Mother Jones is running a fascinating feature on drone pilots. The piece focuses on the low level discontent of drone operators, in a way that (I think) reinforces an argument I made in a long essay for Counterpunch about drones and automatons. That seems sufficient excuse to republish the piece here.
‘Before they were blind, deaf and dumb,’ exults Mark Maybury, chief scientist for the U.S. Air Force. ‘Now we’re beginning to make them to see, hear and sense.’
We know that rhetoric.
