When the wife of Mohan Kumar, an upcoming politician is found dead the suspicion falls on him. Investigation of police rules it as suicide. But Mohan's father in law asks for an investigation to know the truth about what happened to his daughter by Detective Shyam Prasad, a man reputed to solve all cases handed out to him. But there is some friction between Shyam and Mohan as their father had an affair with Mohan's mother and caused the family to shatter. But during the investigation he finds out that this was a murder well executed by a smart and dangerous criminal

Gopal and Sharda are a Goa-based loving couple with two daughters: Mala and Geeta; and a son, Sushil. They are not very well off and this prompts Gopal to seek employment overseas. He travels by boat and it sinks in a storm, and there are no known survivors. Sharda, destitute and on the verge of starvation, decides to marry wealthy Vijay. Gopal does survive, but loses his memory, and is unable to remember his past life. Then, years later with the children now grown up, Gopal recovers, and returns to Gao, but does not want to interfere with his family's new found wealth and well-being. Vijay finds out about Gopal, feels threatened, and decides to get rid of him so that no one can come between him and his acquired family.

The poor but educated Mahim and his childhood friend, the rich but conservative Suresh, both fall in love with the same woman, the liberated Achala. Mahim marries her and they move to a village but she cannot forget Suresh. Her smouldering unhappiness takes the form of a resentment towards the orphaned Mrinal, raised by Mahim's father, and receives a dramatically visual embodiment when their house burns down. Mahim falls ill, is rescued by Suresh and nursed back to health by Achala. On a train (a metaphor for the irreversibly linear course of life) to a health-resort where Mahim is supposed to convalesce, Suresh on a rainswept night gives in to temptation and elopes with Achala. At the end of the film, there is a dubious reconciliation as Achala is shown following Mahim's 'good' traditionalism with Saratchandra's barely concealed hostility towards Achala's liberated Brhamo Samaj upbringing.

The word gaņa when associated with Ganesha is often taken to refer to the gaņas, a troop of semi-divine beings that form part of the retinue of Shiva (IAST: Śiva). Ganesha is Vighneshvara or Vighnaraja, the Lord of Obstacles, both of a material and spiritual order. He is popularly worshipped as a remover of obstacles, though traditionally he also places obstacles in the path of those who need to be checked According to Kundalini yoga, Ganesha resides in the first chakra, called Muladhara (mūlādhāra). Mula means "original, main"; adhara means "base, foundation". The muladhara chakra is the principle on which the manifestation or outward expansion of primordial Divine Force rests. Ganapataye = Another name of Ganesh, the breaker of obstacles. Namaha = Yo! Ganesh! You da God! The pronunciation is also pretty easy: Om = ohm or aum Gam = Somewhere between "gahm" and "gum". In some dialects it is "guhng". Ganapataye = gah-nah-paht-ah-yeh Namaha = nah-mah-hah aum + gahm + gah-nah-paht-ah-yeh + nah-mah-hah ! Om gam ganapataye namaha! O Lord Ganapati! It usually signifies the end of the ritual and most times comes right before the Shantipath (prayer of peace and well being) is said. One would take a thalia (sacred prayer tray) and place in the centre or close to the end of the thalia a lit deya or lit piece of camphor. The thalia may contain a number of additional items such as flowers, sweets, incense and any other offerings (post havan) to be made to Ganesh. The thalia is then, with the flame facing Ganesh's image, waved in a clockwise motion whilst the Aarti itself is being chanted. After this is done the flame is usually passed around to all who attended the puja to receive its blessings. Aarti literally means to wave a sacred flame before an image of Bhagavan. The word gaņa when associated with Ganesha is often taken to refer to the gaņas, a troop of semi-divine beings that form part of the retinue of Shiva (IAST: Śiva). Ganesha is Vighneshvara or Vighnaraja, the Lord of Obstacles, both of a material and spiritual order. He is popularly worshipped as a remover of obstacles, though traditionally he also places obstacles in the path of those who need to be checked According to Kundalini yoga, Ganesha resides in the first chakra, called Muladhara (mūlādhāra). Mula means "original, main"; adhara means "base, foundation". The muladhara chakra is the principle on which the manifestation or outward expansion of primordial Divine Force rests. Ganapataye = Another name of Ganesh, the breaker of obstacles. Namaha = Yo! Ganesh! You da God! The pronunciation is also pretty easy: Om = ohm or aum Gam = Somewhere between "gahm" and "gum". In some dialects it is "guhng". Ganapataye = gah-nah-paht-ah-yeh Namaha = nah-mah-hah aum + gahm + gah-nah-paht-ah-yeh + nah-mah-hah ! Om gam ganapataye namaha! O Lord Ganapati! It usually signifies the end of the ritual and most times comes right before the Shantipath (prayer of peace and well being) is said. One would take a thalia (sacred prayer tray) and place in the centre or close to the end of the thalia a lit deya or lit piece of camphor. The thalia may contain a number of additional items such as flowers, sweets, incense and any other offerings (post havan) to be made to Ganesh. The thalia is then, with the flame facing Ganesh's image, waved in a clockwise motion whilst the Aarti itself is being chanted. After this is done the flame is usually passed around to all who attended the puja to receive its blessings. Aarti literally means to wave a sacred flame before an image of Bhagavan.
