Black Kronstadt-Crimes of Capital, Crimes of the State (Hierarkill, 1992)

Black Kronstadt formed in early 90's in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and called it a day in mid '90's, their legacy is Crimes of Capital... 7", A world to Win 7", Free Spirit lp and a contribution in Retrogression #10 but what is important and their real heritage is the fact that they were the founders of what was later to become Blackened Crust, a sub-genre that was developed by Iskra, the band that arose from the ashes of Black Kronstadt. (Iskra members are involved with Skagos, Leper, Corrodead and others)
Crimes of Capital... was released in 1992 by Hierarkill Records (band's own label), the package is awesome, the record comes in poster shaped sleeve with amazing cover artwork, lyrics, explanations, special thanks and texts about topics related with the lyrics: the other side of foldout becomes poster and includes some artwork and small-letter font writings (just like Sludge and Lettuce) about Zapatistas and ELZN, a sheet with some poetry is included. Music wise this is powerful hardcore with shouted vocals and guitar riffs influenced by Discharge, Conflict, Chaos UK and the likes, (the Blackened Crust seeds started to grow a few years latter in A World to Win 7" before take their complete form in the intense guitar riffs and screamed vocals of Iskra) and as expected for a band named after the city that is synonymous with the rebellion that became the last cry and hope for freedom in Lenin's Soviet Union (read Ida Mett's book and check youtube for some old videos), lyric wise each track is a strong political statement, the first song "Tragedy" is about the desperate 12 day revolt and struggle in Barcelona in 1909, well written lyrics and interesting enough to make you sit down and read.
No more useless rant, there are two links, the first for the tracks and the second with the high resolution scans, check also A world to win (full scans too)

Contagium-st 7"

Well, we are back after this break, actually was not a break since Crust Demos was active these past months, anyway, break, hiatus or whatever, here we are again. New oldies are added in my 7" list, some reposts are going to appear, some new ep's were sent by the bands, Whisp is moving in a new place and will be away for a while so i have to do the usual job.

Rob of Contagium sent this ep while the blog was active (or in break time, i don't remember..) and was indexed as a spam, finally i got it and despite it has been posted elsewhere i think it deserves to be here since its a great record and a hopeful beginning of a new band
Contagium (The causative agent of a communicable disease, in Latin) formed in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 2008 and about a year ago they recorded a demo delivering five tracks of stenching heavy metallic crust having its root in the UK crust scene of '80's. back in the day there were a powerful new track (Remains) with better sound quality in their myspace revealing the abilities and power of band, a few months the ep came out on Black Raven Records consisting of this track plus two more stenchcore anthems. The stuff is heavy as hell with metal influenced guitars, mid paced beat with some fast outbreaks, screamed/yell vocals, excellent sound quality and the usual artwork for a crust record. Great stuff! A travel in time that brings into present the stenching crust of Deviated Instinct, Axegrinder and the likes, This is thick and heavy, placed somewhere between Misery and Hellshock.
Thanks to Rob for sending this and apologize for being too late to post it, in the meantime the band gave the ep to Moshpit Tragedy, so there will not be any link, go to M-T for it

Third World Planet-From Isolation to desolation 7"

Third World Planet was a powerviolence duet from British Columbia, Canada. There is a punk/experimental band with same name from Czech Republic, there is not any relation between the bands, in fact the the only common is the experimental fields that both bands walked to.
TWP was the music vehicle of Eric Boros (guit noise) and Jason Flower (percussion) plus some guests, they started in 1995 and ended up around 1999, they released several ep's,splits, flexi's, tapes and their final release was the "Old white men-discography" lp,(check this page, its Eric's (and TWP) discog, he was involved in numerous projects). Jason is behind a Retsepti anthology cd(thanks Whispy, could you add some more infos about this band?)
From Isolation to desolation 7" was released in 1997 by Thought Crime Records, 1000 copies were made, it comes in gate fold cover, lyrics included. It delivers six tracks of approximately nine minutes running time and music wise this is a blending of pissed off powerviolence with some industrial elements plus some crust/grindcore/ moments here and there. There are intense distorted vocals, many breaks and beat changes from hyper blasting to slower. In one word:Insane.
There's nothing else to say, this is long out of print from Thought Crime, dig it in distros around the globe

System Shit-Kill that fucker 7"

If you have followed the links in the previous post and checked the murder of Alex and the riots in Greek cities then you know why System Shit are two words that clearly describe the situation here: A piece of crap authority sinking into its own corruption and greed and waving the armed hand against society threating those who dare to raise their voice against injustice.
There was a broadcast on tv yesterday about Michael Kaltezas who was shot by the police in 1985. The story is the same, Michael was shot in the back and he was only 15 years old. Riots and conflict followed his death and many protestors were arrested.Melistas the murdered never got in jail.
Alex was only 15 too, his murder started a social revolt bringing to surface the indignation of a generation with no future, doomed in poverty, unemployment, alienated in a shitty way of life in exploitation, oppression and disgust for the injustice for a kid who was murdered and the disgust for a government that cover ups the endless scandals and straggles the lower classes
Right now there are protestors in jail, some of them face heavy charges, government, nights in Athens are still riotous, police and Justice system are going to cover up the murder once again. A celebrity lawyer is the defense of the murderer, media focus all the time in the damages of the stores (yes, money value more than a human life) talking about blind violence (who the blind here?) and the same time ignore the videos that prove the way police acts . As conclusion, the government hopes everything will calm down: "hey, its (capitalistic) Christmas time, lets have fun! nothing bad happened! Consume! the protection of Christmas tree of Athens is #1 priority....
This is the system shit...i could rant more and more but i hope you have already understood what going on here..check the links for more

