Ken Friedman, (born September 19, 1949 in New London, Connecticut) is a seminal figure in Fluxus, an international laboratory for experimental art, architecture, design, literature, and music. He had his first solo exhibition in New York in 1966. He has also been involved with mail art, and he has written extensively about Fluxus and Intermedia. Friedman has edited several Fluxus publications and has been widely published in peer-reviewed academic journals as well as in popular and small press publications. He has worked closely with other Fluxus artists and composers such as George Maciunas, Dick Higgins, and Nam June Paik, as well as collaborating with John Cage and Joseph Beuys. He was the general manager of Dick Higgins Something Else Press in the early 1970s.
Friedman studied at Shimer College, a Great Books school then located in Mount Carroll, Illinois, from 1966 to 1967. His first published musical work, "A Fluxus Mandatory Happening", was composed and performed for the first time at Shimer College in May 1966. Friedman later received his Master of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in education, psychology, and social science from San Francisco State University in 1971. He received his doctorate in 1976 from the United States International University. In 2007 Loughborough University in the UK honored Friedman with the degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa, for outstanding contributions to design research.

April Bloomfield, the woman who gave the middle finger to the highbrow/lowbrow food divide and brought gastropubs to New York, gives us a peek into the culinary empire -- the Spotted Pig, the Breslin, and the John Dory Oyster Bar -- that she and her partner Ken Friedman are building. Bloomfield, equal parts badass and softie, takes us to her favorite haunts and lays down her philosophy on cooking and life (in short, don't be a wuss). The night ends in a beautiful blur of pickelbacks and pong at the Breslin. Teacher, scientist, author, intellectual, and winner of the 1976 Nobel Prize in Economics, Milton Friedman was one of the 20th century's greatest proponents of free markets and individual liberty. The Power of Choice tells the story of his life. Overcoming almost universal opposition to his unconventional views, Friedman persevered, until eventually, many of his ideas came to be widely accepted. He lived to see those ideas transform economic theory and practice, inspiring changes that have improved the lives of millions of people worldwide. Through interviews with leading economists and policymakers such as Alan Greenspan and Estonia's Prime Minister, Mart Laar, The Power of Choice explores Friedman's tremendous influence on policy - and daily life - in Estonia, Chile, and the United Sta...

A Fluxus nemzetközi művészcsoport, mely az 1960-as évek elején jött létre. Tevékenységének lényege a művész személyes közreműködésével zajló, időben végbemenő intermediális esztétikai esemény, amely ötvözi a spontán megnyilvánulásokat és a pontosan megtervezett gesztusokat. A célkitűzése a pophoz hasonlóan a művészet és az élet közti határok elmosása, jelszavai: “minden művészet”, “mindenki művész”. “Antiművészetnek”, “neodadának” is szokták tekinteni.
