Mark Anthony Patrick Owen (born 27 January 1972), is an English singer-songwriter. He is a member of pop-group Take That. As a solo artist, Owen had sold over 500,000 records worldwide and 45 million with Take That.
Owen was born in Oldham, Lancashire, England. He lived in a small council house with his mother Mary, his father Keith, brother Daniel and sister Tracey in Oldham, Lancashire. His father was a decorator, later getting a job at a police station. His mother was a supervisor in a bakery in Oldham. Owen was educated at the Holy Rosary Primary and St Augustine’s Catholic School in Oldham. Owen’s first ambition was to be a professional footballer; he starred in school plays but showed no interest in music at school, preferring football. He played for Chadderton for a brief period. He also had trials for Manchester United, Huddersfield Town and Rochdale, but damaged his groin and was unable to pursue a career in the sport. During the Take That “quiet” years, Owen spent some time back in Lancashire and was often spotted at musical events put on and performed by local boarding school, “Casterton School”. He used the school gymnasium on Tuesday evenings for football practice with mates.
"I Am What I Am" is the third and final single to be released from Take That band member Mark Owen's debut solo album, Green Man. The single was released on 1 August 1997. The single peaked at number 29 on the UK Singles Chart, becoming his worst performing single from Green Man. "I Am What I Am" was originally intended to become the fourth single from the album, however due to ongoing battles between Owen and the label, became his final single on RCA Records before he was dropped.
I Am What I Am may refer to:
Col cuore in gola (internationally released as With Heart in Mouth, I Am What I Am and Deadly Sweet) is a 1967 Italian giallo film directed by Tinto Brass. It is loosely based on the novel Il sepolcro di carta by Sergio Donati.
The film used storyboards from Guido Crepax.
Macho Man is the second studio album by Village People, released on February 27, 1978. The album gained success due to its hit singles, "Macho Man" (US Billboard pop chart #25) and "Key West." Rolling Stone said of the album, "It seems certain to become the first out-and-out disco album without John Travolta on its cover ever to be certified platinum".
This album was reissued to CD in 1999.
All songs written and composed by Henri Belolo, Jacques Morali, Peter Whitehead and Victor Willis, except where noted.
