Recently, China has continuously seen news on
the investigation into members of the "petroleum
clique" of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
This has drawn public attention worldwide.
Four executives from the China National
Petroleum Corp (CNPC) have been detained.
Jiang Jiemin, former CNPC President, is reportedly
under investigative probes for serious disciplinary violation.
On September 3, the CCP central authorities announced
the removal of Jiang from his position as head of State-
Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.
Commentators suggest the investigation is targeting former
Politburo Standing Committee member Zhou Yongkang.
Furthermore, this action has pulled out Zeng Qinghong,
the mastermind of the CCP faction headed by Jiang Zemin.
Hong Kong's Ming Pao reported that Jiang Jiemin has
been called the new star of the CCP "petroleum clique".
Jiang once controlled state-owned petroleum
businesses worth several Billion yuan.
Zeng Qinghuong and Zhou Yongkang played key
roles in the promotion of Jiang, says the news.
Ming Pao says Zhou Yongkang and Zeng Qinghong,
trusted follower of Jiang Zemin, had worked in
the petroleum industry for over 30 years.
Zeng was the real unseen head of the
"petroleum clique", according to the report.
Xia Xiaoqiang, commentator: "Hong Kong's
negative news about Zeng Qinghong doesn't
signal that the CCP is moving against him.
It is only a warning against Zeng, as the CCP
is now in the process of taking down Zhou Yongkang."
Observers think that Zeng is the mastermind
of the faction headed by Jiang Zemin.
For Jiang's faction, Zeng has planned the most
important political actions over the past years.
In 2002, Jiang Zemin was facing supposed retirement
at the 16th Party Congress, this made him upset.
Meanwhile, Li Ruihuan, the then Chairman
of the National Political Consultative
Conference, was a strong opponent of Jiang.
Besides, Li Ruihuan has never openly supported
the CCP crackdown against Falun Gong.
This was a particular concern for Jiang Zemin,
who himself had launched the persecution.
Zeng Qinghong then proposed a new
hidden rule on the CCP Politburo personnel.
That is, Politburo members' retirement age became
sixty eight, which forced Li Ruihuan to leave his post.
At the 16th Party congress, Zeng and Zhang Wannian,
then Vice Chairman of Central Military Commission
(CMC), unexpectedly made a "special motion".
The proposal helped Jiang Zemin to
stay on in his post as CMC Chairman.
Xia Xiaoqiang: "Media has reported that
Zeng Qinghong had planned at least three
assassinations of Hu Jintao, between 2006-2009.
Ever since the political scandals of Bo Xilai and
Wang Lijun broke out in 2012, the battle between
Jiang Zemin's faction and the faction under
Hu Jintao and Xi Jinping have been very fierce.
Zeng Qinghong has been deeply involved in all
actions staged by Jiang's faction against Hu and Xi."
For over a year in Hong Kong, the CCP-backed
Hong Kong Youth Care Association has sabotaged
Falun Gong practitioners' exposing the truth of persecution.
Reportedly, Zeng Qinghong had instructed Leung Chun-ying,
underground CCP member and Hong Kong Chief Executive,
to secretly support the Youth Care Association's vandalism.
Xing Tianxing, commentator: "Zeng has
long worked as Jiang's mastermind.
During Jiang's serious illness, Zeng was behind many
disruptive activities, and responsible for Jiang's evildoings."
Has the CCP considered Zeng Qinghong as
a "big tiger", when taking down Zhou Yongkang?
Xia Xiaoqiang: "Now Xi Jinpings' anti-corruption
drive seems to be reaching Zhou Yongkang.
Will Zeng Qinghong be the next target?
This may depend on the CCP's needs
and the development of the situation.
We have yet to see overt moves against Zeng."
Xia Xiaoqiang further suggests that Xi combating
"big tigers" is aimed at purging Bo Xilai's followers.
It is to cement Xi's own status.
Besides, Xi axing the "petroleum clique" is paving a way
for CCP Premier Li Keqiang's economic reform, he says.
Xia Xiaoqiang: "Currently, China's economic problem
may become a crucial factor leading to the CCP's collapse.
China's economy is now at a dead end.
