm searching for a date
Is there anyone In there, who can...
Turn me on, turn me on
Turn me on, turn me on
Turn me on, turn me on
Turn me on, turn me on
It's just a parking break in the quest of love
On a never ending highway
I can't turn around, cause I move too fast
But no one can reach their past
There's a wolf outside my window and she's howling at the moon
And the crickets beat their riddim so the answer will come soon
Is there anyone in here, who can...
Turn me on, turn me on
Turn me on, turn me on
Turn me on, turn me on

Try another one, I've heard it before
Try another one, I want to be sure
You talk yo much, you never hush
You'll never walk on the truth line
You run around, and you go up and down
You've got nothing in your mind
You and your chatty mouth, go around
And spreading out, that you're high in the sky
All I want to do, all I want to say
Is that you are a damned blasted lier
Try another one, I've heard it before
Try another one, I want to be sure
You talk yo much, you never hush
You'll never walk on the truth line
You run around, and you go up and down
You've got nothing in your mind
So try another one, me no understand
Why you're cheating your own friends
Do you believe it or not, do you recieve it or not
Or have you lost your last bit of sense
Try another one, I've heard it before

Jag r jmfrd med satan
Nr jag gr fram p gatan
Nr dom tittar p mig
Fr ngot jag gjort
Som ingen hade trott
Jag r en ligist
Det enda som skiljer
R kostymen
Och dina fina skor
Dom r lika svarta
Som huset dr du bor
Investera mera, totalkamouflera
Permittera flera
S fr du mera
Totalhaverera
Jag tminstone frskte
Med jobbet jag skte
Komma ur min tristess
Det gick nog inte bra
Fr jag hrde aldrig av
Den dr mannen nt mer
Jag fr frska igen
Att lura sociteten p en peng
Dom har lyckats igen
Investera mera, totalkamouflera
Permittera flera
S fr du mera

7 people started walking (and talking)
With 7 different ways to run
1 of them started to cheating
So he'll will be always be a prodigal son
(now there is) 6 people who climbed up a ladder
High up with unsteady gait
It's dangerous in this ya stormy weather, yeah
When the river is in spait mouthpeace you come to late
They dig on in a sandpit, talking in a pulpet
(now there is) 5 wheels under the wagon,
They can't decide who is the first mate
(much to much) to much to carry on
You can't be 5 in a quartet
4 men tussel and hustle in a castle
But they can't see everything from the watchtower
There's only 1 way and it goes to Brussels, yeah
They chat away hours of European powers
They dig on in a sandpit, talking in a pulpet
(now there is) 3 wise men on a wandering
And all good things are 3 in numbers
You can't rule a country with good looking
If you want to reach the top you have to scrumble
2 men sailing on the ocean
With a wind from the east and a wind from the west
So their boat sail in slowmotion
On that score you can set your mind at rest (still we are go saying)

One of these days you'll be led astray
So imortalize your old memories
And gold memories and spice them with rosemary
Your grey existence, you don't want to jump no fence
Patroling around with a smile
That's la-di-dab policeofficer, you ain't got no sense
Everyone look alike when we're in the raw
So it shall be in the name of the law
Hear me when I say, hear me when I call, are you really sure,
That you miss what you're looking for
Life is just a moment between two eternities
And you diddle around, you're never homeward bound
Grabbing cars and look out for control with a special patrol
Oh, you trembling on solid ground
Everyone look alike when we're in the raw
So it shall be in the name of the law

Har vi tid, har vi tid att tnka p
Har vi mod, har vi mod att se

Gr svinkall betong
Och spara det som vi har kvar
Av naturens sng
Har vi tid att tnka p
Har vi mod att se
Har vi tid att tnka p
Har vi mod att se
Vi kan inte stoppa tiden
Den har sin gng
Vi kan inte stoppa tiden
Det r frsent att brja om

