A domesticated elephant, obedient and docile for years, goes on a rampage one day and kills people, including its mahout. A pet dog, for no reason at all, suddenly savages a child. A cow chewing cud in the middle of a busy road, suddenly chases down and gores people ... Actually, most animals don’t really behave like “animals” — we do ... Back there in jungleland, few animals have mental issues or feel the need to see a psychiatrist ... ....

Called “speculative tickets,” the sellers are offering people a sort-of IOU for a seat. I finally hit the jackpot -- Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run" segued into his "Jungleland." ... "Jungleland" was playing and it was at the point of the late, great, Clarence Clemons' wonderful saxophone solo ... As Bruce wailed the last notes of "Jungleland" for the second time, she stood up and asked me if he was Greek, because of the quality of his voice and lyrics ... especially Jungleland, I stop and relive those fragile memories....
