David Freiberg (born August 24, 1938) is an American musician. He has contributed vocals, keyboards, bass guitar, guitar, viola and percussion to Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship.
Freiberg began his career as a coffee house folk musician. For a while he shared a house in Venice, California, with other future folk-rockers David Crosby and Paul Kantner. In the mid-1960s, Freiberg founded Quicksilver Messenger Service with John Cipollina.
In 1972 Freiberg joined Jefferson Airplane for the tour that promoted their final studio LP, Long John Silver and appeared on their final live album Thirty Seconds Over Winterland. The remnants of the band eventually evolved into Jefferson Starship, and Freiberg remained with this group until 1984 when he quit the group following the departure of Paul Kantner.
After a two decade hiatus, Freiberg rejoined Kantner in Jefferson Starship for their 2005 tour, which was billed as "The Jefferson Family Galactic Reunion", and as of 2010 has officially rejoined the group and appears on the 2008 release Jefferson's Tree of Liberty which is the first Jefferson Starship release to feature Freiberg since 1984's Nuclear Furniture.
David (/ˈdeɪvɪd/; Hebrew: דָּוִד, Modern David, Tiberian Dāwîḏ;ISO 259-3 Dawid; Arabic: داوُد Dāwūd; Syriac: ܕܘܝܕ Dawid; Ancient Greek: Δαυίδ; Latin: Davidus, David; Strong's: Daveed) was, according to the Books of Samuel, the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel, and according to the New Testament, an ancestor of Jesus. His life is conventionally dated to c. 1040 – 970 BCE, his reign over Judah c. 1010–970 BCE.
The Books of Samuel, 1 Kings, and 1 Chronicles are the only Old Testament sources of information on David, although the Tel Dan Stele (dated c. 850–835 BCE) contains the phrase בית דוד (bytdwd), read as "House of David", which many scholars confirm to be a likely plausible match to the existence in the mid-9th century BCE of a Judean royal dynasty called the House of David.
Depicted as a valorous warrior of great renown, and a poet and musician credited for composing much of the psalms contained in the Book of Psalms, King David is widely viewed as a righteous and effective king in battle and civil justice. He is described as a man after God's own heart in 1 Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22.
Paul Lorin Kantner (March 17, 1941 – January 28, 2016) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter, known for co-founding Jefferson Airplane, a leading psychedelic rock band of the counterculture era, and its more commercial spin-off band Jefferson Starship. He was born in San Francisco, California.
Formed in 1965 when he and Marty Balin met, Kantner eventually became the leader of Jefferson Airplane and led the group through its highly successful late 1960s period. In 1970, while still active with Jefferson Airplane, Kantner and several Bay Area musicians recorded a one-off side project under the name "Paul Kantner and the Jefferson Starship."
Jefferson Airplane continued to record and perform until 1972. When the band officially broke up, Kantner revived the Jefferson Starship name and continued to record and perform with that band for the next five decades. Kantner had the longest continuous membership with the band; at times he was the only founding member still in the band from the original Jefferson Airplane lineup, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with other band members in 1996.
Jefferson Starship is an American rock band formed in the early 1970s by several members of the former psychedelic rock group Jefferson Airplane. The band has undergone several major changes in personnel and genres through the years while retaining the same Jefferson Starship name. The current Jefferson Starship, led by co-founder Paul Kantner until his 2016 death, more closely resembled its original mix of psychedelic and electric folk music than the pop-driven tunes it was widely known for in the early to mid-1980s. It is not to be confused with Starship, a spin-off of the group featuring former co-lead singer Mickey Thomas that also periodically tours.
During the transitional period of the early 1970s, when Jefferson Airplane was in the process of disbanding, singer-guitarist Paul Kantner recorded Blows Against the Empire. This was a concept album featuring an ad hoc group of musicians (centered on Kantner, Grace Slick, Joey Covington, and Jack Casady of Jefferson Airplane; Crosby & Nash; and members of Grateful Dead and Santana) credited on the LP as "Paul Kantner/Jefferson Starship", marking the first use of that name. This agglomeration was informally known as the Planet Earth Rock and Roll Orchestra, a moniker later used on a Kantner album in the early 1980s.
Grace Barnett Slick (née Wing; born October 30, 1939) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, artist and former model, widely known as the first female diva in rock and roll history and a searing voice in the mid-1960's San Francisco psychedelic renaissance. Her iconic career spanned all or parts of four decades, most notably with the ground-breaking Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship and Starship band. She started with The Great Society and also had stints as a solo performer.
Grace Barnett Wing was born October 30, 1939, in Highland Park, Illinois, to Ivan W. Wing (1907–1987), of Norwegian and Swedish descent, and Virginia (née Barnett; 1910-1984), a lineal descendant of passengers of the Mayflower. In 1949 her brother Chris was born. Her father, working in the investment banking sector for Weeden and Company, was transferred several times when she was a child and, in addition to the Chicago area, she lived in Los Angeles and San Francisco, before her family finally settled in Palo Alto, California, south of San Francisco, in the early 1950s.

Album: Baron Von Tollbooth And The Chrome Nun 1973 US Psycho-Prog Baron von Tollbooth & The Chrome Nun was the first album made by these erstwhile members of Jefferson Airplane since the breakup of that group. David Nellessen from the Freiberg Software iGEM 2009 gave me a demo of their hot new google wave robot for synthetic biology, SynBioWave. To try the robot out, add SynBioWave@appspot.com to a googlewave. "Synthetic Biology, which aims at constructing whole new genomes, is pushed forward by many users and relies on the assembly of genetic elements to devices and later systems. The construction process needs to be transparent and even at final stages control at the basepair level is required. We are building a software environment enabling multiple distributed users to analyze and construct genetic parts and ultimately genomes with real-time communication. Our current version demonstrates the principle use as well as the power of the underlying Google Wave protocol for collaborative synthe...