Li Keqiang's economic reform precisely
affects the family benefits of Zhou Yongkang,
Zeng Qinghong and Jiang Zemin.
Their extended families now control
China's crucial economic sources."
Xing Tianxing says that Zeng Qinghong has inextricable
political and economic relationships with Jiang and Zhou.
Based on the current situation, Zeng Qinghong is
on the verge of a fall, according to Xia Xiaoqiang.

Recently, Mainland China continuously released
information of the investigation of several current or
former executives of "Petro China",
which have generated widespread concerns.
People believe this anti-corruption investigation targeted the
"Petro Gang" and behind-the-scene leader Zeng Qinghong.
Hong Kong reported the so-called "Petro Gang"
means the political force formed of the Chinese Communist
Party (CCP) senior officials who worked with the Mainland petroleum industry.
The former CCP Vice President Zeng Qinghong
is considered the leader behind the "Petro Gang".
Zeng worked for many years in the petro industry; after a
meteoric rise, reached the Politburo Standing Committee.
During his tenure, he promoted a large number of officials
who worked with the petro industry which pushed the political force of the "Petro Gang" to its peak.
The report says that as well as Zeng, Zhou Yongkang
former CCP Politburo Standing Committee member and
the current Standing Committee member Zhang Gaoli
have both worked with the petro industry for many years.
From here we can see the interests of "Petro Gang"
in the CCP Central Committee.
Jiang Jiemin, Director of the State-owned Assets
Supervision and Administration Commission,
who is currently under investigation, also served as chairman
of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
Jiang Jiemin is regarded as one of the new stars of the
"Petro Gang".
His recent promotions were assisted by Zeng Qinghong
and Zhou Yongkang.
Bo Reached Three Pre-Trial Agreements with Beijing
Since Bo's trial ended, the public debate of his case continues.
Bo's performance at the trial has had endless speculation if
it is performed according the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
pre-determined script or performed and written to Bo's script.
The latest magazine exclusive report said,
before Bo's trial started, Bo has already reached
three agreements with Beijing.
According to informed sources,
the pre-trial agreements include;
Bo promises not to mention the political frame-up, not to
disclose state secrets, not to mention other CCP leader names.
The CCP firstly promises a public hearing, family members
Attending, an adequate defense and only three crimes listed.
Secondly, Wang Qishan serves as the special investigating
team leader of Bo's case.
Thirdly, the special investigating team represents the CCP
central and guarantees that Bo will not get the death penalty.
This informed source also said that initially Bo did not
compromise, insisting on meeting Xi Jinping personally.
He asked Xi to promise face to face.
Xi did not agree to meet Bo
but he signed to guarantee that Bo will not
be sentenced to the death penalty.

China National Petroleum Corp "Tiger's Nest" To Be Taken Down

Key figures involved in the Bo Xilai case
have continued to be drawn into the open.
Recently, Jiang Jiemin, the former president of China
National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) was removed from office.
Jiang is also head of the State-owned Assets
Supervision and Administration Commission.
Using his authority, he set up oil refinery projects,
to help Bo Xilai gain achievement in governance.
Chinese Communist Party (CCP) official
media alleges that CNPC is a"tiger's nest".
Analysts suggest that the Xi Jinping Administration's
next actions against the CNPC will be to further
undermine interests of the faction led by Jiang Zemin.
They forecast that top-level CCP infighting will make
the Party split apart more, and in a more overt way.
On September 3, China's 21st Century
Business Herald quoted sources.
It says that Jiang Jiemin has inextricable ties with Bo Xilai.
During Bo's tenure as Liaoning governor, Jiang
focused CNPC business expansion in Liaoning.
After Bo's reign over Chongqing, Jiang helped to
boost Bo's job performance with the same tricks.
Meanwhile, the Herald quoted an industry insider, who
gave views on the questionable business practices of CNPC.
He said that firstly, northern China has
a serious and excessive refining capacity.
Secondly, being less economically developed,
the North heavily relies on crude oil.
This oil is transported at high cost from the South.
Thirdly, even CNPC oil refinery projects in Chongqing
has had to import crude oil shipped from Burma.
Sinopec, another China oil giant, has located
its oil refinery plants more often in the southern
coastal regions, which are more economical.
