Bobby Lewis (born February 17, 1933 or 1925, Indianapolis, Indiana) is an African American rock and roll and R&B singer.
Lewis learned to play the piano by age six. Adopted at age twelve, he moved to a home in Detroit, Michigan. Growing up with the influences of the pioneer blues musicians until the advent of rock and roll, Lewis began to build a musical career in the 1950s, and in 1960 appeared at the Apollo Theatre in New York City.[citation needed]
In July 1961, his recording of "Tossin' and Turnin'" went to No.1 for seven weeks on the Billboard chart. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. Later that year, he had a second Top Ten song, "One Track Mind", his only other major hit record, at #9 Pop.
"Tossin' And Turnin'", composed by Ritchie Adams and Malou Rene, was featured in the soundtrack for the 1978 film, Animal House. The song was also covered by Steve Goodman, The Replacements, The Guess Who, Peter Criss, and Jimmy Sturr, among others. The Ivy League's UK hit 'Tossin' And Turnin', however, is a completely different song.

Lewis (Scottish Gaelic: Leòdhas, pronounced [ʎɔː.əs̪], also Isle of Lewis) is the northern part of Lewis and Harris, the largest island of the Western Isles or Outer Hebrides (an archipelago) of Scotland. The total area of Lewis is 683 square miles (1,770 km2).
Lewis is, in general, the lower lying part of Lewis and Harris, with the other part, Harris, being more mountainous. The flatter, more fertile land means Lewis contains the largest settlement, Stornoway, and three-quarters of the population of the Western Isles. Beyond human habitation, the island's diverse habitats are home to an assortment of flora and fauna, such as the golden eagle, red deer and seals and are recognised in a number of conservation areas.
Lewis is of Presbyterian tradition with a rich history, having once been part of the Norse Kingdom of Mann and the Isles. Today, life is very different from elsewhere in Scotland with Sabbath observance, the Gaelic language and peat cutting retaining more importance than elsewhere. Lewis has a rich cultural heritage as can be seen from its myths and legends as well as the local literary and musical traditions.
Plot
A moving and intimate film that follows Monique "Money" Matters (Terri Abney) caught at the brink of adolescence. Her relationship with her mother Pamela Matters (Aunjanue Ellis- RAY, MEN OF HONER), is far from stable and depicts the struggle between a young mother and daughter who both come of age...together. Sharp and candid dialogue blur the roles of parent and child, revealing a family secret magnified by pain and years of regret. Money's daily routine; a three-bus commute to the Catholic school she attends, far from her dilapidated neighborhood, to another world where she feels just as uncomfortable. When she befriends a neighborhood girl who seems to understand her, their friendship develops in ways that push boundaries.
Family can be complicated

There's a new mouth in town!
With pen in hand you signed your name today at five I'll be on that train
And you'll be free and I will be alone so alone
If you think we can't find the love we once knew
If you think I can make everything up to you
Then I'll be gone and you'll be on your own you'll be on your own
Can you take good care of Johnny can you take him to school everyday
Can you teach him how to catch a fish and keep all those bullys away hear what I say
Can you teach him how to whistle a tune
Can you tell him about the Man in the Moon
If you can do these things then maybe he won't miss me maybe he won't miss me
And tonight as you lay in that big lonely bed
Can you look at the pillow where I laid my head
And with your heart on fire will you have no desire to kiss me and to hold me
And if you can forget the good times we had
If you think that the good times won't outweigh the bad
Today I started loving you again
Today I started loving you again
I'm right back where I've really always been
I got over you just long enough to let my heartache mend
Then today I started loving you again
What a fool I was to think I could get by
With only these few million tears I cried
I should have known the worst was yet to come
And that crying time for me had just begun
Cause today I started loving you again...
Baby, baby, you did something to me
I couldn't sleep at all last night
Just thinkin' of you
Aw baby things weren't right
Well I was tossin' and turnin'
Turnin' and tossin'
Tossin' and turnin' all night
I kicked the blankets on the floor
Turned my pillow upside down
I never never did before
'Cause I was tossin' and turnin'
Turnin' and tossin'
Tossin' and turnin' all night
Jumped outta bed
Turned on the light
I pulled down the shade, went to the kitchen for a bite
Rolled up the shade
Turned out the light
I jumped back into bed it was the middle of the night
The clock downstairs was strikin' four
Couldn't get you of my mind
I heard the milkman at the door
'Cause I was tossin' and turnin'
Turnin' and tossin'
Tossin' and turnin' all night
Jumped outta bed
Turned on the light
I pulled down the shade, went to the kitchen for a bite
Rolled up the shade
Turned off the light
I jumped back into bed it was the middle of the night
The clock downstairs was strikin' four
Couldn't get you of my mind
I heard the milkman at the door
'Cause I was tossin' and turnin'
Turnin' and tossin'
Tossin' and turnin' all night
Hey hey hey she had me
Tossin' and turnin'
Turnin' and Tossin'
A tossin' and turnin' all night
Tossin' and turnin'
Turnin' and tossin'
Tossin' and turnin' all night
Baby baby baby got me
Tossin' and turnin'
Turnin' and tossin'
Last night I stood too close to a fire I thought had died
But I guess somehow that an ember was still glowing deep inside
And just seeing you again seemed to light my torture new
Cause last night I got too close to a memory of you
Last night I got too close to a memory
Some of the hurt dropped off and it cut all over me
And today the pain keeps growing deep inside of me
Cause last night I got too close to a memory