Knocked down smiling message through the telephone
Knocked down smiling I want to go home
Knocked down smiling, punched right in my ear
Just a few words, my mind disappear
This odd feeling I can't control
I'm up in the ceiling and I'm down on the floor
Small spots of conscience still surrounds my brain
This wheel goes round and round and still sustains
I've got a strange console just in fron of my knee
Hundreds of filters and they all agree with me, you see
Small flashing lights just teasing me
A friend beside smiles now you got the key
Knocked down smiling message through the telephone
Knocked down smiling I want to go home
Knocked down smiling, punched right in the eye
My body is here but my head is dead
A tap on my shoulder brings my mind back again
Down from the clouds into my brain
A voice from beside says I've got three

If I ain't got you, I've got nothing at all
Why can't you understand
Just give me a chanse, just give me a call
Just reach me your hand
I've got plans for you, I've got plans for me
Gonna take you away
I'll make your dreams come true, just wait and see
Gonna make you stay
I wanna be the one
With you under my shelter
I wanna be the one
I've been watching you for a long long time
Your body makes me blind
I wrote a song for you, hope It's not in vain
You must always stay the same
I wanna be the one
With you under my shelter

Gotto get you one day, anyhow, anyway
Running out of time
I watch you dance to the riddim (to the riddim)
Will you ever see, gotto get you
Deep brown eyes keep staring at me (staring tenderly)
I'm just one of a crowd, you've gotto get me girl
The way she looks is making me crazy
I need to touch her now, It's a matter of time
Crossing the floor, yes I'm the one
Soon I feel her close, a body next to mine
Chorus
Hand in hand, leaving the dancehall
I can imagine a scene, muscles of love
Spirits willing, my flesh is weak
Verbal promise made, I've gotto get you
Chorus
All the times I've been waiting In vain
A struggle ends up in a heavy rain, you see
I will never let you down, (out of time) I will never let you down
A mislead mind in the name of randomness
Is it you or a godess, you see I will never let you go

Jag r en orolig sjl
I ett alltfr invecklat system
Som r s skickligt skapat
Att ingen vet ngra svar
Min hjrna vill bry sig
Men orkar inte tnka klart
Jag vill s vldigt mycket
Men ingenting blir av
R det bara en drm att kunna m bra
Fr hr rder bara djungelns lag
R det bara en drm att kunna m bra
Fr hr rder djungelns lag
Att ta eller tas
Och som realist
R man given pessimist
Fr s fort man ppnar kften
R man en skerhetsrisk
D kommer lakejer och undrar
Om man r riktigt frisk
R man inte tyst
Ser dom till att man alltid kommer sist
R det bara en drm att kunna m bra
Fr hr rder bara djungelns lag
R det bara en drm att kunna m bra
Fr hr rder djungelns lag

It's our lifes we're living
Earth a come burning
So we are go singing
Give me, give me loving
Everytime I hear them speaking
There's no way to brighter day
Everytime I hear them talking
Our speech seems to melt away
In this time and in this crisis
Is this the price we've got to pay ?
Please, stop your regulary violence
Before the judgment day
It's our lifes we're living
Earth a come burning
So we are go singing
Give me, give me loving
Open your heart and show me your love
And take me to a safer place
Where no evil one can harm us
Or destroy the human race
I don't wanna end up in a restless dream of life

You never win the race if you walk in someones footprints
Or ever stand the pace if you don't start where it begins
The muckraker dancing tonight, you can hardly see it but she's there
Smokey room, misty light, always play underhand
No she'll never understand
Chorus
Variety is a spice of life - tell me how you mean...you know
Acting on a silverscreen, so tell me Mrs Slowcoach and smart Alec
How come when you wanna walk you walk out of step
Chorus
The zenith of your career are long gone now
You can hardly see it but it's true
In danger zone you walk alone
Just like a bloodsucker, a backbiting bacherlor