Overseas Chinese media has reported on
an important cause of Jiang Jiemin's fall.
He has passed huge profits to Zhou Yongkang,
former Politburo Standing Committee member.
Jiang has worked under Zhou for many years.
After he took the helm of the CNPC, he has
curried favor with Zhou by abusing his power.
On September 3, the CCP Central authorities
announced the removal of Jiang Jiemin from office.
The CCP-sponsored Guangming Daily
calls the CNPC a "tiger's nest".
It stated that from it would be pulled more"big tigers".
Commentator Xia Xiaoqiang says this confirms
the news intensively reported by overseas media.
That is, the CCP has targeted
Zhou Yongkang, the "big tiger".
Recently, several CNPC executives have been taken down.
New reports emerged that Zhou Yongkang
and Zeng Qinghong have been warned,
or they have been put under house arrest.
What are the motives of the CCP axing the CNPC?
What are its actions against the interest group
led by Zhou Yongkang and Jiang Zemin?
Xia Xiaoqiang: "All along, Jiang Zemin, Zeng Qinghong,
Zhou Yongkang and the CCP princeling Chen Yuan,
have seized huge amount of wealth through a network.
This is composed of National Development Bank, the CNPC,
Sinopec, and National Development & Reform Commission.
Zhou Yongkang and Zeng Qinghong have been
closely connected with the petroleum industry.
The CNPC has helped conceal crucial criminal
evidence for core figures of Jiang Zemin's faction."
Xia Xiaoqiang says that Zhou Yongkang,
Zeng Qinghong, and Jiang Zemin were all
unseen backers of Bo Xilai's military coup plot.
The CCP has purged these "big tigers" by way
of investigating corruption inside the CNPC.
This is a relatively safe practice, considering
the CCP's political stability, according to Xia.
Political observers think that since China opened
up 30 years ago, the CCP has always justified its
political legitimacy with economic development.
Xia Xiaoqiang:"After taking office, Xi Jinping and
Li Keqiang have constantly faced the economic collapse.
This has seriously affected the CCP rule, so
economic reform becomes one of its priorities."
Xia Xiaoqiang indicates that the CCP one-party system
is a hard knot for China's economic reform and growth.
It is like a closed loop of death.
Xia Xiaoqiang: "In particular, during his tenure,
Jiang Zemin initiated a collective-corruption system.
This has given birth to massive
corruption in the CCP officialdom.
Meanwhile, it has made China's economy incurably sick.
State-owned enterprises have become almost
private properties for the families of Jiang Zemin,
Zeng Qinghong, and of Zhou Yongkang."
According to Xia Xiaoqiang, the battle will continue
between the two factions under Xi Jinping and Jiang Zemin.
Xi, who is allied with Li Keqiang and Wang Qishan,
will wage more fierce anti-corruption drives,
as well as and reforms against Jiang's faction.
At the same time, they will get more counter-attack.
It will then be followed by a more overt
splitting of the CCP, Xia Xiaoqiang forecasts.
As the infighting escalates, Xia Xiaoqiang says
that it is just a matter of time before the downfall
of Zeng Qinghong and Jiang Zemin.

The five-day trial of Bo Xilai has come to a close,
the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) immediately
announced the removal of China Oil Company's
four top officials.
Sources said, families of Zhou Yongkang,
the former head of Politburo and Zeng Qinghong,
retired former Politburo member, have dominated the
entirety of PetroChina's interests.
Foreign media reported that the Bo Xilai trial is
just the "beginning of the drama".
Zhou Yongkang could well be the next on the target list.
On August 27, CCP officials announced, Wang Yongchun,
a deputy general manager of China National Petroleum Corp.
(CNPC), suspected "severe Disciplinary violations."
Wang is now under investigation.
The following day, three top officials of CNPC were
under investigation.
They are Li Hualin, vice-president of PetroChina,
Ran Xinquan,
vice-president of PetroChina and Changqing Oil,
& Wang Daofu, the chief geologist of PetroChina.
Outsiders believe that Zeng Qinghong and Zhou Yongkang
are the main heads of the "Oil faction".