"Kill that fucker" delivers ten tracks and was released by Tobacco Shit Records, not quite sure about the year, i think it was 1995. System Shit formed in late 80's in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. They started as a noise-joke band, they recorded several demos and according to DRock (vox, bass) the tracks of "Kill that fucker" come from a demo. They have released four ep's (we have posted "Hell-o") and splits w/ Bloody Phoenix and Clustefux

Born Dead Icons-Part of something larger than ourselves

Born Dead Icons is(was?) the perfect hybrid of D-beat, Motorhead and Amebix. They formed in Montreal, Canada in late 90's including members of Warfare State
They were active around 200-2004, their discography is three lp's ("Work" lp, 2000,Dead Alive Records),"Salvation on the Knees, 2002,Partners in Crime Records, "Ruins" lp (2003,Feral Ward Records), three ep's ("Parrt of...", "Modern Plague" 2001,Feral Ward Records/The Great American Steak Religion and "Unlearn", 2003,Heart First Records), one 10" ("New Scream Industry" 2001,Stonehenge Records) and a split 7" w Coma (2004,Busted Heads Records). There is also a demo tape from 1999. Trujaca Fala put out tape versions of some of BDI records
Does anyone know if these guys are still around? all i know is some members are now in a band called Complications

"Part of Something Larger Than Ourselves" 7" (Deranged Records) is the long out of print debut vinyl of BDI. it was recorded on September of 1999, 2500 copies were made, 2000 on black vinyl,400 on red(i got a red one here) and 100 on clear vinyl. Black n white artwork, the cover unfolds into three parts/pages including the lyrics and no any additional info about the band or the record (weird...) and to coin Whispy, "in typical crust fashion" the tracks are printed in different/wrong row on vinyl label...
And as for the music, the four tracks and 8:38" of crust time is a raw version of the later BDI:A melting pot of d-beat riffs enriched with Motorhead and Amebix influences. Cool enough to listen again and again
Tracks:
1:Entraped
2:Idle will
3:Monuments
4:Coverage

System Shit-Hell-o 7"

Oooook now! Lets go to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and meet some dudes carring a long time story : System Shit was formed as a no political correct and joke noise-core band back in 1988. And by saying no political correct i mean something like the Sore Throat "we do't care" attitude: Political anti-racist, anti-homophobic stance and thats clear if you listen to their early days stuff, They sound like a drunk Sore Throat version. (check the Noise-core demo from 1988)
Anyway, the band evolved thru the years to what is today: A fast hardcore/crust band. System Shit have recorded 12 demos and released 3 7"s: "Hell-o", a split with Bloody Phoenix and "Kill that fucker"(actually this was a late-80's demo recording that was released as 7" much latter), they have also a split 12" with Human Error from Hungary and a split cd with A.S.B.(Another Shitty Band). A 7" split with Clusterfux out soon in a couple of weeks
Hell-o begins with a phone call song (a kind of conversation between a "normal guy" and a crazed grinder), the rest stuff is crust edged hardcore with fast rhythms, catchy riffs, shouting vocals, descent production and there is an old school feeling in the atmosphere, Good stuff.. But when you try to play the other side, things are different: Screaming and distorted vocals take over and give a different feeling, for a moment i thought it was another band, great idea to make each side different! The whole stuff was recorded on a 4-trax but the sound production is good, ah i almost forgot it: They cover Rock you like a hurricane in a crazy cider version!! Released in 2002 on Undisslessed / Skud Records, many thanx to Drock Liverotchee for his help on details and infos about the band,

Black Kronstadt-A world to win 7"

Black Kronstadt were from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, formed in 1992 and broke up in 1997. They released two ep's ("Crimes of capital, crimes of the state" and "A world to win") and a full length ("Free spirit"). They started as a raw Anarcho-hardcore band in the vein of Discharge, Chaos UK and the likes with strong political stance and lyrics but in this 7" their sound is crunchy, heavier and more in the crust fields, when BK called a day members formed Iskra and developed what started in this record by adding more black metal elements and became known as Blackened Crust: A powerful blending of anarchist lyrics with black metal direction in music with noodley guitars and hoarse screamed shouting. In A World to Win Black Kronstadt made the step into crust/black metal fields and left behind the anarchopunk direction of Crimes of Capital, some hints of the past appear (Antifa) and sometimes they are more crustie. There are three tracks of under-produced noisy and sometimes chaotic crust with political lyrics and screamed shouting vocals: Last supper delivers heavy midpaced crust, All cyst΄ms down has some catchy moments while Antifa is more punky and reminds their previous ep. As conclusion the record stands between Crimes of Capital and Crust genre, the cover folds out into three parts with lyrics and texts about Mumia Abu-Jamal, NAFTA,GATT and the global capitalistic greed. A small sized eight page booklet with poetry was included. Released on Consensus Reality, 1995
