BP Fallon & The Bandits - "Still Legal": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist
Fronted by 109 years young singer BP Fallon who up to now has done everything in rock'n'roll apart from singing with a band - he was publicist to Led Zeppelin, managed former New York Doll Johnny Thunders, toured with U2 billed as 'Guru, Viber & DJ', turned up on BBC TV miming bass guitar with John Lennon, was media guru to Marc Bolan & T.Rex where he coined the term T.Rextasy and is immortalised as 'Purple Browed Beep' in the T.Rex hit Telegram Sam.
Following his debut 45 produced by Jack White for Jack's Third Man Records a couple of years ago - Mr White's idea - BP thought "I've got a record produced by the coolest man in rock'n'roll who also plays guitar on it - I should have a band!"
Thus BP Fallon & The Bandits - Clem Burke of Blondie on drums reunited with former Blondie bass guitarist Nigel Harrison (the classic Blondie Rock'n'Roll Hall Of Fame rhythm section that drives Blondie hits like Heart Of Glass, Atomic, the Nigel Harrison/Debbie Harry composition One Way Or Another etc etc). Bandits guitarist Aaron Lee Tasjan - the hottest young guitar-player in New York - was a member of the reformed New York Dolls on their historic tour of South America.
BPF & The Bandits just-released debut album Still Legal on their own Vibrosonic Records was recorded near Austin at Red Horse Ranch Studios. Says BP "We have an affinity with Austin - that's where we did our first-ever gig".
Austin hero Ian McLagan from the Small Faces/The Faces plays Hammond organ on The Bandits album and as a further compliment to the band they've been joined on stages several times by guitarist Lenny Kaye from The Patti Smith Group and drummer Scott Asheton from The Stooges - as well as fashion's 20 year old 'It Girl' of the moment, Vogue cover star Cara Delevingne on added vocals.
BP Fallon & The Bandits - the dark horse of rock'n'roll.

Small Faces - Kenney Jones discusses the re-masters series
Following the Small Faces' long overdue induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2012, Charly Records and its distribution partner Snapper Music will be rolling out definitive editions of the band's classic recordings for Immediate Records.
These new Re-Masters editions are issued with the full blessing and co-operation of the surviving members, Kenney Jones and Ian McLagan, and represent the fruits of five years' work in tracking down and restoring long lost original tapes and presenting them at last in the manner the band deserves, sounding more fresh and dynamic than ever.
“This is the Small Faces as they should be heard,” says Kenney Jones. “The band lived through explosive times – and every bit of that intensity found its way onto these records.”
The Small Faces were at the heart of the Swinging London scene of the late 1960s and encapsulated everything that was fast and fabulous in that great decade. Featuring the extraordinary Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane alongside Jones and McLagan the band in a short sharp career moved from beat to mod, and psychedelia to soul leaving a legacy of great songs and a unique style.
The band's finest hour is arguably OGDENS’ NUT GONE FLAKE from May 1968. This groundbreaking album will be released in a strictly limited numbered deluxe vinyl edition on April 16th in its distinctive round sleeve.
21st May will see the release on a the definitive 3-CD edition of OGDENS' in a round cardboard box featuring both the original mono and stereo versions and an additional disc of unreleased rarities and alternative versions
The band's debut album for Immediate, 'Small Faces' will be available from May 7th in a special 2-CD rigid digibook edition. This includes both the original stereo and mono versions and no less than 17 bonus tracks .
All the above three packages are now available to pre-order for the world excluding the UK from the official Immediate records website www.immediate-records.com.
Alongside these highly regarded albums, the Small Faces were also known for a string of singles which have stood the test of time . To celebrate the band's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction limited 7" picture sleeve editions of 'Itchycoo Park' and 'Tin Soldier' will be made available for Record Store Day on April 21st, from top independent record retailers around the world.
These releases are only the beginning of the campaign to present the very best of the Small Faces, sounding and looking better than ever before. Go to www.thesmallfaces.co.uk or www.immediate-records.com for latest news including the plans, as they emerge, for a definitive box set crammed full of unreleased material and other goodies.