In the past, Zhou Yongkang had served in the
oil industry for 38 years.
WikiLeaks exposed how Zhous & the Zengs
had dominated the entire China Oil industry.
The Bo Xilai trial has just finished, foreign media
now focus their attentions upon Zhou Yongkang.
Chinese scholar Yu Meisun, former State Council Secretary,
told Deutsche Welle that he constantly heard rumors about Zhou.
Although Bo did not confess in any statement against Zhou
in court at this time,
Zhou is still the character being most highlighted
during Bo's case.
In addition, since the time it was decided to investigate Bo,
Zhou Yongkang has been a key player since the beginning.
On August 28, USA's Quartz magazine analyzed how
"the focus on the oil industry itself & the specific investigation of two of the four executives,
has added fuel to a growing sense that Beijing is building
a corruption case against Zhou Yongkang."
Hong Kong's Apple Daily cited scholars that the CCP
immediately focused on PetroChina after Bo's trial.
It is directly targetting Zhou Yongkang.
The report claimed that this is the first step towards an
in depth fight concerning the oil company, there is sure to be a follow-up.
The New York Times reported that the investigation
of China's oil industry has been politically sensitive.
It will arouse public speculation.
The report said Zhou Yongkang has close ties
in the oil industry,
it prompted speculation about whether powerful
party figures could well be ensnared in these enquiries.
Overseas media also speculated that Bo's trial is just
the "beginning of a drama",
Zhou Yongkang could very much be the next target.
Li Jianmang, Netherlands-based current affairs commentator:
"The CCP wants to fight Zhou Yongkang, the main reason is that he and Bo are close allies.
From Xi Jinping's determination we can see that
Xi treated Zhou as one of the "tigers".
If Xi can't fight Zhou, it symbolizes Xi's plan as
"fighting with tigers' is in vain."
At the end of 2012, Chongqing police chief Wang Lijun fled to
the US consulate with secret documents seeking political asylum.
It reportedly said that, in February Xi Jinping visited the US
& was told by the US that Bo Xilai and Zhou Yongkang
had plotted a military coup to remove Xi.
Shi Da, current affairs commentator said
it is quite possible to catch Zhou Yongkang next.
Shi Da: "If the current leadership can't restrain Bo Xilai,
how can they carry onthe campaign of anti-corruption
and fighting tigers?
Thus I think after the Bo trial, it is much more likely
to catch Zhou Yongkang next."
When Zhou Yongkang was in charge of
Political and Legislative Committee,
he implemented brutal measures of "maintaining stability".
Numerous innocent people were persecuted,
there are many complaints.
Shi Da believes that for the CCP leadership,
punishing Zhou Yongkang would do more good than harm.

CRH Scandal Goes on: CCP Top-Level Infighting Grows

A real-name whistle-blowing action against Song Lin, the
president of China Resources (Holdings) Company (CRH)
has gained media spotlight in China and abroad.
Song was accused of committing massive corruption.
He was the second vice-ministerial level official of
the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), after Liu Tienan,
who has been denounced.
The Central Discipline Inspection Commission (CDIC)
has taken over the case.
Who are the string-pullers behind Song Lin?
What political impact can the scandal cause?
Both questions have now drawn media focus.
On 17th July, in his real name weibo (micro-blog),
a Beijing journalist Wang Wenzhi, informed on the
corruption offence by Song Lin and other CRH managers.
Song was accused of malfeasance in the acquisition of
a coal mine in Shanxi, leading to losses of billions
in state-owned assets.
The news was swiftly reported on by Xinhua News Agency
and by major web portals in China.
Yet, the reports were all removed later.
That night, the CRH alleged that the whistle-blowing
action was malicious slander.
The CRH claim was emphasized in bold at ifeng.com.
It also made headlines for two days at 163.com,
a popular web portal run by NetEase.
Strangely, Wang's whistle-blowing on weibo, reappeared.
Wang told China's media that his weibo message
wasn't removed by himself.
And that he had received an anonymous threat
over the telephone.
On 18th July, the CCP official media reported that
the CDIC had received materials against
the CRH management on corruption.
The case has been handled under normal procedure.
The media asks the public to "be patient."