There's a cloak & dagger in di backyard and she watch me oh oh
She watch me go out and coming in
The road is straight, I don't step aside, I follow di rules
And hold on to the line
I watch my step, I watch my moves, I get a hold on myself
And enter di floor
I feel di heat, no I'm not sure, so I go take a look
Behind di door (there she was again)
Chorus
There was a lass in Charles harbour, that I couldn't forget
I knew her number, Russian roulette
I watch my step, yes I watch my moves
Me say there was a girl in Charle harbour, I knew her name,
I knew her number, oh that's a dangerous game
So I take a look behind di door (cause I better be sure)
Chorus
A so me say, A so me say, said this ya girl she wants my loving
Night and day, she said give me that man, give me that one woman man
She said give me that lucky womans man
My love is what she wanting, a so me tell you say I'ts fire down below
And she won't leave because she knows that she will come when me bow
Cho, lord my god I say she peep through my door as I would tell you
I rock her like no other man or anyone from any land did before
Love encore....

Hey girl, love ain't got no rules
Hey girl, I may act like a fool
But still I'm not blind you'll see, carry me
Still I'm not blind you see, carry me
I, I know you know what I mean
You, you don't know what to do
Your burden is so heavy, carry me
Your burden is so heavy, carry me
Bebe, let me run into your life
And please forgive me for those lies
When the new year arise
In the horizon, In the horizon
You, you're like a lily In the walley
I, I'm a never ending alley
You and your dark curly hair, carry me
You and your dark curly hair, carry me
Run, don't wanna wait till kingdom come
Hurry up, you're in the middle of my story
You and your dark curly hair, carry me
You and your dark curly hair, carry me
Bebe, let me run into your life
And please forgive me for those lies
When the new year arise

Blacka rasta wear no dreadlocks
Walking amid the sawmill road blocks
But they plant a seed of carribbean weed
In the slits of the babylon timeclocks
No sawdust on sawmill road
Just a bus shipping off a heavy load
Of working people bound for the factory
That gobbles their mind and energy
My papa is chained to the machine
Working the night shift till the break of day
My sistren is a slave in the canteen
She can hardly sustain herself on her pay
Blacka rasta i sing of thee
I and i will go fight for our right to be
Unite unite, rebel rebel
Over younder rise the fumes of hell
In a tenement yard on sawmill road
Freedom is contrary to the penalty code
Officers are prying anywhere you go
We've got their number but we won't let it show
Blacka rasta hear my song
Some day and it won't be long
We'll reap what we sowed and right the wrong
We go in cahoots and the weak will be strong
Blacka rasta vibration
Across the heaps of humiliation
Keep your flame of rebellion burning

Living in a big town now, but I think I'll move to the country
Living in a big town now, and it's breaking me down
I get up in the morning after a sleepless night
Neighbours were drinking and putting up a fight
Cars outside my window driving all night long
Some youths are in the backyard and they messing around (with me)
Tired and frozen I crawl up on the floor
Take a cup of coffee, head for the door
There's a man in the stairway drunk and asleep
He's that kind of man that won't look before he leeps
Chorus
I walk out through the staircase, my car had flat tyre
I don't like this ratrace protect by barbed wire
I said to myself: I've got to be stronger
Put yourself in my place I can't take it no longer

Can you believe this, ain't got no money
Can you recieve this, shure is no funny
I slave every day for the money, what more can I do
The job that I have is no funny, but what would you do
I've got bills over my ears, that I've got to pay
There's gonna be a lot of tears, each and every day
Can you believe this, ain't got no money
Can you recieve this, shure is no funny
I was warned by my father, before I moved out
He says you should bother, tat is no doubt
Now I know what it's trying to say, life is no game
I've got so many depts to pay, I trouble my name
Can you believe this, ain't got no money
Can you recieve this, shure is no funny
I slave every day for the money, what more can I do
The job that I have is no funny, but what would you do
Now I know what it's trying to say, life is no game
I've got so many depts to pay, I trouble my name
Can you believe this
Can you believe this, can you believe this

