What a funny old day? It hasn't stopped raining since yesterday, or was it the day before? Actually, I like it. I like the drops of rain falling from the branches of the trees. I like the way if makes all the colours of the garden so rich and intense.  I like the feeling of everything being wet, glistening and shinny. I like the moisture in the air. I like standing under the veranda and watching it fall, as I stay nice and dry. I like the sound of it on the roof, the finger-like strumming of the raindrops against the house.

I like the rain.

Lots of discussion over the last couple of days about the recently released annual surveillance report for HIV, which shows a big jump in the number of HIV notifications for the last year, especially in NSW. Obviously any rise in HIV is concerning and I’ll leave it to the experts to debate the likely causes of that rise, but as I have previously argued, a seemingly important measure of the infection rate remains unreported.

Three years ago, I argued that HIV infections aren’t going up, they’re going down – if you consider that the number of new infections must be a function of the number of people living with HIV, the picture over

My grandmother taught us that we needed to be very careful with electricity. It was dangerous. She unintentionally demonstrated the danger to us by putting a knife into the toaster to remove some stuck bread. The knife flew across across the room and took out a chip of plaster from the wall.

She was very careful to always turn power points off before removing the plug and of course a switch should never be left on if nothing was plugged in.

"Why Grandma?"

"The electricity will leak out."

While logic tells me this is not so and for me it is probably more about aesthetics, I can't help but think at times of the electricity slowly oozing from the power point, invisibly charging everything around, including me, with unused electricity.

So should I visit you, don't think I am too odd if I behave strangely near the power points on your walls. I will only be turning unused points off.

My time on Arion has been full of contrasts, Vagabond Sailor and City Boy, sun and storm, rock and sand, beach and mountain, civilization and wild, calm and rough, high and low. Graham the wise old sailor says that contrast is…

Well it's been some time since I've posted here. Pretty much back into the same routine of things with work. No real career progression, I feel it's probably because I've been uninspired/lazy. Alas life does go on. I recently made some reforms coinciding with the election of a new government.

I was interstate for an educational program and upon my return I decided to draw a line in the sand. It was finally time to ditch the online dating world and all the that it didn't have to offer. So I got home and deleted Grindr, Jack'd, Manhunt, Match, RVSP, Adam4Adam etc etc. Who knew there were so many? I guess I've learnt over the years that there are D-bags on any and all of those sites and the ones that don't ...

Today was a big day in Australia. The territory that holds our National Capital, The Australian Capital Territory just passed a Same Sex Marriage Bill through Parliament. As of today, Australia has one region where gay marriage is legal. The terrible part of this is that our ridiculously conservative new Prime Minister has said, before the bill was even presented, that he will try to over turn it in the High Court of Australia saying it isn’t constitutional. The people who tabled the bill have worked hard and changed the wording recently to try and make sure that it survives such a challenge.

When we hear that Tony Abbott is going to challenge peoples rights like this and actively remove people’s right to marry, marriages will be annulled if he succeeds, it

A friend who was at Burning Man with me finally sent me the video that he took of me on the Bucking Duck at the Duck Pond. I’m still mastering how to make gifs of a manageable size. Be patient, this will load. I promise. It is unusual for me to be so bold as to be the centre of attention when nude like I was at the time I was on the duck but I figured who the hell cares? It was so much fun. The whole day was fun, riding through the desert nude from camp to camp having drinks with friends.