Wu Fan, chief editor of China Affairs Magazine, comments.
The CRH scandal shows the CCP top-level infighting
has been growing, he says.
Wu Fan: There must be a backstage backer behind
such a scandal.
The backers may implicate any deceased, alive or
retired CCP officials.
This tells us that the CCP infighting has expanded
from the political arena to the economic.
Right now, it's hard to anticipate the result.
According to critic Han Wu, the CCP will soon hold its
annual "Beidaihe meeting" in August.
At the top-leader secret meeting, political power
will be reassigned.
Only then, can the finalized policy represent
Xi Jinping's ruling stance in the next five years.
Thus, the CRH scandal may only be a CCP top-level
warning against some specific factions, says Han.
Han Wu: I think that the CCP might do something
outwardly to get by.
It won't conduct a real probe into the case,
for that will pull out the roots.
They know each others top secret, but
none of them dare to expose it completely.
Commentator Lan Shu says, the timing of
the scandal exposure was very sensitive.
This is because the Bo Xilai-case will be tried
within two months.
Who stands behind Song Lin? ——
A question for thought.
Hong Kong's Apple Daily reports that Song Lin's
smooth promotion inside the CRH,
was related to the son-in-law of Chen Yun,
deceased former CCP veteran.
Chen Yun's son, president of China Development Bank, highly
praised ex-CCP leader Jiang Zemin in his article in April.
The Epoch Times reports that Song Lin was
henchman of Zeng Qinghong, core figure of Jiang's faction.
Zeng was also known as an ally of Bo Xilai.
The Epoch Times article cites an unnamed official from
a mainland-funded enterprise based in Hong Kong.
It said, the whistle-blowing action against the CRH president
signals the downfall of the faction backing Song Lin.
Lan Shu: I think the major cause of this is that
the CCP leadership is still at odds over
handling the Bo Xilai case.
Their infighting is still going on.
The exposure of Song Lin was a blow striking
against Jiang's faction.
It has also been used to warn the figures behind Song Lin,
which include Jiang Zemin and Zeng Qinghong.
This may help force them to make some concessions
in the pending trial of Bo Xilai.
The Epoch Times report reveals that Song Lin, at the behest of
Zeng Qinghong, has long backed Leung Chun-ying, a
Hong Kong Chief Executive.
Leung has for a long time overtly supported Jiang's faction.
The CRH, registered in Hong Kong, has actually
helped the Liaison Office in Hong Kong to control the region.
For the past years, the CRH has been operating
under the umbrella of Zeng Qinghong.
Taiwan's Central News Agency states that
on 17th July, Wang Wenzhi said that he will soon
expose more evidence in hand.

On the fifth day of the trail of Bo Xilai, former Chongqing
Party Secretary of the Communist Party (CCP),
the Chinese authorities announced that Wang Yongchun,
Deputy Manager of the China National Petroleum
Corporation, was under investigation for serious violations.
Observers believe that Bo Xilai's arrogance in court
shows that he had support.
The latest news the Wang Yongchun investigation is probably
an attempt to limit the power of Bo Xilai's alliance.
The Central Discipline Inspection Commission website
published the news that
Wang Yongchun is now under investigation
for serious violations.
Wang Yongchun, 53, has worked for 30 years
in the oil and gas industry.
After the investigation of Liu Tienan,
former National Energy Secretary,
Wang is the second high ranking official
under investigation for serious violations.
Tang Jingyuan, political observer: "Wang Yongchen
was under investigation for quite a while,
but why is the news of his alleged violations publicized now?
The real purpose of this maneuver is to warn Jiang Zemin
that he cannot even protect Zhou Yongkang, let alone Bo Xilai, the jailbird."
Tang Jingyuan believes Bo Xilai's defiance in court indicated
that he still cherishes the hope of a political comeback.
Bo wants to rely on the support of Zhou Yongkang,
Zeng Qinhong, and Jiang Zemin to regain power in the future.
Zeng Qinghong and Zhou Yongkang are representatives
of the Oil Gang.
Zhou Yongkang has worked in the oil sector for 38 years.
WikiLeaks has exposed that Zhou Yongkang
and the Zeng family control all Chinese oil interests.