Your eyes were so deep when we danced in a trance
Someone In my head beat a timbal
Lips of flattery and eyes of lust
Can't you see, can't you see
You lead me astray but I say
Carnal love is not a must
Can't you see that I beg you
Just for a hug and somme trust
I am a beggarman, you are my heaven
And I am the sun
Can't you hear that the trumpets are calling on you
I can't take you for to use when we dance to the blues
But your eyes cleave my waves
When you dance me too close
Can't you hear that the trumpets are calling
Triumphant trumpets blowin' like a hurricane
Holy ghost, get lost and break every chain
I am the beggarman, you are my heaven
And I am the sun
Can't you hear that the trumpets are calling on you
I can't take you for to use when we dance to the blues
But your eyes cleave my waves
When you dance me too close
You and I shake alone on the ballroom floor
Here I am baby, baby will you give me some more
Your dark curly hair sweepes around In the air
Over here, over there, everywhere in the air
You and I shake alone on the ballroom floor

Quando escuto a sua voz
Estremeço, me dá um nó
Sinto o tempo me tocar
Como um beijo que ficou no ar
Foi bom...
Como posso te esquecer
Seu perfume está em mim
Me invadindo sem querer
Tudo passa, eu só sei dizer
Seu nome... Seu nome...
Tudo aquilo que senti
Não dá mais pra se apagar
Fecho os olhos e não te esqueço
Deito e amanheço,
Como é bom lembrar!
Tudo aquilo que senti,
Não dá mais pra se apagar,
Fecho os olhos e não te esqueço
Deito e amanheço,
Como é bom lembrar...
Seu nome, seu nome,
Seu nome, seu nome...

Tire seus olhos dos meus
Eu não quero me apaixonar

E eu me sinto só...
Por causa de você
E eu te quero tanto
Tanto que nem sei dizer
Que a felicidade pra mim
É nunca perder você
Peço pra uma estrela
Pra te convencer enfim
Que eu não sou ninguém sem você
E não há você sem mim

Veio feito nuvem, numa ventania
Cheia de paixão, tarde de verão, chovia
Entrou pelos meus olhos sutil e tão fugaz
Fera fugitiva numa tentativa de paz
Relaxou meus nervos, sentimento alado
Senti minar na pele o transpirar de leve, pecado
Revirei teus poros relâmpago e viril
Rajada de vento em beijos turbulentos, seduziu
Navegar teus sonhos, regar teus sentimentos
Orvalho de amor, flor de pensamento
Nuvem passageira, inverno de paixão
Amor de primavera, em chuvas de verão
Relaxou meus nervos, sentimento alado
Senti minar na pele o transpirar de leve, pecado
Revirei teus poros relâmpago e viril
Rajada de vento em beijos turbulentos, seduziu
Navegar teus sonhos, regar teus sentimentos
Orvalho de amor, flor de pensamento
Nuvem passageira, inverno de paixão
Amor de primavera em chuvas de verão
Navegar teus sonhos, regar teus sentimentos
Orvalho de amor, flor de pensamento
Nuvem passageira, inverno de paixão
Amor de primavera em chuvas de verão

Não consigo aceitar...
Por que não você e eu?
Eu não quero mais ficar,
Procurando em seu olhar,
O motivo desse adeus.
Eu deixei meu coração,
Por você se apaixonar,
No seu beijo me prendi,
No seu corpo aprendi,
Como é bom se entregar.
Só dessa vez,
Olha pra mim!
Só dessa vez,
Me diz que sim!
Acreditei no amor,
Quando você me falou,
Que foi tão bom me encontrar.
E sem nenhuma razão,
Fecha o seu coração,
E diz que agora não dá, não dá.
Só dessa vez,
Olha pra mim!
Só dessa vez,
Me diz que sim!

I love you
Adoro dizer, I love you
Cansei de esconder
Essa paixão
Escuta o meu coração dizendo...
I love you
Não é só prazer
I love you
É amor pra valer
Pra que negar
Que eu vivo só pra te amar?
Eu amo voê
São palavras do meu coração
Que aprendi olhando em seu olhar
O que eu sinto tem explicação
Eu nasci só pra te amar
Ah, como eu amo você
e não dá pra negar, nem fugir
Dessa louca paixão
Ah, como eu amo você
E não vou me enganar, nem mentir
Tá escrito em meu coração

