The history of ethanol fuel in Brazil dates from the 1970s and relates to Brazil’s sugarcane -based ethanol fuel program, which allowed the country to became the world's second largest producer of ethanol, and the world's largest exporter. Several important political and technological developments led Brazil to became the world leader in the sustainable use of bioethanol, and a policy model for other developing countries in the tropical zone of Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Government policies and technological advances also allowed the country to achieve a landmark in ethanol consumption, when ethanol retail sales surpassed 50% market share of the gasoline-powered vehicle fleet in early 2008. This level of ethanol fuel consumption had only been reached in Brazil once before, at the peak of the Pró-Álcool Program near the end of the 1980s.
Sugarcane has been cultivated in Brazil since 1532, introduced in Pernambuco that year, sugar was one of the first commodities exported to Europe by the Portuguese settlers.Ethyl alcohol or ethanol is obtained as a by-product of sugar mills producing sugar, and can be processed to produce alcoholic beverages, ethanol fuel or alcohol for industrial or antiseptic uses. The first use of sugarcane ethanol as fuel in Brazil dates back to the late twenties and early thirties of the 20th century, with the introduction of the automobile in the country. After World War I some experimenting took place in Brazil's Northeast Region, and as early as 1919, the Governor of Pernambuco mandated all official vehicles to run on ethanol. The first ethanol fuel production plant went on line in 1927, the Usina Serra Grande Alagoas (USGA), located in the Northeastern state of Alagoas, producing fuel with 75% ethanol and 25% ethyl ether. As other plants began producing ethanol fuel, two years later there were 500 cars running on this fuel in the country's Northeast Region.

REUPLOADED DUE TO SOUND ISSUE. Note: For a sugar wash, you probably don't need to sterilize anything. Just wash it with soap and water. The presence of other microbes can alter the taste if you plan to drink it. This is a very basic way that you can make your own DRINKABLE ethanol at home. The main premise of this video is to show just how simple and easy it is to ferment your own alcohol. In a future video, I will try to dispel some myths regarding homebrewing, such as the exaggerated risk of methanol poisoning. I will also demonstrate how easy and safe it can be to distill your own ethanol from the wash that you produce. In this video, I prepare a sugar wash (fermentation of sugar only). The process is similar to the preparation of wine or beer, but uses pure table sugar instead of a ...
Ethanol fuel is ethanol (ethyl alcohol), the same type of alcohol found in alcoholic beverages. It is most often used as a motor fuel, mainly as a biofuel additive for gasoline. World ethanol production for transport fuel tripled between 2000 and 2007 from 17 billion to more than 52 billion liters. From 2007 to 2008, the share of ethanol in global gasoline type fuel use increased from 3.7% to 5.4%. In 2011 worldwide ethanol fuel production reached 22.36 billion U.S. liquid gallons (bg) (84.6 billion liters), with the United States as the top producer with 13.9 bg (52.6 billion liters), accounting for 62.2% of global production, followed by Brazil with 5.6 bg (21.1 billion liters). Ethanol fuel has a "gasoline gallon equivalency" (GGE) value of 1.5 US gallons (5.7 L), which means 1.5 gallon...

A green vehicle is a road motor vehicle that produces less harmful impacts to the environment than comparable conventional internal combustion engine vehicles running on gasoline or diesel, or one that uses certain alternative fuels.[3][4] Presently, in some countries the term is used for any vehicle complying or surpassing the more stringent European emission standards (such as Euro6), or California's zero emissions vehicle standards (such as ZEV, ULEV, SULEV, PZEV), or the low-carbon fuel standards enacted in several countries.[5] Green vehicles can be powered by alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies and include hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles, compressed-air vehicles, hydrogen and fuel-cell vehicles, neat ethanol vehic...
http://thefilmarchive.org/ February 23, 2007 An alternative fuel vehicle is a vehicle that runs on a fuel other than "traditional" petroleum fuels (petrol or diesel); and also refers to any technology of powering an engine that does not involve solely petroleum (e.g. electric car, hybrid electric vehicles, solar powered). Because of a combination of factors, such as environmental concerns, high oil prices and the potential for peak oil, development of cleaner alternative fuels and advanced power systems for vehicles has become a high priority for many governments and vehicle manufacturers around the world. Hybrid electric vehicles such as the Toyota Prius are not actually alternative fuel vehicles, but through advanced technologies in the electric battery and motor/generator, they make ...