After the 18th Congress, all victims of Xi Jinping's
anti-corruption campaign had strong support.
For example, Li Chuncheng, the former Sichuan Deputy
Secretary, was supported by Zhou Yongkang;
Yu Junqing, the Central Translation Bureau Secretary,
was supported by Li Changchun,
and Liu Tienan was supported by Jiang Zemin and Li Peng.
Xia Xiaoqiang, political commentator: "It now appears
that Bo's retraction in court is actually supported by Jiang and Zhou.
So, the CCP will accelerate the process of controlling
Zhou.
The main reason is that Zhou had formed a second power
center with his stability maintenance system during
his reign, causing tremendous chaos in China.
If the problem of Zhou is not properly addressed,
it will be difficult for the CCP to move forward."
Analysis pointed out that the essence of the Bo Xilai trial
is the power struggle of the CCP's high level, including
Bo's singing revolutionary songs and anti-corruption moves,
which were steps to lay a foundation for public opinion.
Tang Jingyuan, political observer: "A characteristic
of the CCP is whenever there is a huge maneuver,
there will be a foreshadowing process, namely, sending out
messages to reduce the shock and impact of evidence,
and also facilitating people to make choices."

Chinese Regime Ruins Xue Manzi's Reputation on CCTV

A media outlet of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)
recently broadcast a series of criminal suspects confessing
crimes such as Xue Manzi's prostitution, which aroused
the public's suspicion.
Analysts points out that when the CCP wants to bring
someone down, its consistent strategy is to control the instrument of public opinion and discredit him.
Some lawyers believe that using media outlets to put detained
suspects on public display reflects authorities' specific political aims.
CCTV showed each foreigner and Chinese executive
admitting a crime.
British Reuters pointed out that this action caused concerns
for the business sector.
Some lawyers said that it was a mockery of legal proceedings.
For three minutes, CCTV's News Network broadcast
network VIP Xue Manzi getting caught in prostitution.
Xue also cooperated with police in admitting his mistake.
Xue Manzi is a well-known blog writer with12 million fans.
Any of Xue's messages on the Internet will be forwarded
hundreds of thousands of times.
It is understood that detained criminals will confess
their crimes and accept judicial actions, but confessions via the media are relatively rare.
Some netizens said that China's CCTV is the most expensive
public resource.
Wasting public resources on something so small
is beneath national dignity.
Sun Wenguang, a retired professor of Shandong University:
"Whether these crime suspects are guilty or not depends on evidence.
Prostitution is common in China and so many people
are doing it, including officials, judges and police officers."
Recently, officials of Shanghai political and legal system
were exposed.
A few judges of the High Court got caught involved
in group prostitution.
Following that came the scandal of Ma Huaihai, Shanghai
Jinshan District police chief, committing bribery, murder and having many mistresses.
Cui Yadong, Acting President of High Court
and Party Secretary, was also smired by scandals.
Hong Kong's Open magazine editor Cai Yongmei: "In China,
corrupt officials and their private lives are far worse than Xue Manzi, including the group prostitution cases.
The CCP wants to punish Xue Manzi to warn those network
VIPs who often criticize the government via their blogs."
Tang Jitian, Mainland human rights lawyer:
"CCTV has a very poor reputation.
Airing a common prostitution case during prime time just
to cooperate with the so-called ideology is unjustified.
That is not implementing the law, but they are doing it
for a certain campaign."
Outsiders believe when the CCP wants to bring a man down,
it starts from the media every time.
It ruins a person morally by public opinion, instead
of convicting a person legally.
British BBC quoted James Zimmerman, former Chairman
of the Chamber of Commerce in China, who pointed out
that if public confessions were coerced to some extent,
evidence will be problematic.
In addition, according to the CCP, "Criminal Law
Amendment (eight)" has a new provision:
Truthfully confessing one's crime can reduce
one's punishment,
because when truthfully confessing ones crime to avoid
serious consequences, one can obtain lighter punishment.
However, the provision of truthfully admitting one's crime
may be abused.
Statistics show that from May 1, 2011, after the
Implementation of Criminal Law Amendment (eight),
the Shanghai H District People's Court concluded a total
of more than 1,000 criminal cases within a year,
and 80% of the defendants were found to have admitted
their crimes truthfully.

