Khanderi (Khanderi Sea island) is an island with a fort, located south of Mumbai, along the coast of Maharashtra, India.
Khanderi (Official name Kanhoji Angre Island, Old British name Kennery) is located 5 km off the coast of Maharashtra (off Thal, Kihim) and 20 km south of Mumbai. Khanderi, along with its sister fort Underi(Jaidurg) formed the major fortification along the Maharashtra coast, the former falling under Shivaji's control and the latter under his opponents, the Siddis.
The island consists of two high hills, once facing north and the other facing south. Initially, the islands of Underi and Khanderi were uninhabited. In 1679, Khanderi was occupied by the forces of Shivaji, who oversaw the building of the fortication walls. Subsequently, Khanderi fort was built during the reign of the Maratha king Shivaji in 1660 CE to keep a check on the Siddis at Murud-Janjira fort and was the site of many battles between Shivaji's forces and the navy of Sidi. It contained two wells to supply water to the forces within, and a temple of Sri Betal.
The Indian Navy (IN; Hindi: भारतीय नौ सेना (Devanāgarī), Bhāratīya Nau Senā (Latin)) is the naval branch of the armed forces of India. The President of India serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy. The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), usually a four-star officer in the rank of Admiral, commands the navy. The Indian Navy is the fifth largest in the world. It played an important role in India's victory in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War.
The Indian Navy can trace its lineage back to the Honourable East India Company's Marine which was founded in 1612 to protect British merchant shipping in the region. In 1757 the East India Company established its rule over much of the Indian subcontinent, but it wasn't until 1830 that the colonial navy became known as Her Majesty's Indian Navy. In 1858, East India Company rule gave way to the British Raj which lasted until India became independent in 1947. When India became a republic in 1950, the Royal Indian Navy as it had been named since 1934 was renamed to Indian Navy. The 17th-century Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is considered as the 'Father of the Indian Navy'.
INS Khanderi (S22) was a Kalvari class diesel-electric submarine of the Indian Navy.
Khanderi was built at Sudomekh, Admiralty Shipyard and commissioned in the navy in December 1968 and decommissioned from service in 1989. The hull was scrapped, but her fin was preserved at Virbahu parade grounds.
The ship was named for the island of Khanderi.
The Scorpène-class submarines are a class of diesel-electric attack submarines jointly developed by the French DCN and the Spanish company Navantia and now by DCNS. It features diesel propulsion and an additional air-independent propulsion (AIP).
The Chilean Navy ordered two Scorpène-class boats, which replaced two Oberon-class submarines retired by the Chilean Navy. In 2005, the Indian Navy ordered six Scorpène-class; all the Indian boats will be built in India, at Mazagon Dock and elsewhere, and the last two are to be fitted with an Indian Fuel cell AIP module. For the follow-on requirement of six submarines, DCNS plans to offer a larger version of the submarine to the Indian Navy. In 2008, the Brazilian Navy ordered four Scorpènes.
The Chilean Scorpène class O'Higgins and Carrera were completed in 2005 and 2006, respectively. In 2009, the Royal Malaysian Navy commissioned Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tun Abdul Razak.
The Scorpène class of ships has four subtypes: the CM-2000 conventional diesel-electric version, the AM-2000 AIP derivative, the downsized CA-2000 coastal submarine, and the enlarged S-BR for the Brazilian Navy without AIP.

You suffocate all
You're dying so await your fall
You're begging like a pig for crumbs
So lick the plate clean until your lips are cold and
numb
Off with your own head. Change your footsteps.
Why do you choose to bury your father and sons?
Let the dead bury the dead; your father and sons
The dead bury the dead.
The knife is to your own neck. Follow me.
Taste the life. Leave all that is dead behind.
Dead bury the dead.
I am wretched skin in vain but I will not collapse
My foundations will not crumble or see decay
When the last candle burns out will you find your way?
Will you stumble? Will you regret your path; your name?
The dead bury the dead again, again, again.
Bury the dead.
The knife is to your own neck. Follow me.
Taste the life. Leave all that is dead behind.
Dead bury the dead.
Are you dying from inside?
Are you suffering?
Progress is a choice in life.
Face down, don't turn your back on me.
Where's your dedication? Your fight?
The annihilation of your pride.
I want! I want! I need! I need! and I want!
I want for you to open up your eyes
Envision all that is unseen.
You will follow all that is revealed.
You will follow because your light is growing dim.
