The S&P CNX Nifty, also called the Nifty 50 or simply the Nifty, is a stock market index, and one of several leading indices for large companies which are listed on National Stock Exchange of India., index based derivatives and index funds. Nifty is owned and managed by India Index Services and Products Ltd. (IISL), which is a joint venture between NSE and CRISIL(Credit Rating and Information Services of India Ltd). (IISL) is India's first specialized company focused upon the index as a core product. IISL has a marketing and licensing agreement with Standard & Poor's for co-branding equity indices. 'CNX' in its name stands for 'CRISIL NSE Index'.

S&P CNX Nifty has shaped up as the largest single financial product in India, with an ecosystem comprising: exchange traded funds (onshore and offshore), exchange-traded futures and options (at NSE in India and at SGX and CME abroad), other index funds and OTC derivatives (mostly offshore).

The S&P CNX Nifty covers 22 sectors of the Indian economy and offers investment managers exposure to the Indian market in one portfolio. The S&P CNX Nifty stocks represents about 65% of the free float market capitalization of the stocks listed at National Stock Exchange (NSE) as on March 30, 2012.

The CNX Nifty Junior is an index for companies on the National Stock Exchange of India. It represents the next rung of liquid securities after S&P CNX Nifty. It consists of 50 companies representing approximately 10% of the traded value of all stocks on the National Stock Exchange of India. The CNX Nifty Junior is owned and operated by India Index Services and Products Ltd. It is quoted using the symbol NSMIDCP.

The CNX Nifty Junior and the S&P CNX Nifty represent the 100 most liquid stocks traded on the National Stock Exchange of India. No one company can be listed on both indices simultaneously.

Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam ( pronunciation (help·info); Telugu: శ్రీపతి పండితారాధ్యుల బాలసుబ్రహ్మణ్యం; born 4 June 1946) is an Indian playback singer, actor, music director, voice actor and film producer. He is sometimes referred to as S. P. B. or Balu. He won the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer six times. He won the Nandi Awards 25 times from Andhra Pradesh.

He has sung over 40,000 songs in various Indian languages. He is the only playback singer in India to have won National Film Awards across four languages. He has also won a Filmfare Award, three Filmfare Awards South and numerous state awards from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. He is a recipient of civilian awards such as Padmashri (2001) and Padma Bhushan (2011) from the government of India.

Balasubrahmanyam was born to S. P. Sambamurthy in Konetammapeta of Madras Presidency, present day Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh in a Brahmin Family. Balasubrahmanyam's father was a Harikatha artist who had also acted in plays. He has two brothers and five sisters. He is the elder brother of singer S.P. Sailaja. He is married to Savitri and has two children, Pallavi and S. P. B. Charan who is a playback singer and film producer as well.
