Gamaliel III
Gamaliel III (Hebrew: רבן גמליאל ברבי, read as Rabban Gamaliel beRabbi, that is: son of the Rabbi, as his father was referred to as Rabbeinu HaKadosh or Rebbi). His father, Judah the Prince (Hebrew: Yehudah HaNasi; also referred to as Judah I) appointed him his successor as nasi. He lived in the 3rd century CE. Little certain is known about his activities, but it is likely that the revision of the Mishnah was completed during his era.

Gamaliel
Gamaliel the Elder (/ɡəˈmeɪljəl/; also spelled Gamliel; Hebrew: רבן גמליאל הזקן; Greek: Γαμαλιὴλ ὁ Πρεσβύτερος) or Rabban Gamaliel I, was a leading authority in the Sanhedrin in the early 1st century CE. He was the son of Simeon ben Hillel, and grandson of the great Jewish teacher Hillel the Elder, and died twenty years before the destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem (70 CE). He fathered a son, whom he called Simeon, after his father, and a daughter, who married a priest named Simon ben Nathanael. In Christian tradition, he is said to have converted to Christianity and is venerated as a Saint along with his second son, Abibo (also Abibas, Abibus). Jewish sources do not record a conversion to Christianity.
In the Christian tradition, Gamaliel is recognized as a Pharisee doctor of Jewish Law. The Acts of the Apostles chapter 5 speaks of Gamaliel as a man of great honor by all Jews who spoke to not condemn the apostles of Jesus in Acts 5:34, to death and the Jewish law teacher of Paul the Apostle in Acts 22:3.

Gamaliel (Qliphah)
Gamaliel is the Qliphah associated with the Sephirah Yesod on the kabbalistic Tree of Life. It translates as 'The Obscene Ones'.
Function
Yesod is the Sephirah that collects all the energy from the Sephiroth above it, stores these archetypal ideas in the unconscious, and expresses them in their correct time. It is associated with the sexual organs, and unconscious sexual desire. It can be seen that without the correct expression of the images stored in Yesod, either through physical expression in Malkuth, or by transcending them in Tiphereth, an unhealthy sexual repression exists. The unconscious imagery in Yesod therefore becomes more and more perverse, eventually becoming Gamaliel, the obscene.

Gamaliél sendiri mengaku senang dapat kolaborasi dengan Young Lex walau belum lama berkenalan. Baginya, Young Lex adalah penyanyi muda berbakat yang memiliki visi bagi karir bermusiknya. “Gue seneng banget kerjasama bareng Young Lex. Pribadi muda dan produktif dalam berkarya”, ucap Gamaliél.
Lagu yang ber-genre hip hop ini diciptakan langsung oleh Young Lex dan Gamaliél. Untuk musik di lagu ini digarap oleh Tatsuro Miler, Music Producer dan DJ asal Malaysia. Bukan hanya berkolaborasi dalam menyanyikan lagu, kedua musisi berbeda aliran musik ini juga berkolaborasi dalam menciptakan lirik lagu. "Lagu ini menceritakan tentang sebuah kehidupan yang butuh banget bermimpi, boleh banget kejar target, boleh mengejar mimpi, cuma kalau udah mentok nggak bisa jangan dipaksain, slow dulu," ujar Gamaliél.
“Ini Gamaliél banget vokalnya, maka lagunya ini lebih berwarna dari lagu-lagu gue sebelumnya. Dari segi komposisi lagu sih sama banyaknya. Gue bikin, dia bikin, terus kita cocokin. Terus ada part dimana gue bantuin part-nya Gamal. Gamal juga gitu, bantuin part-nya gue. Bagian yang dinyanyikan juga sama”, tambah Young Lex.

Young Lex menggandeng salah seorang personel grup musik GAC, Gamaliél, di single terbarunya yang berjudul “Slow”. “Gue ajak Gamal, karena kita satu karakter, sama-sama suka R&B; dan Hip Hop dan background-nya kita sama-sama laki-laki Ambon. Gue suka karena semua karya yang dia ciptakan kedengeran fresh banget, makanya gue ajak Gamal di lagu ini”, jelas Young Lex tentang kolaborasinya bersama Gamaliél.
Gamaliél sendiri mengaku senang dapat kolaborasi dengan Young Lex walau belum lama berkenalan. Baginya, Young Lex adalah penyanyi muda berbakat yang memiliki visi bagi karir bermusiknya. “Gue seneng banget kerjasama bareng Young Lex. Pribadi muda dan produktif dalam berkarya”, ucap Gamaliél.
Lagu yang ber-genre hip hop ini diciptakan langsung oleh Young Lex dan Gamaliél. Untuk musik di lagu ini digarap oleh Tatsuro Miler, Music Producer dan DJ asal Malaysia. Bukan hanya berkolaborasi dalam menyanyikan lagu, kedua musisi berbeda aliran musik ini juga berkolaborasi dalam menciptakan lirik lagu. "Lagu ini menceritakan tentang sebuah kehidupan yang butuh banget bermimpi, boleh banget kejar target, boleh mengejar mimpi, cuma kalau udah mentok nggak bisa jangan dipaksain, slow dulu," ujar Gamaliél.
“Ini Gamaliél banget vokalnya, maka lagunya ini lebih berwarna dari lagu-lagu gue sebelumnya. Dari segi komposisi lagu sih sama banyaknya. Gue bikin, dia bikin, terus kita cocokin. Terus ada part dimana gue bantuin part-nya Gamal. Gamal juga gitu, bantuin part-nya gue. Bagian yang dinyanyikan juga sama”, tambah Young Lex.

