Passion, knowledge, erudition and sheer bloody minded humanity are contained in this monster tome. It's a collection of Matt Ingram's various blog guises from over the years, including Woebot. This man knows his musical onions and I defy you to read any piece and not come away wanting to immediately hear and own (he's a keen advocate of payment to artists) at least 2 of the records described in each segment. Let a bit of Woebot into your life - you won't regret it.

This reprinting of net writing probably shouldn't work as a standalone book...but it does spectacularly. Informative, witty and still carrying more than a whiff of the excitement that provoked the writing originally - can't recommend this highly enough.

I haven't finished it yet, but it reads smooth, it's free of pretension (except when it's uh, due) and best of all, it's chock full of great records. If you like Simon Reynolds, The Wire, or just need a music fix and don't know where to turn, pick up this bad boy.
