Image & Sound

Image and Sound Collections held by the IISH include some 250.000 photographs and 120.000 posters - one of the largest collections of posters in the Netherlands. The Institute stores several hundred banners from the labour movement. In adddition, the collections include a considerable amount of films and videos, several thousand sound tapes and gramophone records. Check the menu for more information on specific materials.

Access

The Image and Sound collections are accessible through the IISH catalogue and can be searched by organization, date, location or subject. There is a subject index in the thesaurus (see below). The catalogue shows digitized copies (low resolution scans only) of visual documents. In most cases it is possible to order reproductions, borrow materials for exhibitions or view the originals in the Reading Room. For rates, conditions and facilities, please go to Services.