The name Gamaliel is not an unfamiliar name among Christians. The Book of Acts claim that Paul was a student of this great teacher of the Jewish Law.
Rabbi Gamaliel also known as Gamaliel the Elder, was a leading authority in the Sanhedrin during the first century CE. He was the grandson of the great Jewish teacher Rabbi Hillel the Elder, through his son, Simeon ben Hillel. In the Talmud, Gamaliel is recorded as a Nasi or prince and a Rabban or our master. He once held the position of the President of the Great Sanhedrin in Jerusalem. He was extremely revered as the greatest teachers being spoken about in the Mishnah, "Since Rabban Gamaliel the Elder died, there is been no more reverence for the law, and purity and piety died out at the same time." (Sotah 9:15)
Rabbi Tovia Singer explains how it would have been inconceivable for a man claimed as coming from Tarsus, to be a student of such a great a holy man in Jewish history.

Correction: At about minute 1:30 and following, I incorrectly state that Annas was a much more popular name than Ananias. In fact, Ananias was more popular than Annas. Both were in the top twelve names (Annas is number 12 in Bauckham's Table 6), so Annas is still a Tier B name. Both are therefore examples of titles attached to relatively popular names that might not be there due to a need for disambiguation. An example of evidential "noise" based on titles used with an unpopular name would be the various titles attached to the name "Herod"--e.g., Herod the tetrarch. My point is that titles are attached to both popular and unpopular names for obvious narrative reasons, so they should not be expected to track popularity even in a wholly historical document.
Now that we've talked about unnecessary clumps, what about more unnecessary disambiguations? Like Jesus of Nazareth and Lazarus of Bethany, these are additional places where there's no reason *within the narrative of a particular book* to give an extra qualifier with a name. Even if it's a popular name, if there's only one person in the book by that name, or if his identity is made amply clear by context, there's no need to add another qualifier.
First of all I discuss evidential "noise," where the information in question would likely be given regardless of whether the name was popular or unpopular. This applies for example to titles like "the high priest" that are important to the story. It also applies to obviously interesting pieces of information like the fact that Manaean was brought up with Herod or the fact that Andrew was Simon Peter's brother.
Using fairly stringent standards for "unnecessary," so as to filter out such "noise," I come up with eight narratively unnecessarily qualified names in the Gospels and Acts.
In two cases we do have narratively unnecessary qualifiers for not-very-popular names: Levi son of Alphaeus and Nathanael of Cana. These may just be included as examples of unnecessary details more generally.
But in six out of the eight (3/4), the first names are either Tier A or Tier B popular names, based on Bauckham's Table 6 of name popularity. (I designate Tier A as place 1-9, Tier B as place 10-12, and Tier C as anything lower.)

Christian convert from Judaism. He is also known as Count Joseph and is venerated as Saint Joseph of Palestine. His memorial day is 22 July.
The main source about his life is a book by Epiphanius, the Panarion, which in chapter 30 retells the stories Epiphanius heard from Joseph during their encounter in Scythopolis around the year 355. According to Epiphanius, Joseph was a contemporary of Emperor Constantine, a Rabbinical scholar, member of the Sanhedrin and a disciple of Hillel II. Following his conversion, Emperor Constantine gave him the rank of count (comes), appointed him as supervisor of the churches in Palestine and gave him permission to build churches in the Galilee. Specifically, Joseph wished to build churches in Jewish towns which didn't yet have a Christian community. One of the churches attributed to him was the first Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish at Heptapegon, erected around AD 350. Despite his high position, he opposed the Arian policies of Constantine's successors, and got married after his first wife died in order to evade Arian pressure to become a bishop for that sect.