Only a fool in love could warm a memory gone cold
When that memory is a part of a love he couldn't hold
So I guess I'm that fool for when I saw you last night
I felt love's cold ashes burning bight
Last night I got too close...
In my bed in my room in my house in my gloom
My is such a lonely lonely word
In my kitchen I make my coffe I wash my dishes since she's gone
My is such a lonely lonely word
I think about the past and our love I thought would last
And I think about the things we planned to do
In our future in our house in our time of happiness
But night after hour it's so lonely
In my world without my girl all my things are just things
Night is such a lonely lonely night
It's a little bit soon to forget you too late to regret that I met you
You're right I'd be wrong to carry this all
Any further when I can have you
I'll always remember the touch of you I love you so much I won't hurt you
And you know I may live to get over you yet
But I won't live long enough to forget
Go on home to the one that you're tied to
He may never make you happy but he's tryin' to
I won't call you again though I want to
I'll go so far away I can't hurt you
And you know I may live to get over you yet
But I won't live long enough to forget
If today I make the same mistakes I made yesterday
If I should fail to sentimental things I should say
If I take too for granted please try to understand
It's because I'm only a man
From time to time I may change like any man can do
But my love will always be the same and all of it's for you
If it seems like sometimes I'd forget the things your love demand
It's because I'm only a man

From heaven to heartache is such a long way to go
From holding an angel to onlyness in her soul
I said some things that I didn't mean to say
And then like a fool I turned and just walked away
From heaven to heartache I felt my world turning blue
From heaven to heartache I learned how much I need you
I'm sorry if I've made my angel cry and if I ever get back in
From heartache to heaven I'll never leave again
(From heaven to heartache) I felt my world turning blue
(From heaven to heartache) I learned how much I need you
I'm sorry if I've made my angel cry and if I ever get back in
Every step of the way every minute of the day
Devotedly I'll always be beside you
The seasons change but not my heart time will never see us part
I'll always care and I'll always be there every step of the way
Though winds of sorrow make you cry I'll be around
To kiss away the tears before they reach the ground
Every step of the way every minute of the day
I will love you every step of the way
[ guitar ]
Every step of the way every minute of the day
I will love you every step of the way
If you get lonely out there in that old world
And you become just a homesick little girl
Should the life you lead begin to fall apart
Then come home oh come home to my heart
Then come home to my heart the door is open
Come on home when the tears begin to fall
Forget the past and things that might have been
And come home to my heart just walk right in
If some old mem'ry should start working on your mind
And you get lonesome for the love you left behind
If your nwew world begins to fall apart
Then come home oh come home to my heart
Then come home to my heart...
Tonight I told all my friends goodbye
And I walked away so they wouldn't see me cry
And hit for swinging doors as fast as I can
For what love has done to me shouldn't happen to a man
And now I find myself sittin' here with you
And you make me wonder why I ever felt blue
You show understanding a few people know
And now that I found you I'll never let you go
Already it's heaven and we've barely met
And you've not even started loving me yet
Cause you've made it sweeter than it's ever been
And if you should love me what would it be then
Already it's heaven the long search is through
From heaven to heartache is such a long way to go
From holding an angel to onlyness in her soul
I said some things that I didn't mean to say
And then like a fool I turned and just walked away
From heaven to heartache I felt my world turning blue
From heaven to heartache I learned how much I need you
I'm sorry if I've made my angel cry and if I ever get back in
From heartache to heaven I'll never leave again
(From heaven to heartache) I felt my world turning blue
(From heaven to heartache) I learned how much I need you
I'm sorry if I've made my angel cry and if I ever get back in
From heartache to heaven I'll never leave again