Ah, mas se um dia eu chegar
Muito estranho
Deixa essa água no corpo
Lembrar nosso banho
Ah, mas se um dia eu chegar
Muito louco
Deixa essa noite saber
Que um dia foi pouco
Cuida bem de mim
Então misture tudo
Dentro de nós
Por que ninguém vai dormir
Nossos sonhos
Ah, minha cara, pra que
Tantos planos
Se eu quero te amar e te amar
E te amar muitos anos?
Ah, tantas vezes eu quis
Ficar solto
Como se fosse uma lua
A brincar no teu rosto.
Cuida bem de mim
Então misture tudo
Dentro de nós
Por que ninguém vai dormir
Nossos sonhos
Ah, tantas vezes eu quis
Ficar solto
Como se fosse uma lua
A brincar no teu rosto
Cuida bem de mim...

Uma linda estrela eu vi brilhar
Lembrei de você
Do brilho do seu olhar
A saudade veio machucar
E olhando pro céu
Pedi para você voltar
É um sentimento
E não tem jeito
Já tentei me enganar
A saudade veio machucar
E olhando pro céu
Pedi para você voltar
Só queria te dizer:
"Eu te amo"
Só queria te dizer:
"Eu te amo"
Dói demais te amar assim...

Você chegou de repente
Me fez mudar num segundo
Quando um amor vem assim sem avisar
Faz nascer um sentimento
Que queima dentro do peito
Foi tão depressa, não deu pra segurar
Quero te dar
O céu e o mar
E tudo que você sonhar
Por que te amo demais
E só você que me faz
Entender que o amor é tudo
Tudo que o seu coração
Esperar da paixão
Vou te dar meu amor nessa canção.

Tá difícil esquecer
Tirar você de mim
Nos meus olhos dá pra ver
Seu adeus doendo assim
Não pensei que esse amor
Me pudesse machucar
E uma lágrima de dor
Hoje cai do meu olhar
Baby
Te vejo tão longe
De mim tão distante
Além do horizonte
Baby
Eu grito o seu nome
Saudade responde
Ela não está aqui
Quando o sol vem me tocar
Parecendo um beijo seu
Deixo o sonho me levar
Pra acordar nos braços seus

Pra que se esconder
Se enganar assim?
A mesma dor que há em você
Ainda dói em mim
Ninguém destrói um sentimento
Pra que fingir que terminou
E inventar um novo amor?
Antes que seja tarde demais
Preciso confessar…
Nunca te esqueci!
Eu não sei como apagar
O que você foi pra mim
E toda vez que eu tentei mudar
A saudade não deixou
E todo tempo que passou
Só me fez te amar ainda mais
Dentro do quarto a escuridão
Me faz ouvir essa canção
Repetir seu nome
Por te amar demais
Te dou meu coração

Diga por que chora
Se eu te quero tanto
Se a minha vida
Sempre foi te amar
Diz qual o motivo
Qual é o seu medo
Se em meus pensamentos
Quero mais que um beijo
Tenho tantos sonhos
Deixa eu te contar
Tenho tantos planos
Se você ficar
Sei que o futuro mora tão distante
Mas não tenho medo
Estou apaixonado
Eu te amo
E não quero que pareça diferente
E não pense que no mundo
Outro amor vai ser tão grande
Eu te amo e acredito que chegou a minha vez...
Meu amor, eu te peço
Não espere nascer um novo dia
Eu te amo
E quero estar contigo
Nem que acabe o mundo
Esse é meu destino porque
Esse amor
Não sabe outro caminho
Mesmo em dias tristes
Eu só quero o seu carinho
Eu te amo
E não importa o tempo
Nada vai mudar e
Seguiremos sempre juntos
Não me ame
Apenas um momento
Nem só um instante,
Quero que me ame
Pela vida inteira
Eu te amo
E não quero que pareça diferente
E não pense que no mundo
Outro amor vai ser tão grande
Eu te amo e acredito que chegou a minha vez
Meu amor, eu confesso

e confesso: na verdade me faltou coragem pra dizer:
Cada dez palavras que eu falo, onze é você
cada rosto que eu olho, em todos vejo você
ah! ah! ah!
Tentei mil vezes te esquecer, mas no fim
Mil vezes desejei você só para mim
(3X)
Mil vezes desejei você só pra mim

