Urgent - need to regain access to WSM / Revolt space
Author: andrewflood :: Posted: Jul 23rd, 2013, 9:51 am
Hi,

I couldn't sport any contact details on the site so I'm posting here. I maintained the flag.blackened.net/revolt pages on the site for many years in the 90's and early 2000's before losing access during one of the periods when the site was down. I wasn't too concerned as we had our own site by then but I now have an important issue where someone's family who live under a repressive regime have had a visit from the secret police because their name appears in an article from the early 2000's. I've been able to change that in the copy on struggle.ws but can't access the copy here. Could an admin either contact me to give me access again or if its simpler (and it may be) remove the problematic article from the copy here. I don't want to link to it for obvious reasons so PM or email me for details.

thanks
Andrew

A year passes without flag and ye hardly know it. In other news, the sun is on track in it's orbit around the Milky Way.

Cracking Good Captcha Included
Author: Canteloupe :: Posted: Jan 13th, 2010, 11:49 am
Right, just recently introduced Derky's nifty sortables captcha plugin for this bulletin board. Seems to have been pretty effective against spam which remains a huge problem on these forums otherwise.

Forum Upgrade Completed
Author: Canteloupe :: Posted: Dec 14th, 2009, 7:36 pm
Successfully upgraded from 3.0.5 to 3.0.6. This introduced new code that local hacks had to work with. The access controls for registering and anonymous posts have been re-introduced to minimize spambot activity. Re-skinned the forum to a more aesthetically brilliant design. The issue with "view active topics" was a problem for the developers in the 3.0.5 release, so everything was disabled in 3.0.6 and had to be reactivated. See the discussion here.

Repaired Link BBCode
Author: Canteloupe :: Posted: Sep 28th, 2009, 6:02 pm
Changed simpletext to text for the text portion of the link pair. The url is defined as:

http(s)://somedomain.sometld/somefile-or-other-resource

Also, a new tag for google videos added.

The "What's New" Page Link Added to Forum Header

It's between FAQ and Search. Takes you to olde style forum theme showing a list of the latest posts, with author and date information.

Theme change
Author: Canteloupe :: Posted: Jan 26th, 2009, 5:47 pm
Decided to use a prefab theme with some modifications so as to reintroduce the black and red elements without being too obnoxious.

One of the hacks plays with the title attribute to the site name which appears at the top. I hope it doesn't break the forum. :?

Basic RSS

Installed a much better news feed mod developed by Mark Hamill. Same button to push. It takes you to a form you can custom configure for just the sort of forum feed you're willing to tolerate.

Restored short url feature with slight modification
Author: Canteloupe :: Posted: Nov 26th, 2008, 4:47 pm
The make clickable function has been altered so that, in the handling of extensive urls, the domain bit is included in the shortened version, rather than arbitrarily lopped off.

This is for those who can't be bothered to set a proper link in their posts, prefering instead to slop the url into their posts in it's most gruesome raw form.

The previous mod just inserted the word 'link' into the post. It was an economical workaround but not very descriptive. Of course, the most descriptive is a properly formed link.

In any event, here are a couple of examples where urls exceed a set length:

A phpBB3 3.02 style called plainjane is the basis of the current look. Will see how it goes.
