Beyond the Bars 2012
Beyond the Bars expanded in 2012 to involve over 100 Indigenous men and women from the inside sharing stories, songs, opinions and poems from within the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, Barwon Prison, Fulham Correctional Centre, Marngoneet Correctional Centre, Loddon Prison and Port Phillip Prison.

Beyond the Bars gave voice to the voiceless from 4 – 8 July 2011 as it celebrated 10 years of Indigenous prisoners on the airwaves during NAIDOC Week on 3CR 855AM and 3CR Digital.

During NAIDOC Week from 5 - 9 July 2010 3CR celebrated with special programming including Beyond the Bars - live radio shows from five Victorian prisons.

Beyond the Bars 2009
The Beyond the Bars prison broadcasts were part of a week of special programming at 3CR for NAIDOC Week, held from 7 - 11 July 2009. In the lead up to the live broadcasts, 3CR 855AM staged spoken word and music workshops in the prisons.

About Beyond the Bars

Each year during NAIDOC Week 3CR presents Beyond the Bars - prison radio shows featuring the stories, poems, songs and opinions of Indigenous men and women in the Victorian prison system.