Seu corpo é o fruto proibido
É a chave de todo pecado
E da libido, e prum garoto introvertido
Como eu é a pura perdição
É um lago negro o seu olhar
É água turva de beber, se envenenar
Nas tuas curvas derrapar, sair da estrada,
E morrer no mar... no mar
E pra você eu deixo apenas meu olhar 43

Me liga pra dizer que vai voltar pra mim
Eu quero com você viver essa paixão
Te dar o meu amor, abrir meu coração
Pra que tentar me iludir?
Não sei viver sem você
Pra que inventar um novo amor
Só pra tentar te esquecer?

Eu jurei dessa vez
Que não vou te procurar
Quero pedir pra você
Também não me ligar
Não dá mais, não dá mais
Vou dar a tal liberdade
Que você tanto quis
Quem sabe outra pessoa
Vai te fazer feliz!
Não dá mais, não dá mais
Se um dia a saudade trouxer solidão
Um vazio no seu coração
Vai te fazer entender
Que não se deve dizer
“Nunca mais, nunca mais”
Quantas noites perdidas
Quanto amor eu te dei
Até nas suas mentiras
Eu acreditei
Não dá mais, não dá mais
Não adianta insistir
Eu não vou atender
Não há mais o que falar
Agora é pra valer
Não dá mais, não dá mais

Quero tanto dizer
Que eu só penso em você
Mas a minha timidez não deixa
Você diz no olhar
Que tem medo de amar
E confunde mais a minha cabeça
Eu queria tanto me entregar
Te mostrar todo o meu sentimento
Já tentei, mas te esquecer não dá
Você vive em meu pensamento Ah! Ah!
Sha la la la la Como eu quero te amar
Te amar, te amar Pára de brincar
Com o meu coração Oh!
Não Oh!
Não Sei que um dia você vai notar
Que ninguém já te amou desse jeito
O meu sonho é poder te dar
Todo amor que eu guardo em meu peito
Ah! Ah! Sha la la la la
Como eu quero te amar
Te amar, te amar
Pára de brincar Com o meu coração
Oh! Não Oh! Não

Perdoa, se estou te ligando, amor,
nesse momento
mas me fazia falta, escutar de novo,
só por um instante, sua respiração
Desculpe, sei que estou quebrando
nosso juramento
Sei que existe outro em seu pensamento
mas meu coração pediu pra te dizer
Que estou morrendo, morrendo por dentro,
é tanta saudade morando em meu peito
Vida, devolva minhas fantasias,
meus sonhos de viver a vida
devolva-me o ar
Sem seu carinho meu mundo fica tão vazio,
os dias quentes são tão frios
e as noites me trazem
a dor desse amor
Queria te dizer que hoje estou de bem com a vida,
e que não senti nada com sua partida,
mas com um só dedo não se tapa o sol
Estou morrendo
morrendo por dentro
é tanta saudade morando em meu peito
Vida, devolva minhas fantasias,
meus sonhos de viver a vida
devolva-me o ar
Sem seu carinho meu mundo fica tão vazio,
os dias quentes são tão frios
e as noites me trazem
a dor desse amor

Hän on jäänyt paikoilleen, eksynyt elämään
Vangiksi mielen hämärään
Polttaa liekit eilisen, löytääkö vastauksen
Harhainen
Vain hetken onnellinen
Kadottaen selkeät jäljet rakkauden
Kuin tuuleen huudettu on
On voimaton
Rakkaudessa rakkaudeton
Piinaava tunne, jota ei voi selittää
Jota kukaan ei voi ymmärtää
Mieluummin ajattelematon kuin täysin toivoton
Tahdoton
Vain hetken onnellinen
Kadottaen selkeät jäljet rakkauden
Kuin tuuleen huudettu on
On voimaton
Rakkaudessa rakkaudeton
Putoaa aina uudestaan
Eikä kukaan pysty auttamaan

