Amalie Zara Benjamin (born June 10, 1982 in Newton, Massachusetts) is a writer for the Boston Globe, and a former Boston Red Sox beat reporter for the Boston Globe. She is a 2004 graduate of Northwestern University with a degree in English. She currently lives in the Allston neighborhood of Boston.

Benjamin began her journalism career in 2001 as a stringer for the Community Newspaper Company in Needham, Massachusetts. Over the next three years she interned at the Worcester Telegram & Gazette in Worcester, Massachusetts, The Times-Picayune in New Orleans, Louisiana and the Washington Post. While in college, she was a contributor to, and sports editor for, the Daily Northwestern’s weekly football magazine, Gameday.

She joined the Boston Globe after graduating from college, and she initially covered high school sports. After the departure of Chris Snow from the Globe in 2006, she started covering the Red Sox as the backup beat reporter and also worked as a general-assignment sports reporter. When Gordon Edes left in August 2008, the Globe promoted her to Red Sox beat writer. She announced in November 2010, soon after getting married, that she had left the position as Globe Red Sox beat reporter and would become a feature writer for the Globe.

Daniel F. Duquette (born 1958) is the Executive Vice-President of Baseball Operations for the Baltimore Orioles. He was the General Manager of the Montreal Expos from September 1991 through January 1994 and for the Boston Red Sox from 1994 through March 2002. He was also a founding member of the Israel Baseball League in 2007.

Duquette oversaw quick turnarounds during his tenure as GM of the Expos and Red Sox, expanding fan interest in both markets. As farm system director of the Expos from 1987 to 1991, Duquette helped build the player development operations.

A native of Dalton, Massachusetts, Duquette attended Amherst College, where he was a catcher on the varsity baseball team.

Duquette got his start in professional baseball as a scouting assistant with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1980 after a fellow Amherst alumnus, Harry Dalton, the Milwaukee general manager, saw his letter seeking employment in the game.^{[citation needed]}

In 1987 he became Montreal's director of player development. In his three years in that role, the Expos drafted Marquis Grissom, Cliff Floyd and Rondell White and signed Vladimir Guerrero, Javier Vazquez, Orlando Cabrera and many other major leaguers. Duquette replaced Dave Dombrowski as Expos' GM on September 19, 1991. Under Duquette the Expos acquired elite pitchers Ken Hill, John Wetteland, Jeff Shaw and traded for Pedro Martínez from the Dodgers for second baseman Delino DeShields. Duquette is credited with building the 1994 Expos team,^{[citation needed]} which had the best record in baseball at the time of the 1994-95 Major League Baseball strike.

Carly Rae Jepsen (born November 21, 1985) is a Canadian recording artist and singer-songwriter from Mission, British Columbia. In 2007, she placed third in the fifth season of Canadian Idol, and was a part of the Canadian Idol Top 3 concert tour.

Shortly after competing on Idol, she signed to Fontana and MapleMusic, and released her debut album, Tug of War, on September 30, 2008. Three years later, she released a new single, entitled "Call Me Maybe", which was released by 604 Records, and was followed by the release of her debut extended play, Curiosity, on February 14, 2012. "Call Me Maybe" was met with much success, reaching the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching the number 1 spot on the Canadian Hot 100. The single also went to number 1 in Australia, Ireland and the United Kingdom. Jepsen signed with Interscope Records in 2012.

Jepsen attended Heritage Park Secondary School in Mission, British Columbia and has since performed there post-graduation. She later attended the Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria, BC before auditioning for Canadian Idol. After completing the Canadian Idol tour, Jepsen retreated to B.C. to focus on writing, recording and completing her band. Her demos attracted attention and she was eventually signed a joint management deal with Simkin Artist Management and Dexter Entertainment. A deal with Fontana/Maple Music quickly followed, leading Jepsen into the studio with producer/writer Ryan Stewart.

Jackie Bradley, Jr. (born April 19, 1990) is a professional baseball outfielder in the Boston Red Sox organization.

Bradley began his college career in 2009 after attending Prince George High School in Prince George, Virginia. Prior to attending college, he had been named to the 2008 Virginia AAA All-State team and he was listed as the 40th best Virginia-based baseball prospect for the 2008 Major League Baseball draft by Baseball America.

For the University of South Carolina in 2009, he hit .349 with 69 runs in 63 games. Posting a slugging percentage of .537, Bradley hit 11 home runs while walking 34 times and striking out only 31 times. In 2010, Bradley hit .368 with 13 home runs, 56 runs scored and 60 RBI in 67 games. He went 10-for-29 at the plate in the 2010 College World Series, being named the 2010 College World Series Most Outstanding Player.

Bradley was selected 40th overall by the Boston Red Sox in the supplemental first round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft. Bradley made his professional debut on August 23, 2011 with the Class-A Short Season Lowell Spinners.

Ryan Scott Dempster (born May 3, 1977, in Sechelt, British Columbia) is a Canadian Major League Baseball starting pitcher for the Chicago Cubs. Dempster bats and throws right-handed. He has been both a starter and a reliever in his career.

He was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 3rd round of the 1995 MLB Draft and began his career with the Gulf Coast Rangers. He subsequently played for the Hudson Valley Renegades, the Kane County Cougars and the Charleston RiverDogs.

Dempster was traded to the Florida Marlins on August 8, 1996 (with Rick Helling) for John Burkett. He made his major league debut for the Marlins, working two innings of relief, on May 23, 1998 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He allowed three earned runs on two hits in that game. He made his first start June 1 against the Chicago Cubs, but only lasted 1 1/3 innings as he was shelled for five runs while allowing 4 hits (including 2 home runs) and walking 3, to record his first career loss. After falling to 0-3 he got his first Major League win on June 28 against the Boston Red Sox, when he allowed only 1 run in 7 innings. He was 1-5 with a 7.08 ERA in 14 appearances (11 starts) that season. He started 25 games in 1999 and finished 7-8 with a 4.71 ERA.