Recently, foreign media reports that Zhou Yongkang, former member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee, would be thoroughly investigated. After the removal
of Jiang Jiemin, director of SASAC (State-Assets Supervision and Administration Commission), and the investigations of four oil executives, Hua Bangsong, chairman of Shanghai Wison Engineering Company, was also placed under investigation.
Wison stocks, listed in the Hong Kong stock exchange, plunged so drastically that it was suspended from trading.
Rumors spread quickly that the big boss behind Wison is Zhou Bin, Zhou Yongkang's son.
According to British Financial Times, after the stock fell 16% on Monday, its trading was suspended. The company said in a statement that the board of directors has been informed that the company's controlling shareholder, Hua Bangsong, is now assisting relevant authorities in China to carry out its investigations.
Hua and his wife own 80% of Wison Company. Hua became a billionaire after Wison listed in Hong Kong last year.According to insiders, Hua has cancelled next week's meeting, a sign that he could be arrested.
Hua's company is one of the contractors of the largest non-state owned oil and gas enterprises, PetroChina.
PetroChina has become Wison's biggest customer. In 2012, Wison publicized that from 2009-2011, PetroChina revenue alone was 63%, 80% and 58% respectively.
According to Hong Kong's Apple Daily, Wison is a privately-owned enterprise from Shanghai. It was listed in Hong Kong late last year. This year, rumor has it that Zhou Bin is the boss behind Wisonand Chairman Hua Bangsong is just in charge of equity holdings.
In addition, people noticed the close relationship between independent non-executives Liu Ji, Wu Jianmin and Jiang Zemin.
Liu Ji, 78, was Jiang's think tank and Wu Jianmin, 74, was former spokesman of the Information Department of the Foreign Ministry, as well as Chinese Ambassador to France.
On Wednesday, according to People Net, a state-owned media outlet, suspension of Wison Engineering continued.Because PetroChina was involved in the oil corruption case,Wison's recent share price fell sharply. The report also said that a large number of Wison's orders and many executives are also from PetroChina.
According to Mainland's First Financial Daily, Wison Engineering is quite unique in its operations; after receiving orders from the subsidiary companies of PetroChina, they then subcontracting the construction units of PetroChina. Is there something fishy?
The Epoch Times reported that Jiang Jiemin has profited tremendously from all petrochemical projects. His annual income is estimated at several billions. The most striking news is that he had illegally awarded Wison giant petrochemical projects.
Statistics show that a 10 million ton per year oil refinery and 800,000 tons per year ethylene refining integration project from Sichuan Petrochemical was contracted to be built by Wison Engineering Ltd. The construction in Pengzhou began in August 2009.According to the locals, Zhou Yongkang fought hard for that project.
Because the project caused environmental pollution,Pengzhou residents strongly opposed. Authorities arrested activist Tan Zuoren and others. In 2007, Chengdu activist Huang Qi and Tan Zuoren went to the construction site to conduct an environmental hazard investigation.Huang Qi, Chengdu activist: "It is actually beneficial for interest groups, while all the people of Chengdu and surrounding areas pay for the damage."
According to reliable sources, the Pengzhou project has been the worst project in history. At least 10 billion from a 38 billion project ended up in the pockets of individuals. Thus, the whole project is nothing but shoddy construction.Huang Qi pointed out that since 1999, Zhou Yongkang, secretary of the Sichuan Provincial office, used a series of public security, national security and other means to suppress civil rights activists. For example, they blocked Skynet on June 4th, aiming to protect the interests of corrupt officials.Huang Qi: "For example, back in 2000, they shut down Skynet, China's first human rights website, because we exposed the forced appendectomies of 200,000 farmers. That case involved more than ten billion yuan, benefiting seven ministries."
Overseas media disclosed that Zhou Bin used his father's influence in the political and legal system to acquire assets of 20 billion yuan, from money bartering, selling official positions and collecting protection money. The New York Times reported that a task force has been set up to investigate Zhou Yongkang.
A former anti-corruption official revealed that investigators have interrogated Zhou Bin about the Sichuan corruption case.
