O presente artigo discute, por meio de elementos teóricos e históricos, a relação do anarquismo com poder, classe e transformação social. Partindo de uma definição do anarquismo, sustenta que relacionar anarquismo e poder exige superar uma problemática semântica, e propõe conceituar o poder em termos de relação entre forças sociais assimétricas. Sustenta ainda que os anarquistas têm uma concepção e um projeto geral de poder que subsidia sua concepção de classe, estabelecida por meio de um tipo de poder (a dominação), e constitui as bases de sua noção de transformação social, que se caracteriza por: sua crença na capacidade de realização dos sujeitos que constituem parte das distintas classes dominadas, seu investimento na transformação dessa capacidade em força social, seu intento para que esta força aumente permanentemente, sua defesa de um processo revolucionário que permita superar as forças inimigas e substituir o poder dominador da sociedade por um poder autogestionário. read full story / add a comment

Κάθε εξουσία κοσμική ή ανθρώπινη απορρέει απευθείας από την πνευματική ή θεϊκή εξουσία. Η εξουσία όμως είναι άρνηση της ελευθερίας. Ο Θεός, ή μάλλον το πλάσμα φαντασίας που λέγεται θεός, είναι κατά συνέπεια ο καθαγιασμός και το πνευματικό και ηθικό αίτιο όλων των υποδουλώσεων πάνω στη γη. Campaigns teach by more than what is in their written programs. Even if the campaign was more explicitly radical, functionally it is teaching people that social change comes about through electing better politicians. The campaign has all the features of a mainstream election effort – adoration of a single personality, exaggeration of his “leadership”, meaningless pledges to “get results for you”. This is an elitist approach that reinforces the passivity of people by making someone else the “leader” who gets things done, instead of arguing for all of us to take control over our own lives. The activists and community members who have dived into the Ty Moore campaign are not prioritizing organizing one-on-ones to plan direct actions at work, at school, or in their neighborhoods, or discussing and debating how to replace the racist police with community militias or how narrow gender-roles stifle our humanity or how to build rank & file power against the union bureaucracy. They are rallying around “our guy” and training people to fundraise and to get out the vote. This is the main lesson that participants in the campaign are gaining: How to participate in this unjust system. read full story / add a comment

En la tarde del día 2 de Noviembre, el dirigente campesino César García, presidente de la Junta de Acción Comunal de la vereda Cajón La Leona (Cajamarca, Tolima), fue asesinado, a sangre fría, de un tiro a la cabeza mientras regresaba a su finca junto a su compañera y su hijo. García se había destacado por su participación en el Comité Ambiental y Campesino de Cajamarca por ola Defensa de la Vida, el Agua y el Alimento, organización que ha venido liderando la lucha de la comunidad contra el proyecto mega-extractivo de La Colosa. Nos parece clave preguntarnos, ¿quién se beneficia de este crimen? Nos es, lamentablemente, demasiado familiar la situación de que, cuando los intereses de gente muy poderosa se ven amenazados, surjan "fuerzas obscuras" que siembran la desestabilización, el terror, la muerte… después de lo cual, en medio de la arremetida represiva para garantizar la “seguridad inversionista”, hacen entrada triunfante los "pacificadores" con su portafolio rebosante de negocios y contratos. read full story / add a comment

Junho e julho foram meses de grandes manifestações populares, onde trabalhadores, estudantes, desempregados e diversos setores da classe oprimida foram às ruas em várias cidades do país para lutar contra os abusos das corporações capitalistas e do governo. A força vinda da base da classe oprimida alcançou repercussão mundial, e como não poderia ser diferente encontrou adversários reacionários em seu caminho: a Rede Globo, as demais mídias capitalistas e os setores direitistas tentaram esvaziar o conteúdo social reivindicatório das pautas das manifestações, seja com generalizações do tipo “contra a corrupção”, ou com apelações ufanistas do tipo “o gigante acordou”. Apesar disso, a forte pressão popular abaixou as tarifas dos transportes em muitas cidades, representando uma vitória incontestável do povo contra as classes opressoras. read full story / add a comment

Ο ρόλος των κοινωνικών κινημάτων είναι να στέψουν την προσοχή προς την ανθρώπινη χειραφέτηση και την κοινωνική απελευθέρωση, διαμέσου της συνεργασίας και της αλληλεγγύης, συστατικά στοιχεία που αντιμάχονται την εθνοκεντρική κατασκευή τα οποία απεχθάνεται ο εθνικισμός. Η επιλογή της μνήμης πρέπει να είναι πάντα κοινωνική, στέλνοντας τον εθνικισμό στην λήθη εκεί που του αξίζει. Άλλωστε ο προδοτικός εφιάλτης ήταν έλληνας κάτι που υπέρμαχοι της «προγονικής» ιστορίας συνειδητά αποκρύπτουν. Οι εθνικιστές είναι οι νέοι εφιάλτες για την κοινωνία. Γι’ αυτό και η μέγιστη δυνατή πράξη, η απονομιμοποίηση τους δεν θα γίνει από την «θεσμική δημοκρατία» αλλά από την ίδια την κοινωνία, όχι των εθνών, αλλά των ανθρώπων! read full story / add a comment

Over the last couple of days we have witnessed massive media hysteria about the case of Maria, a young girl supposedly abducted by a Roma couple in Greece. DNA tests and Lombroso-style racial profiling have come into action in a case that has stirred the irrational anxiety that feeds racism and bigotry. Beyond the fact that child abduction is a serious issue, the "whiteness" and "blondeness" of the alleged victim have been emphasised together with the "Roma" condition of the alleged culprits. Let us remember that this is taking place in Greece, a country where blatant racism (as expressed by Golden Dawn) is on the rise, so there are good reasons to be cautious about this whole case. read full story / add a comment

In Ireland institutional racism has evolved to come fitted as standard. At the same time the State dithers about making the decision on whether or not to grant Travellers ethnic status. As the Stephen Lawrence family lawyer, Imran Khan stated – when you write laws of the land specifically for a people – it is a sure sign that you recognise them as a specific group when you bring in laws that pertain only to them. So, in Ireland, are Travellers specifically targeted in the Anti-Trespass Act brought in 2002 and Section 24 of the Criminal Justice Act (1994). read full story / add a comment