Young Lex menggandeng salah seorang personel grup musik GAC, Gamaliél, di single terbarunya yang berjudul “Slow”. “Gue ajak Gamal, karena kita satu karakter, sama-sama suka R&B; dan Hip Hop dan background-nya kita sama-sama laki-laki Ambon. Gue suka karena semua karya yang dia ciptakan kedengeran fresh banget, makanya gue ajak Gamal di lagu ini”, jelas Young Lex tentang kolaborasinya bersama Gamaliél.
Gamaliél sendiri mengaku senang dapat kolaborasi dengan Young Lex walau belum lama berkenalan. Baginya, Young Lex adalah penyanyi muda berbakat yang memiliki visi bagi karir bermusiknya. “Gue seneng banget kerjasama bareng Young Lex. Pribadi muda dan produktif dalam berkarya”, ucap Gamaliél.
Lagu yang ber-genre hip hop ini diciptakan langsung oleh Young Lex dan Gamaliél. Untuk musik di lagu ini digarap oleh Tatsuro Miler, Music Producer dan DJ asal Malaysia. Bukan hanya berkolaborasi dalam menyanyikan lagu, kedua musisi berbeda aliran musik ini juga berkolaborasi dalam menciptakan lirik lagu. "Lagu ini menceritakan tentang sebuah kehidupan yang butuh banget bermimpi, boleh banget kejar target, boleh mengejar mimpi, cuma kalau udah mentok nggak bisa jangan dipaksain, slow dulu," ujar Gamaliél.
“Ini Gamaliél banget vokalnya, maka lagunya ini lebih berwarna dari lagu-lagu gue sebelumnya. Dari segi komposisi lagu sih sama banyaknya. Gue bikin, dia bikin, terus kita cocokin. Terus ada part dimana gue bantuin part-nya Gamal. Gamal juga gitu, bantuin part-nya gue. Bagian yang dinyanyikan juga sama”, tambah Young Lex.

The name Gamaliel is not an unfamiliar name among Christians. The Book of Acts claim that Paul was a student of this great teacher of the Jewish Law.
Rabbi Gamaliel also known as Gamaliel the Elder, was a leading authority in the Sanhedrin during the first century CE. He was the grandson of the great Jewish teacher Rabbi Hillel the Elder, through his son, Simeon ben Hillel. In the Talmud, Gamaliel is recorded as a Nasi or prince and a Rabban or our master. He once held the position of the President of the Great Sanhedrin in Jerusalem. He was extremely revered as the greatest teachers being spoken about in the Mishnah, "Since Rabban Gamaliel the Elder died, there is been no more reverence for the law, and purity and piety died out at the same time." (Sotah 9:15)
Rabbi Tovia Singer explains how it would have been inconceivable for a man claimed as coming from Tarsus, to be a student of such a great a holy man in Jewish history.

Gamaliel III (Hebrew: רבן גמליאל ברבי, read as Rabban Gamaliel beRabbi, that is: son of the Rabbi, as his father was referred to as Rabbeinu HaKadosh or Rebbi). His father, Judah the Prince (Hebrew: Yehudah HaNasi; also referred to as Judah I) appointed him his successor as nasi. He lived in the 3rd century CE. Correction: At about minute 1:30 and following, I incorrectly state that Annas was a much more popular name than Ananias. In fact, Ananias was more popular than Annas. Both were in the top twelve names (Annas is number 12 in Bauckham's Table 6), so Annas is still a Tier B name. Both are therefore examples of titles attached to relatively popular names that might not be there due to a need for disambiguation. An example of evidential "noise" based on titles used with an unpopular name would be the various titles attached to the name "Herod"--e.g., Herod the tetrarch. My point is that titles are attached to both popular and unpopular names for obvious narrative reasons, so they should not be expected to track popularity even in a wholly historical document.
Now that we've talked about unnecessary clumps, what about more unnecessary disambiguations? Like Jesus of Nazareth and Lazarus of Bethany, these are additional places where there's no reason *within the narrative of a particular book* to give an extra qualifier with a name. Even if it's a popular name, if there's only one person in the book by that name, or if his identity is made amply clear by context, there's no need to add another qualifier.
First of all I discuss evidential "noise," where the information in question would likely be given regardless of whether the name was popular or unpopular. This applies for example to titles like "the high priest" that are important to the story. It also applies to obviously interesting pieces of information like the fact that Manaean was brought up with Herod or the fact that Andrew was Simon Peter's brother.
Using fairly stringent standards for "unnecessary," so as to filter out such "noise," I come up with eight narratively unnecessarily qualified names in the Gospels and Acts.
In two cases we do have narratively unnecessary qualifiers for not-very-popular names: Levi son of Alphaeus and Nathanael of Cana. These may just be included as examples of unnecessary details more generally.
But in six out of the eight (3/4), the first names are either Tier A or Tier B popular names, based on Bauckham's Table 6 of name popularity. (I designate Tier A as place 1-9, Tier B as place 10-12, and Tier C as anything lower.)

James the Less
Judas the Galilean (in Gamaliel's speech in Acts)

Christian convert from Judaism. He is also known as Count Joseph and is venerated as Saint Joseph of Palestine. His memorial day is 22 July.
The main source about his life is a book by Epiphanius, the Panarion, which in chapter 30 retells the stories Epiphanius heard from Joseph during their encounter in Scythopolis around the year 355. According to Epiphanius, Joseph was a contemporary of Emperor Constantine, a Rabbinical scholar, member of the Sanhedrin and a disciple of Hillel II. Following his conversion, Emperor Constantine gave him the rank of count (comes), appointed him as supervisor of the churches in Palestine and gave him permission to build churches in the Galilee. Specifically, Joseph wished to build churches in Jewish towns which didn't yet have a Christian community. One of the churches attributed to him was the first Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fish at Heptapegon, erected around AD 350. Despite his high position, he opposed the Arian policies of Constantine's successors, and got married after his first wife died in order to evade Arian pressure to become a bishop for that sect.
