THE Border’s writer guru Peter Batson gives the low-down on this week’s radio highlights.

BREAKFAST WITH DON PLENTY

6AM TO 9AM WEEKDAYS

2AY2

2AY.COM.AU

Tune into the silky tones of brekkie announcer Don Plenty on 2AY2, Albury-Wodonga’s newest radio station. 1494 2AY’s six-week-old, online-only sister station is gradually building an appreciative audience with its “easy listening favourites from yesterday and today”. Think Katy Perry, Spandau Ballet, Adele, Burdon and the Animals, the Beach Boys and (gulp!) Barry Manilow plus national and local news and information. Born and raised in Victoria, Plenty has worked on radio in Port Augusta and Adelaide with a decade-long stint in Dubai. The experienced Horsham-based Ace Radio host has a passion for music and the Hawthorn Football Club. Speaking of football, if you’re not into 2AY’s weekend aerial ping-pong commentary, 2AY2 provides a welcome choice for those (particularly over-35s) with a yen for non-head-banging music. And when digital radio eventually arrives on the Border, 2AY2 will, no doubt, be one of the first digital stations to hit the digital airwaves. Meanwhile, tune in at 2ay.com.au.