Mahtia ilman moraalia
Puhdasta valtaa ihmisistä piittaamatta
Ole nöyrä ja vaiti, hillitse mielesi
Alistu ja tuki suusi
Tai joku kävelee ylitsesi
Ne epätoivoisesti saada uskomaan
Keinoja kaihtamatta koettaa
Ettemme elämäämme voikaan omistaa
Se tulee hyväksensä uhrata
Portit sulkekaa, tiet katkaiskaa
Tai pahan ilman linnut meidät vie mukanaan
Moraaliaan vartioivat valheillaan korkeammat voimat
Järkeä ilman näkemystä
Siihen ne tähtää, kuria ja järjestystä
Tieto lisää tuskaa päivä päivältä enemmän
Elät etuasi varten
Ja saat aina vain vähemmän
Ne epätoivoisesti saada uskomaan
Keinoja kaihtamatta koettaa
Ettemme elämäämme voikaan omistaa
Se tulee hyväksensä uhrata
Portit sulkekaa, tiet katkaiskaa

Luulet että voit tehdä mitä vaan
Etkä mistään joudu vastaamaan
Ison veljen suojista haet turvaa
Ei kukaan sinua tunnista
Olet kettu joukossa kanojen
Susi vaatteissa lampaiden
Kuljet tietäsi virheitä etsien
Häpeämättä halveksien
Kyykäärmeenpää
Hyvä meininki kusipää
Luikertelet toisten elämään
Kyykäärmeenpää, kyykäärmeenpää
Teet matkaa valheita sylkien
Vastaantulijat pettäen
Sinä makaat vaimot ja tyttäret
Enää taaksesi katso et
Kyykäärmeenpää

Enää hetki ennen kuin helvetti räjähtää
Se ei ehdi edes jäätymään
Tyyntä on aina myrskyn edellä
Ja kaikki näyttää täydelliseltä
Maailma on tilassa
Jossa epäluulon muuri on aina vastassa
Mitä olemme menneet tekemään?
Me katalat ihmiset
Ahdinkoamme lisäämään
Me katalat ihmiset
Jälkiämme peittämään
Me katalat ihmiset
Syyttömiä syyllistämään
Me katalat ihmiset
Jos löydät kaapistasi luurankoja
Jotka ei kestä päivänvaloa
Tuo ne rohkeasti esille
Me muut vaadimme pääsi vadille
Maailma on tilassa
Jossa epäluulon muuri on aina vastassa
Mitä olemme menneet tekemään?
Me katalat ihmiset
Ahdinkoamme lisäämään

Antaisin vuoksesi kai mitä vaan
Miten paljon vaan
Olla tilanne päällä taas
Miksei koskaan
Sitä voi ennalta aavistaa
Oireet on selvät, ne tiedetään
Voi poikaparkaa
Potilas ottaa kyllä lääkkeensä
Saisit juottaa
Suloista kalkkia katkeraa
Hoitajaa tarvitaan
Sinä voit kuumeen parantaa
Hoitajaa tarvitaan
Sinä osaat rohdon sekoittaa
Kuljet missä ja milloinka vaan
Se ei haittaa
Kunhan vain otat minut mukaan
Sun maailmaan
Antaisit toivoa odottaa
Hoitajaa tarvitaan
Sinä voit kuumeen parantaa
Hoitajaa tarvitaan
Sinä osaat rohdon sekoittaa
[Solo]
Hoitajaa tarvitaan
Hoitajaa tarvitaan

Hoitajaa tarvitaan

Muuta ei tarvita kuin yksi katse
Se vihloo, se lyö, se lannistaa
Muuta ei tarvita kuin silmäsi
Haavoittamaan tätä haarniskaa
On näytös ohi ja vieraat lähteneet
JäI vain sydämet kylmenneet
Anteeksi että elän
Anteeksi että elän
Anteeksi että elän
Odotitko kenties enemmän?
Tonni tiiliä minut maahan painaa
Sen alla sielu routainen
Otit mun sydämen ja hautasit sen
Kuljit sen yli tanssien
Sä teit sen minkä taidat parhaiten
Ja lähdit niin leikiten
Anteeksi että elän
Anteeksi että elän
Anteeksi että elän
Odotitko kenties enemmän?
Ajoit mut ansaan
Niin kuin pirun mertaan
Anteeksi että elän
En tee sitä toista kertaa
[Solo]
Anteeksi että elän
Anteeksi että elän
Anteeksi että elän
Anteeksi että elän