Train action from the last weekend in January from around New Jersey, some pretty neat trains as well; so sit back and enjoy! Jan. 29th: Kicking off on Friday with some ethanol trains, Sam and I would stop along the GSS to see K408/K409 with UP/KCS, K418/K419 with CP/CEFX and K636/K637 with UP "Ex. SP"/NS/NS power as well as a K635 heading north. Later that night after settling in at Piscataway we'd see, 18N with an Ex. UP 90MAC, 33K with UP/NS, 32A with NS/UP, Q417, 64K with the NS "Honoring Our Veterans" SD60E #6920 leading, L034, the Q141 Tropicana Juice train and finally the first consolidated 25V (consisting of "V" and "Z" cars) with 6 engines, including a CN trailing. Jan. 30th: Hanging around into the early morning hours, we'd stay to see 25R, 294, K138-26 with once again a CSX d...
Videos from a 2-trip to CSAO over the second weekend in January to start the 2016 year. Mostly all night trains ending with some in the early morning rain. Jan 9th: Starting off the evening after a little while at the mall with Sam, we'd stop by Piscataway to see a daylight Q300 go east with familiar power (Q301's power from 1/2). Following nightfall, we'd end up catching 18N, a reroute CSX RIVL ethanol K455, with a neat meet between Q410 and Q409 soon after ... with Q410 having a slug set in tow and Q409 having 2 GP40-2's, an SW1500 and an SD50-2 in tow. Then would be Q301, Q034 with my favorite CSX engine (ES44AH #802) leading and a YN3b ACe behind, 25V, 25Z, 25R with an Ex. BNSF "Triclops" trailing, Q439 and 290 with an RS3L-equipped Ex. CR leader. Jan 10th: The overflow from Saturday...
Here is some action we got when we decided to take a look around the Los Angeles Railyard which includes BNSF Hobart Yard, UP Commerce/Los Angeles East Yard, UP Spence Street, BNSF Hobart Tower, and Amtrak 8th street yards. Some neat finds from this trip were UP 8713 with the UP EC-4 Inspection railcar, BNSF SD70ACe 9281 on the Ethanol, DOTX 216 with Tioga Pass as well as 507 switching and other PV cars at 8th Street, and AMTK 503 & Silver Splendor on a almost hour late 768 Del Mar Block. There were also many other trains we spotted that aren't listed. Enjoy! TheSd90mac-Railfanner Videos 2015
Filmed 07/02/16 This is almost everything else I filmed while at the N scale convention at the beginning of the month. I had another SD card with a little more on it, but I can't find it now. So, this is it. This is mainly big the layout room with our club and another in there as well. They had some super neat features on their layout and the opening scene is just a taste. I got my train in here plenty (the UP with the Western Pacific heritage). But I tried to get plenty of the other embers trains in here too, plus a good portion of the other layout too. The dealers room was upstairs and it had a lot of goodies. But I kept myself in check and only walked out with a double stack car, a three pack of Athearn ethanol cars, some track and rail joiners for my modules. On Thursday duri...
In August my Grandparents took me to Altoona for a Railfanning Trip. We first stop at the famous Horseshoe Curve. We saw many cool and neat trains there. Then we saw 1 train at the Gallitzin Tunnels! Hope you guys enjoy!

Nearing the end of the highlights with Part 13 in at a somehow 43-minutes exactly lol. This part focuses on action from Labor Day weekend in early September, train trips throughout the entire month of September and the first trip of October. Some of the neat and notable things featured in this are, CSX "Spirit of Cincinnati" #5500 on Labor Day night. Followed by a long trip over 9/11 weekend with, a CSX oil with a BNSF trio, 294 with NS/BNSF power, a CSX oil with CSX/BNSF/BNSF power, my first ever catch of the CSX symbols S301 & L409, probably one of the best sunrises I've ever seen at Bound Brook, 18G with some Ex. CR engines + 2 NJT cars on the back, a nice meet between L409 and 290, 212 with NS/CSX/NS power, 21M with Engineer Sean, a CSX oil with a CSX D8W/D8/D8 trio, my first ever cat...
After Cassandra, I followed Zane S., Zach C and his dad & Alex C. to a spot I have never been before, Lilly, PA, just a few miles north and east. I have to say it is a very neat spot. Like Cassandra, the spot is on an area above the tracks and I could film from the grassy area with picnic table or the bridge above the tracks. Also, it was known in the last minute that ethanol train 64K had the Monongahela heritage unit and it was getting close. It was a great shot to see the train climbing with its engines in full throttle and rounding a curve coming east and for westbounds is a straight shot. The guys decided to chase 64K all the way to Altoona while I stayed put for this train and a few normal westbound intermodals, Amtrak, another oil train and a mixed freight. A few foreign power were...
Back during the Civic Holiday week my family and I went down to Ohio to go do some train-watching and ride roller coasters at Cedar Point. It was a busy day in Fostoria. Lots of action all day. We saw a lot of BNSF power and I thought those FURX units were pretty neat. There was one more train that I caught but it's special enough to have its own video so I'll upload it separately. There were some MOW guys working on main one and that caused for some pretty funny chatter over the radio about how many trains were stacking up on all three lines. I think the reason why there were so man W/B trains was because in the morning the dispatchers probably held all W/B traffic to let E/B trains through. Then after a few hours they switched over to W/B trains. I bet later that night it was probably su...
