Nevada Drug Court is a rehabilitation program that lasts about a year. And upon successful completion, the defendant's drug possession charge is dismissed. People who complete Nevada Drug Court may have an easier time getting a job since there will not be a drug conviction on their record. Nevada Drug Court requires that participants attend rehabilitation counseling once or twice a week. They also have to appear regularly in court so the judge may assess their progress. They also have to submit to random drug testing and remain drug-free. People are usually ineligible for Nevada Drug Court if they have prior drug convictions or are facing charges of selling or trafficking drugs. Note that Nevada Drug Court is meant only for drug addicts. Non-addicts facing Nevada PCS crimes may be able to complete a short education class instead of Drug Court. Also note that participants who violate Nevada Drug Court rules can be expelled from the program and convicted of the PCS charge. In practice, most people are allowed one strike before being thrown out of Nevada Drug Court.