Anteeksi että elän

Kauan sitten olin nuori
Ja naiivisti rakkauteen
Kun putoaa ulkokuoriin
Miettii minne kaikki katoaa
Ei pelkoon ole aikaa eikä tuskin aihettakaan
Ajatus päätä vaivaa
Ettei tunteitansa paljasta
Aina kun sä lähdet pois
Toivon että jäädä vois
Jotain jolla menneet hetket elän uudelleen
Aina kun sä lähdet pois
Toivon että jäädä vois
Jotain josta jälleen revin voimaa huomiseen
Kuinka paljon maailmaamme
Onnistuisimmekaan parantamaan
Rakastaa ja uskallamme
Löydä rikki muurin sanattoman
Vain sinulla on avain siihen kuinka lukot aukeaa
Ne avataan tai putoamme tyhjyyteen arjen varjojen
Aina kun sä lähdet pois
Toivon että jäädä vois
Jotain jolla menneet hetket elän uudelleen
Aina kun sä lähdet pois
Toivon että jäädä vois
Jotain josta jälleen revin voimaa huomiseen

Aamuyöllä heräilen
Vapisen ja tärisen
Peilistäni näen sen
Kiilusilmä perkeleen
Päätäni mä ravistin
Siinä se on vieläkin
Silmin punaisin mua tuijotti
Peitti että janotti
Viinapiru, viinapiru
Veri virtaa, olen voimieni tunnossa
Hei nainen tänne, näytä että mies on kunnossa
Vaikken jaloillani pysty enää seisomaan
Aamulla tuskin mitään enää muistankaan
[Solo]
Jälleen kerran paras mahdollinen meininki
Mitä tapahtui ja mihin kaikki katosi?
Viinapiru
Kuka kaataa, antaa neuvoja?
Viinapiru
Sarvia ja sorkkia
Viinapiru
Saa vehnät saataniksi muuttumaan
Viinapiru
Se on kiinni aamusta iltaan

Emme irti päästäneet
Emme armoa antaneet
Mitä aikaan saimmekaan
Oli turhaakin turhempaa
Julmempaa
Tahdoimme viedä kaiken
Ja vieläkin enemmän
Annoimme pelkän katseen
Kylmääkin kylmemmän
Saadaanko kääntymään
Maailma väärinpäin
Ja katsotaan palaako se paikoilleen
Saammeko takaisin tilanteen
Jossa taas kaikki on oikein
Anteeksi antaa on vaikeaa
Kun ylpeys kulkee etumaisena
Ei mitään mihin tarttua
Ei ainoatakaan oljenkortta
[Solo]
Käännetään maailma väärinpäin
Ja katsotaan palaako se paikoilleen
Saammeko takaisin tilanteen
Jossa taas kaikki on oikein

Saammeko takaisin tilanteen

Oletko pelkkä kuori vailla elämää?
Ilman tekohengitystä sydämesi ei löisikään
Kun iskun saa päin kasvojaan
Niin poloista taas kiusataan
Miten siihen vastataan?
Sisään astukaa suureen unelmaan
Turhuuden valtakuntaan
Toiset turvaa jumaliin
Toiset pirun alttariin
Uuden ajan mestarit
Heitätkö toivosi tyhjiin sanoihin?
Lisää karkea eka elämäsi rattaisiin
Ei ainoataan pidä käydä jakamaan
Se otetaan kyllä aikanaan
Miten siihen vastataan?
Sisään astukaa suureen unelmaan
Turhuuden valtakuntaan
Toiset turvaa jumaliin
