As a Jew Kafka was isolated from the German community in Prague, but his friend & biographer Max Brod tried to promote his career as a writer. But Kafka published only a few stories & instructed that upon his death his manuscripts be destroyed. Brod betrayed him & got them published.

The USS Vincennes (one of the Navy's ultra-sophisticated computer-supported Aegis cruisers) "accidentally" blows an Iranian airliner out of the sky, says it mistook it for an F-14 jet fighter. 1999 -- Paul Wulf (1921-1999) dies. German militant antifascist much influenced by the work of author Erich Mühsam.
Placed in an orphanage at age seven, Wulf was a victim of Nazi eugenics, forcibly sterilized in 1938. During WWII he was involved in underground work with prisoners, as well as sabotage. Following the war he remained a persistent Nazi-hunter, flushing out & exposing those seeking to hide & integrate themselves back into the government & community.
